thank you, but its hard to figure if another new name will appear or a seasoned pro will win....
GL in Diehard this week, i can only improve. To that end sure hope the top guys don't stop winning as i'll be back on 'em. Go Rory!! Darts for the right ones. LOL
Rham said in an article yesterday that they need to go to 72 holes at liv to gain recognition to PGA
I hadn't forgotten your post. LOL You say Mr. Hovland liked your fb effort. Name-dropping can be a disease too, just saying. Ok, lol, that said, seriously do you know for sure the one who liked yours is the real Hovland? You may know. Hope you do. Next, did you check at all Hovland's position on LIV, i wasn't sure, so just did
Viktor Hovland Puts LIV Golf Rumors to Rest While Blasting PGA Tour: 'Management Has Not Done a Good Job'
The FedEx Cup champion said the Saudi-backed league isn't for him but understands why peers such as Jon Rahm have joined.

So there is another reasonable guy. He understands why the others went to LIV. As i always have always told you i
understood. As Rory does. LIV has never been for me and it is nice to have guys like Rory and Viktor agree with me.
Like i said it i reckon LIV would like to better the PGA. If the top guys from now stick with the PGA Salman and Norman won't get their wish.
GL in Diehard this week, i can only improve. To that end sure hope the top guys don't stop winning as i'll be back on 'em. Go Rory!! Darts for the right ones. LOL
this was my post.....
So Liv had 13 golfers in the Masters, 4 golfers, Smith, Dechambeau , Reed and Hatton in the top 12 against 68 PGA tour players, thats a good showing
I checked the likes and sure enough Victor hit the like button. I clicked on his like and it went straight to his profile......see, everyone dosent hate Liv
As DeChambeau's clubs had to be PGA approved before he could use them i'd thought balls had to be PGA approved too. Obviously there is a standard and little tweaks can be made to that standard. Your post suggests (to me) Tiger's solid core ball was a huge first. This article gives me a similar impression:
Tiger Woods and the golf ball that (almost) changed it all

I thought surely the ball Tiger played with that day couldn't be a wild new invention, as the article gives me
at least the impression it was. Surely, i thought the ball had to be PGA approved before he could use it.
This article leaves me i think with a more accurate idea of what the situation was:
The inside story of what the original Titleist Pro V1 launch was really like
By: Andrew Tursky October 8, 2020
Stewart Cink was at first skeptical of the ProV1. Getty Images
Twenty years ago this month, Titleist launched its revolutionary, multi-layer Pro V1 balls to PGA Tour players at the Invensys Classic of Las Vegas. That week, an astounding 47 players switched to the new Pro V1 ball, including the Invensys Classic winner, Billy Andrade; not a bad start, and the momentum never let up. Since that week, Titleist’s Pro V1s have been widely recognized as the game’s best balls for 20 years.
The Pro V1 was special because it combined two different worlds that were previously separate. Before 2000, golfers had to choose between wound-core balls, which were soft and spun a lot so they were easy to control, and solid-core balls that offered more distance. The wound-core balls weren’t very long, and the solid-core balls didn’t feel or perform very well.
Then came the Pro V1 that offered the best of both worlds with its solid core construction (from Titleist’s distance balls), surlyn casing (from Titleist’s performance balls) and a 392-dimpled urethane cover. For professionals and amateurs alike, the formula worked.
Bryson DeChambeau might unveil his newest innovation ‘hopefully’ at the Masters
By: Jonathan Wall .. [excerpt outed]
[...]The 48-inch driver shaft is almost non-existent in the professional ranks and has only been used a handful of times — Phil Mickelson tried a 47-inch shaft while Padraig Harrington attempted to play with a 48-inch driver — in the past few decades, but DeChambeau views the club as a weapon that could allow him to carry the fairway bunkers on the 2nd and 8th holes at Augusta National, as well as potentially drive the green (or get close to it) on the 3rd and 7th.
https://golf.com/gear/drivers/bryson-dechambeau-masters-driver-shaft/
These days, Titleist pumps out 300,000 Pro V1 (and Pro V1x) balls per day in its 225,000-square-foot Titleist Ball Plant 3 facility in New Bedford, Mass. Today, it’s almost impossible to imagine the golf world without Pro V1 balls, but would you believe that some pros were initially skeptical of the product?
Fordie Pitts, who started working for Titleist in 1993 and is currently the Titleist tour consultant for golf ball R&D, remembers testing the early prototypes for the Pro V1 as far back as 1997, and it wasn’t an immediate home run.
“Those (wound) balls had a lot of spin and that’s how the game was being played at the time,” Pitts said. “Years prior to the launch in 2000, we had taken a solid-core product to the players and a lot of them were a little skeptical at first. The feel was a little bit different. The spin wasn’t as much. … I think the attitude back then was you needed spin and a lot of it.”
Early prototypes for the Pro V1 didn’t make much of a splash in the industry, and wound balls continued to prevail on Tour. Tiger Woods may have had a hand in changing that, though. Woods — who now uses a Bridgestone ball — famously switched to a solid-core Nike ball and dominated the 2000 U.S. Open. Players started to take notice, and realized they may have been mistaken about solid-core balls.
“Tiger came on the scene and was blowing it by everyone else and all of the sudden guys were like, ‘Wait a minute, let me rethink that product,’” Pitts said. “So we brought it back out again.”

So, ok, DeChambeau's tweak, if there was more in it than just the longer shaft others had tried before, was obviously within the parameters
which the PGA allows. And Wood's in 2000 did not come-up with a ball no one else had access to, but just a slightly different solid core ball.
I've learned a bit in all that. Thanks.
Way to go. Fake news. I'll never figure you guys out. Don't you ever fact check...
OK. Knew i should have said IF your story was true. Not all are for sale -- Rory McIlroy dismisses report of $850M offer by LIV Golf
Mark Schlabach, ESPN Senior WriterApr 16, 2024, 11:35 AM ET
Four-time major championship winner Rory McIlroy on Tuesday said he plans to finish his career on the PGA Tour, denying a published report by a London newspaper that he had been offered $850 million and an equity stake in the LIV Golf League.
McIlroy said neither he nor his agents have ever discussed a potential deal to lure him to the LIV Golf League, which is being financed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF).
"I honestly don't know how these things get started," McIlroy told Golf Channel while on the practice range at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina, the site of this week's RBC Heritage. "I've never been offered a number from LIV, and I've never contemplated going to LIV. Again, I think I've made it clear over the past two years that I don't think it's something for me.
"It doesn't mean that I judge people who have went and played over there. I think one of the things that I have realized over the past two years is that people can make their own decisions for whatever they think is best for themselves, and who are we to judge them for that? But personally, for me, my future is here on the PGA Tour, and it's never been any different."
McIlroy, a 24-time winner on the tour, is also scheduled to play with Ireland's Shane Lowry in next week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a team event.
"It's never even been a conversation for us," McIlroy said. "It's unfortunate we have to deal with it, and this is the state our game is in. I'm obviously here and going to the PGA Tour event next week, and I'll play the PGA Tour the rest of my career."
Sean O'Flaherty, McIlroy's agent, told the Irish Independent in an email that there was "zero truth" to a report by City A.M., a London financial paper, that the second-ranked golfer in the world was mulling over an $850 million offer from the LIV Golf League that would include an equity stake of about 2%.
O'Flaherty called the report "fake news."
"I think over the last two years, there's been so many rumors of guys," McIlroy said. "I think the one thing I've realized as well is guys need to keep an open mind, and I'm sure there's been players that are still playing on the PGA Tour that have talked to the guys from LIV and had offers and whatever."
Although the PGA Tour and the PIF signed a framework agreement on June 6 to form an alliance, the sides haven't been able to finalize an agreement. The framework agreement, which expired Dec. 31, was extended as negotiations continue.
LIV Golf lured then-world No. 3 Jon Rahm into its ranks in December with a deal reportedly worth more than $350 million.
On March 18, PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan met with PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and players directors from the tour's policy board, including Tiger Woods, in the Bahamas.
McIlroy, who tied for 22nd at last week's Masters, has been one of the more vocal critics of LIV Golf and its team concept.
"I still hate LIV," he told reporters at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open in Toronto last June. "Like, I hate LIV. Like, I hope it goes away."
After the PGA Tour's pending alliance with the PIF was announced, McIlroy said he felt like a "sacrificial lamb."
Over the past several months, McIlroy has softened his position on allowing players who left for LIV Golf to come back to the PGA Tour and whether they should be able to compete in the Ryder Cup.

After a quick initial wake-up exercise one quick search gave me that one.
My feelings on Rory confirmed. Thank you, Mr McIlroy. Good man.
Not surprised. Ott it suggests many things. One, butcher Salman has unlimited money while his regime has the highest level of modern slavery in the world .. https://www.walkfree.org/global-slavery-index/country-studies/saudi-arabia/ . Two, it again reveals the brutal vulture-like nature of LIV. Three, it appears to reveal a desire of LIV not just to peacefully co-exist with the PGA as relative equals, but to replace the PGA as the top golf association in the world. Those are my relatively uninformed off-the-top thoughts on your news.
Further, only the players can save the PGA. IF that story is more than a rumor i hope Rory will not throw his principles into the trash, as so many other already multi-millionaire ex-PGA golfers have. One thing is absolutely clear no one - no one - needs that obscene amount of money, Will Rory sell himself for the almighty dangerous dollar. I wouldn't think he would.
Note: Just woke up. And have not read anything at all on it. This post is simply my impulsive reaction to your post.
wow mick, I posted this on facebook and Vicktor Hovland hit the Like button.....lolol
So Liv had 13 golfers in the Masters, 4 golfers, Smith, Dechambeau , Reed and Hatton in the top 12 against 68 PGA tour players, thats a good showing

joenatural, Way to go!!! Good pickin'.
Not on my watch
Had many or any $ ties before?
Congrats to Joe, Shorenuff and borealis a very close 3rd.
Not sure but haven't they banned a type of ball? How would it be if one player
was allowed to use that ball and and no one else could. Same logic, i think.
Thought is LIV will have to become not LIV before they have any chance
of competing. That is they'll have to go to the same format as PGA.
Wish i knew who was going to win every time. Then again, after a very few it would be boring as hell so, no, forget that idea.
Thanks---it's one of the zillion open tabs sitting in my browser--I forget to add it to the post

Congrats to joenatural for 1st Place.
Now go get The U.S. Open to complete the Grand Slam and we may have to rename the board...congrats
I’ve seen some negative reaction to Bryson’s new irons as though it’s somehow unfair for a player to develop better equipment, but this isn’t a new thing.
In 2000, Tiger Woods put in play a solid core golf ball before winning the US Open by 15 and later went on to win the “Tiger Slam”. It’s the most dominant season in the modern game and he was using a ball that gained him 10mph ball speed, flew more true in the wind and was far more forgiving. The ball wasn’t available to any other player at that time.
This has happened throughout history with golf clubs too, most noticeably with Gene Sarazen and the sand wedge.
If players want to invest their own time and money into developing new equipment, that is perfectly within the rules and all credit to them. They deserve any advantage they can get for pushing the boundaries.
Congrats!
Nice pickin!
The PGA TOUR heads to Harbour Town Golf Links for the fifth Signature Event of the year.
Congrats to joenatural and shorenuffstuff as well and thank you for the shout out.
Looking forward to the next time.
Thank you
Congrats to joenatural and shorenuffstuff, and all the Sheff faithful. We are keeping up with inflation here. Someone tell Cappy I am going to pass him *forever* in the all time earnings if he doesn't show up next month. And congrats to louieforpar, with the highest 1st time score probably ever. We need new blood. And thanks again, Eli for everything you do.
Thanks, but when Theegala made double bogey on #17, I was sure I lost the tiebreaker by 1 stroke. I was sure that Shorenuff had a total of 275 instead of 273. I came to the board just now to make sure I lost the tiebreaker. Holy cow! I'll take it.

the clubs were approved by the PGA tour, and why do they have to be available to all ?
ahhh, 2 livs in the top twelve and they had like 10 guys in it against 70 PGA.....liv showed up well. Liv should go to 18 holes to get rankings.....they could do that in 2 days, 36 a day.....
LOL, I wish I would have picked Dechambeau instead of Rham or Koepka......
Yep. And the result is really of minor consequence when the guy is playing with a set of clubs which
could give him an advantage - he said it himself - and which are not available to any other player.
Yep, but Scheffler's tail remained untwisted, the guy is a true champion.
Oh and on the earlier I should have said I wouldn't have picked Aberg to win, just to make
the cut and do well - as he did. Lol, too often i think of what i should have said too late.
Hey i think it's fair to say this Masters provided some good evidence that the best golfers were not to be found in LIV.
i was surprised, after he stated this, 2,3,4th rd was sub par
congrats to all that have scheffler, he tried to give it to aberg, mori, & homa.
he out witted them.
still time for a twist in he tail---there is an albatross in Masters history on the 15th by Sarazen that erased a lead in 1935
LOL As history would have predicted you got me again, still just noticed on first look today i've edged up one in Diehard. That helps, though likely won't last.
History says the odds of a back to backer are slightly better than a 1st timer and more recent---2 players have won on their 1st try--Gene Sarazen 1935 and Fuzzy Zoeller 1979 while Tiger, 2002 Jack 1966, and Faldo 1990 have repeated...
