GVI Security Solutions Announces $7 Million in Loss Prevention Systems Agreements; Company to Provide Customized Inventory Loss Prevention Installations to Major Big Box Retailer and Key Regional Wholesaler
CARROLLTON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 2006--GVI Security Solutions Inc. (OTCBB: GVIS), a provider of integrated security solutions incorporating access control, detection and surveillance systems, today announced that it has entered into two agreements to provide inventory loss prevention systems. The first agreement, with a major U.S. big box retailer, is expected to generate revenues of $5 million. The second agreement, with a regional wholesaler, is expected to generate revenues of $2 million.
GVI will provide its top line customized Security Surveillance Systems to these vendors. The Security Surveillance Systems feature all of the components necessary to supply a complete security solution, including, cameras, lenses, recording devices, digital video recorders and multiplexers that allow multiple signals to be transmitted simultaneously across a single channel.
"Employee theft costs American citizens more money each year in terms of higher prices and reduced supply than any other type of larceny," said Howard Safir, chairman of GVI. "Our customers require top line, seamless capabilities for their monitoring systems. By utilizing our surveillance solutions, we believe they will significantly increase recognition and detection of criminal theft, and drastically reduce their costs."
According to a recent survey, in 2003 U.S. retailers lost $33.6 billion of inventory due primarily to employee theft, shoplifting and vendor fraud, and the average retailer budgeted 0.51 percent of its prior year's revenues for security and loss prevention measures.
"With inventory loss a primary concern, we expect continued interest in our security solutions from retailers," said Nazzareno Paciotti, chief executive officer. "While our clients use these GVI solutions primarily for inventory loss prevention, our systems offer advanced protection when used correctly for additional security measures, such as parking lot surveillance, entrance and exit control and documentation.
"Additionally, we are experiencing increased interest in our Security Surveillance Systems from both government and corporate clients. Systems installed five to seven years ago to comply with Y2K concerns are approaching the end of their natural life span, and clients are seeking immediate upgrades in visitor management, card access, detection and surveillance products, such as our 'intelligent' CCTV system," he added.
