The fool says:
"So what the heck is a rights offering?
In a typical secondary offering, a company raises money by selling new shares of stock to the public. Or so it seems.
Here's what actually happens: The company sells shares to an investment bank (the underwriter) at a predetermined price, thus eliminating the risk that the company won't be able to sell as many shares as it wants. The investment bank then uses its distributional might and army of brokers to sell the stock to the public. As payment, the investment bank collects a juicy underwriting fee."
Something to consider:
This is an audio report I suggest you to listen to. I think after you have listened to it, you will agree Natcore Technology NTCXF is a solar stock that should be a serious consideration to add to one's portfolio. Today it has had a good move on some news from the company that is in the second link even so the O/S is only 24.6 million shares and I feel it has much more to go..

I think, with this long base at these levels, if the financials are good for the next year you'll see some huge gains in this stock. The market cap is pretty small right now and I could see it go up to 5 billion in the next couple of years. Any thoughts?
Could anyone explain to me the 25 million offering in the recent PR, I have a hard time understanding what those things mean. Definitely looking to buy in big in this company, just want to know all the facts before
Yeah I was at the office and flipped it for a few hundred dollars after I posted that. The earnings were good, the nuclear thing may have thrown a wrench into investors plans.
good news, reasonable volume, unclear why this hasn't shot higher. just a matter of time.
Rebound looks to be starting today. Obama mentioned in speech, Solars.
Anyone watching this?
It seems to be slowly climbing but the future is looking 'sunny' according to my DD.
SOLR is about primed for a bit of an upturn in the next month, I am thinking. Anyone have an opinion?
yup, watching solr make a little comeback! think it'll pull back for a while now based on technicals. then maybe ill jump in.
Dean Kamen should partner with SOLR to develop Green Charging Station$ for tomorrow today.

Ideas are all over, execution is everything, once you pass the $100 mark, in these times, there needs to be value.
GLTY ;oD
Most Solar Stocks Showing Red today, but...
We are in the green after a record day yesterday...says a lot about investors...hold hold hold
I'm in 7 solar/renewable Stocks, and this is one that has massive upside potential.
If you're open to an interesting junior solar play, check out AWSL
This no debt micro was fast tracked to be one of 3 final participants for $85 mil project for the City of Dryden. (Results re who will be awarded contract expected to come next week)... Lots of potential with a great team...check it out
I want some shares here too... waiting a little bit.
I will wait at least a week to see where the new bottom settles.
Could be sub $5
HOF
they didn't miss that big... how many companies do you know had more rev jan-mar '09 vs jan-mar '08? They're still going to be trading at around a 12 multiple (after the post-market drop), with no debt. Their cash position increased this qtr, and they have significant backlog, with big chunks of revenue already known to be realized throughout '10. I'm getting all the sub-$6 shares possible.
agreed. im looking for under 5.00 if im lucky. im in. "At quarter’s end, the company’s backlog was $1.18 billion, with $341 million in the PV segment and $836 million in the polysilicon segment."
$$$$$$$$
you better wait to see the bottom before you buy. Stock is down more than 15% after hours, as earnings missed big.
Personally, I would wait a few weeks before deciding to buy.
HOF
SOLR has rebounded quite nicely.
yep. he who adapts wins. gotta be on guard. wild market? or skitzo. lol. once they are over bot time to short. it's the game, not the stock
New mkt new rules; some have not even been written yet. Thanks for your reply. Have loved fitb since I laid eyes on the bal sheet. The world seems to be redifining itself. I still like rz and solr, and csun, and actually rad and wamuq are appealing. Do not want to be too financial here at all! I have been spoiled by winning every time and must accept that some day I might not win--or that day might not come. I did lose on the stem cells bet so far, hoping in the end will not, but this is a wild mkt. I am feeling no long terms at all. Maybe, except GE under $10. Then, who knows. Years ago I had AIG at $60 and it went to $70. Wow, what a winner.
i bot solr and it went up and down and up and i made a few bucks, then it went way way down and i stayed with it for quite sometime, but, was missing ops with other stocks, so sold finally. i dont pump and dump. i like what i buy i say it. i expect what i buy to go up. doesnt always happen and im not always willing to stick it out for months and months and months. solar will do well. fitb has done very well. gsl and opmr will do very well. swings sometimes are fast and sometimes take their time. as long as they dont fall off a cliff like so many did last fall.
Know your thoughts from fitb. are you still in solr? ideas? or did you pump and dump here? your handle is great btw.
Solar on the move last 10 days. Nice to see the markets coming back.
Did you ever pick any up? I kept watching and watching. I knew earnings was coming up, but forgot about it Congrats if your long!
Take a hard look at ABTG. It will benefit ten fold from the Stimulus plan.
I rolled the dice on DELL on Monday @ $9.35. I am happy camper today.
It gave all of its gains back on Wednesday. Hopefully, it will pull back some more.
Solar is alive and well. When analysts are telling yout stay clear, then it is time to take a look. They always do that when they want to take a position themselves.
Too many Solar companies already. That means we will start seeing price competition and weed out the strong. I believe Solar will be one of the survivors. They have a great product.
Once the government subsidies start rolling in, then we will be on our way. Obama is a big proponent of Solar energy.
I missed the bottom too.
I don't understand the rise with the price of oil and gas so low. Maybe, the market thinks that government money will be thrown at solar as a good way to provide jobs to stimulate the economy.
Up 100% over the past week. I was hoping this would pull back. I missed the bottom. I had a chance @ $2.00, but got distracted that day.
it looks it did indeed!

LDK 14.26, +1.14, +8.7%) , one of its clients, had decided to buy multi- and monocrystalline furnaces from China-based rival JYT Corp. The move prompted GT Solar to issue a statement aimed at reassuring shareholders. "This announcement by LDK does not in any way impact GT Solar's backlog, nor do we believe it will have any effect on our internal targets or projections," GT Solar CFO Bob Woodbury said. GT Solar, which provides equipment and services needed to make photovoltaic wafers and cells, debuted as a publicly traded company on Thursday, raising $500 million through a 30.3-million-share IPO priced at $16.50 a share. End of Story
It did not terminate all buying from GT Solar. GT Solar is still, i beleive, the largest equipment seller to LDK.
LDK did make a large purchase with a competitor of GT Solar, JYT Corporation. And it was said that GT Solar did not meet the deadline for one or multiple pieces of equipment for either the wafer expansion or silicon expansion, and that LDK was possibly showing that they were going to cut ties with GT Solar (if LDK Solar ever does cut ties with GT Solar, it would be DRAMATIC for GT Solar and its shareholders since i beleive 70% of GT Solars revenues come from LDK!!!).
However, it is more of a result that Peng, LDK's CEO is being more cautious in having 2 suppliers to rely on instead of just one.
Also, LDK has recently made a gigantic purchase with Applied Materials - something else for GT Solar employees, and shareholders, to worry about.
But in short, there is no termination of buying from GT Solar, at least yet. If there was, get the heck out of SOLR right away though! lol
Stock picker numero uno! thnx,,, Do you know why LDK terminated its equipment buying from SOLR? Whom is it buying it is buying equipment now?
tia
FSLR is an American company based in Arizona. LDK is a foreign company based on China. Both are trading on a US exchange, so you have 'trust' factor. Most Americans still do not 'trust' the Chinese.
Look at SPWRA (SunPower Corp) another alternate energy (solar) company that is not NEAR the earnings of LDK, yet trades at 5 times the PE (5 times more valued).
LDK is only a 3 year old company and is worth more than GM right now, and growing faster than any company out there.
LDK will force to be noticed and recongnized and valued fairly shortly - very shortly.
Afterall, less than 5% of publicly trading companies are actually growing right now. And none as fast as LDK.
THNX..
PS. WHY FSLR COMMANDING HIGHER P/E RATIO IF NUMBER #2?
LDK's growth and its current PE. You will NOT find a better stock out there and if you can, post it.
LDK is growing at over 100% q over q, and will become vertically integrated by producing their own raw material (polysilicon) and become the worlds largest polysilicon producer.
Think of LDK as the solar sectors Intel. They make poly, produce ingot blocks with it, cut it into solar wafers, then ship to a panel distributor.
I have everything down in the Info box on the LDK board. look at the last quarterly investor update which i have linked on the LDK board, and look at the contracts and financials which i have in a table.
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=9981
Heck, look at the PR they released today to see how strong a company LDK is.
The 2nd best solar company out there right now is First Solar (FSLR). However, FSLR has a very high PE. LDK is growing faster and has a better product (poly vs. thin film) and is HQ'd in China with much less expensive costs (labor, government tax break) -
LDK is the #1 solar and WILL make you a TON of cash - no doubt.
LDK will be over $200 when this recession lifts.
jt options? wana be a mod gotta post to do that. we need more good info seekers and dd'ers.
equipment makers in solar sector better strategic choices in principle.. what do you like with LDK....?
tia
what doesnt kill u makes u stronger
off to muscle beach
FWIW, i do like GT Solar. And yes, it will make people a buck in the long run.
Hope you did not take my message the wrong way, in no way am i bashing this.
GO SOLARS!
now now, there are many that will make you a buck....this is just one, not that the other isnt. in this market to make money is a plus and to move forward more difficult....but, we will get there. (barrack told me, roflol...just wait)
Compare Income Statements and Guidance with LDK and you will no longer be in this.
solr did good and is the future. we will do well. once things settle down

Vulcanized, need some help here.....
Do you have the last 8 quarters revenue, income and EPS for GT solar handy?
do your dd and you will find that they are relating the increase of power with solar to what they have said about moore's law for yrs as to memory. apples and oranges yes, but, the idea is the same. every 18-24 mos a double. with me, i think it could be next week....but that is me and iam not either an expert nor a pundit...... now if you care to not do the dd that i did, just bark. but, there are more ways to think than in the box.
i did not make this up, i only report the news. now realize im not talking memory with solar, but, rather the idea of moores law. a double every 18-24 mos. which has stood up over time. i look forward to the same record with solar......all the ones i own that is.
