Foreign Films etc

Not to veer off much
but have added The Shield & John Adams to the collection

since our goal is to get away from being dependent on a Dish or an antenna for entertainment, having a decent DVD collection was on our to do list
and we're getting there

with old shows like Gunsmoke, Paladin, Branded, The Rifleman, Cheyenne, Maverick, Wanted Dead or Alive, etc for westerns
some Jonathan Winters & Red Skelton for commedy
which reminds me....

Watching Exiled now
came with Dynamite Warrior
yep, two cool movies on one disc with good quality
good English dubbing as well
pretty cool movie with some terrific gunplay special effects

Dynamite Warrior(s) is supposed to be a lot of fun
update when that one is viewed

but my favorite foreign film

The Fast Runner

top of my list
and I like to watch it at least once a year

very little dialogue
and unneeded if you're paying attention
and based on a very very old story
if you're traditional native american
it will have you on the edge of your seat each and every time
as you pick up new things

some favorite actors
Toshiro Mifune, Shintaro Katsu, Sonny Chiba & Jean Reno are a few that come to mind

It's late and my mind is kind of muddled trying to think of them all

I think what I'll try to do is post a little as we watch some

We just watched the Vengeance Trilogy
No Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, Oldboy, and Lady Vengeance
good grief...not only shocking...but you get surprised in these films

we've been having so much fun we've even collected some of the okyo Shock ensemble which are a hoot

it's just entertainment

What really got us started was the Zatoichi films seeing them on IFC.

I've even got some of the TV series

and I just ordered a kind of prequel with Shintaro Katsu, the star
where he plays a blind masseur that's a bad guy, so looking forward to that

and of course we have the couple of newer ones without Katsu
there's one called Ichi where it a gal playing what we believe to be the daughter of Ichi

and of course 7 Samurai, The Street Fighter series, Toshiro Mifune in the Sword trilogy is terrific

IFC and the Sundance channel give a good taste of some foreign films
not only do you get a taste of other cultures such as it is on film
but you get some new and quite different
casts of thousands even sometimes

Jet Li in the Once Upon A Time in China series

and of course it's not unusual to see long epics and movies that over two hours
so you get your money's worth in a DVD

I finally got my wife to enjoy foreign movies and shows even when they have subtitles you have to read. So we've been increasing our DVD collection as a result.

Korean films have been a bit of our most recent viewing and there's some pretty good ones out there with great twists and shocks.
