What a short-term wonder!! He retired but only from being a day trader!! I am definitely not impressed follow me
Yes. Thank you and I told Follow what I was doing.
I'm not into promoting my board as it's more for me personally anyway, but thought since it's a continuation of what follow was trying to do , that it's just fine. Take Care
I disagree, only for the fact that "follow" has already removed himself as mod to this board. I think he's effectively done with it for now.
Don't know how Follow feels, but that's a little "low rent" to try to steal us away...IMO...of course!
hey guys. I started a similar board if you want to check it out.
I'm still learning, but should be a good journey.
$3 million challenge
Anytime you can man. Would love to hear your strategies when your able. Thanks
Don't fizzle out yet. I just started mine because of you. I planned on doing it in January anyway, but stepped it up :)
I don't have as much time as I thought I would to dedicate to managing this board as well as posting updates to it. :(
Nice. My longs are just keeping me under Day trader status. didn't help that i made a huge mistake yesteday on a daytrade. Hope my swing trade makes up for it this morning :)
11/13/2013 - Back at day trader status today as my long term hold kicked up a bit. Before it drops, I am looking for a new entry and will stick to the weekly 12% gains plan.
Good plan. It's never a good idea to think you need to trade everyday. It will lead to bad trades for the sake of trading. I used to be terrible with that.
Moved to Weekly Goal of 12% as of today. Since I don't have day trading status, it would be best if I trade for a weekly goal of 12% instead of a daily goal of 4%.
Here is a link to my latest PDF outlining 12% gains over 52 weeks:

Retiring from your job can happen. I have ran into many other traders / investors who have done it. I am well on my way and so are you.
That's great. I'm in a very similar postion as you. Really like my job as well, but have a 3 year plan to hopefully retire instead of my 16 years left at the job.
I have learned alot this year and think by January i will be ready to start my journey. Have a few more things to iron out and get my accounts set up right.
I will be following you and maybe get some good things to look out for when i start.
Take care
Good luck :)
If you find a few from your scanner , share them then we all can do some research with you.
Yes sir! That is the plan. I like my current job but not enough to do this for another 5-20 years. I'll take marketing investing any day.
I eventually want to right a complete A-Z guide of my experience from losing a few thousand in the early stages to making all of that back and more in one play earlier this year.
if the challenge goes well, you can be on your way to having a new day job :)
No trading today. Still waiting for funds to settle from last trade. I am just working on my scanners, watching some YouTube videos and reading a book on the market today...in addition to my regular day job.
Looking back on the situation, I believe the mistake I made - invested based on the news I thought was current but my eTrade setup his part of the date - prompted me to exit. The news I thought I was trading on was way past.
Lessons learned including arranging trading space better, waiting out the market a little longer (perhaps more than a couple of hours) to see if the price will bounce back after setting a reasonable stop. The share price actually hit my 4% target later in the day.
I am also watching various YouTube videos, reading books and guides online to help me sharpen my skills with technical / financial analysis as well as market analysis in general.
I'm using a new scan method myself recently. I search for bearish CCI's. I've found that CCI's that dip to -200 or more usually bounce pretty hard. PM me if you wanna know which one my scan has pulled up for this week.
Oh, I am doing both BB and OTC companies.
eTrade Strategy Scanner. I have actually deleted my scanner and now playing around with different set ups before I enter the market again.
I am experimenting with having 3 different volume scanners that show stocks being sold by certain blocks, one 25K, one 50K and one 100K. If the same stock shows up one two or more scanners, I look at it further. This is mainly for sniffing out penny plays.
I am playing around with the scanner to sniff out pennies and BB going down fast and hard. The challenging this is putting the right combinations together. It isn't easy because you have so many options and filters to choose from. It is tempting to use them all and a lot of them may seem not to apply at all.
I am just going to keep changing and testing until I find the scan that brings up the results I want.
Thanks. It actually looks good now. What was your thoughts on selling it so soon?
$6.79 and exit was $6.7301. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will add that to my future posts.
What was your entry price in HERO?
Will you only be trading BB?
Thanks and I'll be watching. Maybe we all can work this out together ?
What scanner are you using to determine your positions, if you don't mind?
I was on margin but executed over 3 trades to exit out of a losing position and got taken off of margin. So until I get over $25K again, I am all cash.
Should be interesting.
I'm going to be starting the same thing 1/1 but will be 30k to 1 million and to be #1 on profit.ly for the year.
I know you don't have pattern day trader status, but don't you have a margin account?. That way you don't have to wait the 3 days and you can day trade 3 times in a 5 day rolling period.
Very interested to see how this goes. Will be following!
Interesting. Will you post the companies you traded after you exit or execute?
11/7/2012 - B:$798.21 - E:$770.70
STOCK: HERO
B: is the amount I started with before commission and pre-market fee.
E: is the amount I ended with after outbound commission was taken.
Meat and Potatoes:
I set up and ran two scanners, one pre-market that picks up 3% gainers and one that picks up 5% gainers. HERO came up and had some news as well.
A mistake I made is not setting up my eTrade windows properly. I could not see the full dates of the news and a couple of other important items. Lo and behold, the news I thought I was trading with today was over 2 weeks old. It cost me $28 bucks.
I took a quick inventory of what went wrong and what went right in addition to where I can improve.
First day cost me $28. I have to wait out the T + 3 settlement. I will be back in there on Tuesday unless my long term holder pushes my account up over $25K (real close).
Today I start the one year trek to turning $800 into ????
My goal is to turn this $800 into $2,000,000 by day trading it within one year. I know it is an aggressive goal but I aim high!
The money has been earmarked today and I will commence shortly on trading. All activity will be posted at the end of the trading day in this format:
DATE - [Beginning Amount] - [Ending Amount]
Example:
11/7/2012 - B:$800 - E:$870
In the body of the text, I will expand on the company I bought in, why I did it and why I pulled out when I did. Feel free to ask any questions pertaining to the activity you see.
