Went ahead and dumped the ole EGLE at the bell this morning, not looking to good around here.

You made the right call alba. I didnt lose 75% of my investment, more like around 15%, and thats when its time to call it quits for now and wait to see what pans out.

I used to flip this thing all the time, then last year I finally lost on a flip. Then this year I'm up almost 100% on it, I'm torn when to buy back in. This thing was volatile with 60m+ shares, now with 15m it should be crazy. I do believe the split was to satisfy the Nasdaq minimum price requirements.

Yup, the ole EGLE took a beating today for sure. Will have to see if it recovers some tommorrow, company stock is very volitile for sure. Might have to take a loss for now and wait until things settle down some.

Right, on the overeaction to 1-4 R/S panic selloff form folks who do not know what they are doing, or saying for that matter. They just say things to spark a chatter I suppose.

While my first bunch of shares are currently underwater for about 2.7% the lot I bought at 3.35 look pretty good to average out a winning side of a trade/investment.

Glad I am not down 75% as a poster said I must be.

The Dow Jones is a market index, not an exchange.

Clearly, you do not what you are talking about even in regards to the most basic of knowledge, therefore I find it difficult to entertain any of your other comments seriously.

And historically, a reverse split to maintain listing complaince says nothing regarding the long term potential of an investment, for example check out SANM which I owned in 09 at .38 and underwent a 1-6 R/S to maintain compliance. I sold every single one of my post R/S shares between 11 and 13 dollars.

"Fundamentally" your portfolio is now reduced by a factor of 4 shares to ONE share. Yes that one share now has a value of something less then the total value of the pre R/S 4 shares.

Yes the DOW, NASDAQ has a minimum share value to trade. AND historically the post R/S value usually NEVER stands the test of time.

EGLE has more problems than crappy shipping rates.

No. Not joking. And I am a long term investor here. I had some shares before the split from .94

The share price is adjusted in a reverse split as well as the amount of shares outstanding. So my adjusted cost basis for those shares is 3.76

With Fridays close at 3.69 I am down a few percent from my original investment. With the lot I bought on the 1-4 R/S overeaction at 3.35 I am up in this investment overall.

Your fundamental knowledge of how a reverse split affects ones position is fundamentally flawed. The stock would now have to be trading at around one buck for me to be down 75% in my original investment, and that kind of a nosedive is not likely to occur.

They did the reverse split in the first place to keep their Nasdaq listing intact - Shares in any Nasdaq listed company that fail to consistently close above one buck are subject to delisting. So the company wisely gave themselves a large cushion for short term price fluxuation in their time of internal restructuring and shipping sector hardship.

My opine is that china has purchased/ manufactured its own fleet of transport. India is another matter. North Korea might be a long shot if Kim Jong Uh softens relations with US the West/East bulk shipping could enjoy a boost!! Don't recall if EGLE has a Pacific coast presents.

I'm taking a good look at raw materials, ect, POT out of Canada, RIOTONTO, Brazil, and ore production from Australia.

Some pundants suggest Newmont Mining and New Gold, Canada. But if we get rid of obama and the US economy stabilizes, Gold IMO will tank. So what to do?

i think that the tax loss selling has already happened. I too enjoyed this as a treasure trove of sorts. Made a handsome profit many times. I am very tempted to put some chips back in at this level and maybe average down a bit. If there seems to be no upward catalyst i will most likely cut and run with a loss. I am considering. With the new ships coming to an end, less capital should be going out to start ups, but it seems to be a falling knife. I'm gonna probably buy in thinking that many are taking tax losses for the year on it and hopefully it will get a rebound in January. What's your thoughts. This thing was my flipping treasure trove, but I took my first loss on it earlier this year, broke the streak. I've just been watching and waiting ever since.
