Seems to be some profit taking in this market.Any news Coming up in the future CAPT.?
We may have to go through a few bad quarters, but in the end this product and Company is going to be solid. This is a long play...Short plays will make some money here, but the long's will be the ones who are rewarded big time...Hang in there...I am loading up now and going long... The resistance here if from the short's who got in at .40 or below. The Q4 numbers will effect this either a big bounce up on meets or beats, and a buying opportunity if they miss the #'s. But in the long run all solid. Good luck to all.
been buying some in the lower .70's lets see another announcement of a new contract to bring this back over 1
You would do well to grab this one now..I have been with them for 3 years and made some money on the dips. But long term this is one "right time" company. It has a good product, sales and in on the cutting edge in this energy market..Look at my post #102 from July and look at what happened today...This is only the start of an uptick. The only downside, short term, is if they miss the Q4 estimates. If they do, then another buying opportunity will exist but it will not last long. IMO...good luck to you...
I think that if the sales keeps going a conservative estimate is $3.50 a share and could spike to $7.00..IMO...I have been in this one in good times and bad...I has lot's of upside potential and big insititutional holdings...
So What do you think 08' has in store for DESC?
Big news here...Go DESC...We should be over $1.00 soon and heading back to where it should be..The .40 investors will take some off the table here, but it looks good...If they get close to the Q4 projected numbers next week then it will fly....
Distributed Energy Systems Books Orders for 7 Advanced Wind Turbines
Tuesday January 8, 7:30 am ET
BARRE, Vt., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Distributed Energy Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: DESC - News), an innovative leader in wind power technology, announced today it received orders for seven Northwind 100 wind turbines for use in Alaska and the Northeast region of the United States.
Four of the advanced 100 kilowatt wind systems were sold to the Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC), a utility responsible for providing power to 53 villages in Alaska. The other three wind turbines were ordered by Sustainable Energy Developments, Inc., (SED) an Ontario, NY-based company, currently developing wind projects with businesses, municipalities, residences, schools and farms in the Northeast.
Bud Cherry, chief executive officer of Distributed Energy Systems, said: "These important sales emphasize DESC's commitment to supplying state of the art, reliable, and cost effective wind turbines in extremely diverse environments. This latest follow-on sale to AVEC - their 15th through 18th Northwind units - is gratifying to us, underscoring once again this established customer's continuing satisfaction with the Northwind 100. We also welcome the partnership with Sustainable Energy Developments as we bring the Northwind 100 into the "lower 48" marketplace."
AVEC's four new Northwind 100 units are planned to be installed in its remote village diesel systems in Mekoryuk and Savoonga, which border the Bering Sea. In these wind-diesel applications, the Northwind 100 offsets the ever-increasing costs of diesel power generation. "In 2007, three Northwind 100 turbines provided over 20% of the electrical production for two interconnected villages on Nelson Island." said Brent Petrie, special projects manager for the Alaska Village Electric Cooperative. "That installation alone displaced approximately $85,000 in diesel fuel costs in 2007." Petrie said AVEC is evaluating the potential installation of wind turbines in up to 27 of the 53 communities it serves.
"The Northwind 100 will be a crucial part of SED's continued success in the Northeast," said Kevin Schulte, CEO and Co-Founder of SED. "The demand of projects requiring this size turbine matched with the respect we have for Distributed Energy Systems made the partnership and purchase of the three Northwind 100s a no-brainer."
With 100kW of rated power, the Northwind 100 was designed for use in wind- diesel applications, and more recently has been released as an alternative power generator for small businesses, commercial farms, small communities, schools and universities, and small corporate and industrial sites. The turbine uses gearless design and direct-drive architecture to deliver high energy capture and low maintenance requirements to a mainstream wind energy marketplace.

Distributed Energy Combining Northern Power & Proton Energy to Strengthen Operations, Reduce Cost
Wednesday January 31, 11:00 am ET
WALLINGFORD, Conn., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Distributed Energy Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: DESC - News), today announced it will combine its two subsidiaries -- Northern Power Systems and Proton Energy Systems -- to reduce cost and strengthen systems sales, engineering, production, service and technology development.
The company, which creates and delivers products and solutions for the decentralized energy marketplace, said the reorganization will result in a charge against 2007's first-quarter results of approximately $1.0 million, or $0.03 per share, to account for staff reductions, reflecting the elimination of about 60 jobs, or 20% of the workforce, and related expenses. The reorganization is estimated to result in savings of approximately $4-$5 million, on an annualized basis, beginning in the second quarter of 2007. In addition, the Waitsfield, VT, location will be closed, and its activities moved to the company's 110,000-square-foot Barre, VT facility.
"During the past year, it became increasingly clear that we would benefit going forward by implementing our strategy now, to become a one-company organization," said Ambrose L. Schwallie, Distributed Energy's chief executive officer. "We expect these changes to improve sales and marketing effectiveness, reduce costs, enhance efficiencies of our systems engineering, products and service capabilities, and enable more and better cross- fertilization in advanced technology development."
"This new functional structure," Mr. Schwallie continued, "allows us to focus more precisely on the markets, critical business drivers and capabilities that give Distributed Energy the best prospects for the higher- margin revenues we need to foster strong, sustained, profitable growth. Taking this action promptly will, we believe, enable the company to make better progress toward our goal of reaching profitability."
Markets and Organization
Discussing the reorganization further, the Distributed Energy CEO cited the company's emphasis on power generation and power electronics systems, systems engineering and combined heat-and-power projects, products and services for oil and gas exploration markets, larger-scale wind projects for power generation, and commercial hydrogen, renewable fuels, and waste-to- energy technologies.
To implement the reorganization, Mr. Schwallie also announced the appointment of three senior vice presidents to company-wide functional positions, all reporting to him:
* Mark Murray now leads the sales and marketing functions for all of
Distributed Energy products, systems and services. Mr. Murray most
recently headed the company's commercial hydrogen business.
* Betsy Anderson assumes responsibility for all of the company's
engineering, production, project management and service activities,
expanding her prior operating responsibilities beyond energy systems,
products and services.
* Robert Friedland takes on management duties encompassing all technology
innovation, including the hydrogen research and development programs
that he previously ran.
"Under their experienced leadership," Mr. Schwallie said, "the company will work to strengthen lines of communication and operating efficiencies within the company, improve our impact in the marketplace, and continue to pursue the ideas and technologies that can enable Distributed Energy to be one of the leaders in alternative and renewable energy solutions."
Mr. Schwallie concluded: "This new unified focus should begin to be reflected in 2007 operating results. We believe this new, revitalized organization will put Distributed Energy in a stronger position to drive improved operating margins, and better serve markets where our capabilities and business models deliver valuable benefits to customers, now and in the years ahead."

DESC has a Phase III contract with the Missile U.S. Missile Defense Agency
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/061011/nyw136.html?.v=65
The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Contract is a Phase III Small Business Innovation Research award which is a HUGE step. A Phase III contract is where the Federal Agency that sponsored the research and development (In this case the MDA) or other Agencies place a real purchase order for the technologies developed over the past 3 or so years with the SBIR Phases. The MDA award of the Phase III (which is essentially an open ended purchase order) is HHHUUUGGGEEE. DESC now has an orginal technology because the Government paid them to build it. They do not have any competition for this and that means sole source contracts which are not competed. Again, this is huge. Not many people understand the SBIR Program and just what it means to get a Phase III.
DESC - 3 contracts & a new CFO.
In the last 2 weeks, DESC has announced 3 contracts and
hired a new CFO. Things are getting on firm footing over there.
DESC NEWS - signed a contract with Shell Hydrogen LLC !!!!!!! (Not rated) 5 minutes ago Station to Use Advanced Electrolysis Technology for Onsite Hydrogen Generation
WALLINGFORD, Conn., Oct 16, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Proton Energy Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Distributed Energy Systems Corp. (DESC), announced today that its hydrogen technology group has signed a contract with Shell Hydrogen LLC, part of Royal Dutch Shell plc (NYSE: RDS-B) to install a hydrogen fueling system in the New York City metropolitan area. The contract will showcase Proton's onsite hydrogen generation technology for vehicle fueling.
The fueling system, based on proton exchange membrane electrolysis technology, converts electrical energy and water into hydrogen fuel, to then be stored on-site and safely dispensed into clean and efficient hydrogen- fueled automobiles.
The installation of this system represents another opportunity for Proton to demonstrate the performance of its technology in harsher winter climates. By carefully monitoring this system, the companies will be able to compare the New York area installation's performance against several similar Proton installations located in warmer and colder climates.
As the prime contractor to Shell for this installation, Proton will be responsible for project design, equipment procurement, site preparation, and installation and commissioning. Air Products (APD) will be a major subcontractor on the project and supply the compression, storage and dispensing equipment.
"Working with organizations such as Shell and Air Products to showcase our hydrogen fueling technology is the right kind of collaboration," says Rob Friedland, senior vice president of Proton's Hydrogen Technology Group. "The station will support ongoing efforts to demonstrate the technology in challenging environments, enhance efficiencies and improve the engineering of an integrated system design."
Proton Energy Systems is providing its hydrogen experience and expertise to the project and will supply the fueling system with a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzer capable of producing 12 kilograms of hydrogen per day. The electrolyzer is expected to represent in part the future of on-site hydrogen generation for fueling stations with a retail-centric focus.
