Dillards Inc Is Tanking After Earnings, Here's The Trade $DDS

This morning, leading retail stock, Dillards Inc (NYSE:DDS), is trading sharply lower after reporting earnings. The retail giant is trading lower by more than 12.0 percent to $72.63 a share. Traders should note that the stock is now trading below its important 200-day moving average. This is usually a signal of further weakness for the shares going forward. The daily chart trend is down and the stock is in a weak technical position.

Traders and investors must now be patient and wait for this stock to fall into a key support level before entering on the long side. The level that strikes me as a solid buying opportunity will be around the $65.50 area. This is key support level is where the 100-week moving average is currently. It is also a key retrace level that was defended in early May. This major support level should be defended by the institutional crowd when retested.

Watch This Daily Support Level For This Major Retail Stock $DDS

Many of the leading retail stocks have traded sideways for the past several weeks. One particular retail equity that has caught my eye is Dillards Inc (DDS). This retail stock has been pulling back since mid-June. The stock is now trading below its important 20-day moving average which tells me it has lost near term strength and momentum. The next key support area for DDS should be around the $81.00 area. This level is where the stock broke out in late May 2018. Often, when an up-trending stock pulls back into its breakout level it will be defended by the institutional crowd.

Disagree. Dillards pays better than other retailers, inventories have been reduced over the years increasing turn rates and improving margins. There are always some customers that want a bargain, but there are a lot that want quality and are willing to pay regular price to ensure they get the correct size/color/style. Most all retail is having a difficult time currently, but nothing that hasn't happened before.

$DDS is a sinking ship says friends's wife who works for them. Too much inventory and cheap customers wanting discounted merch for reselling on eBay. They can't afford to pay there employees a decent hourly wage

Dillard's, Inc. (Dillard's) is engaged in apparel and home furnishing retail business. The Company operates in two segments: the operation of retail department stores and a general contracting construction company. As of January 29, 2011, the Company operated 308 Dillard's stores, including 14 clearance centers, and one Internet store offering a selection of merchandise, including fashion apparel for women, men and children, accessories, cosmetics, home furnishings and other consumer goods. In January 2011, the Company formed a wholly owned subsidiary, which was focused to operate as a real estate investment trust (REIT) and a wholly owned captive insurance subsidiary (Captive). During the fiscal year ended January 29, 2011 (fiscal 2010), the Company sold three vacant retail store properties.
