Devon Energy taps Ritenour as new CFO; Mitchell to depart
Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN) names Jeff Ritenour as its new CFO and executive VP, effective immediately, replacing Tom Mitchell, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.
Ritenour has worked at DVN since 2001 and has been senior VP of corporate finance, investor relations and treasurer since 2016.
Mitchell joined the company as CFO in January 2014.
Buy on the pull backs , Love trading Devon.
Probably a good time to buy right now when its down over 6% on the day.
DVN, Devon Energy, one of my 52 week low buys, zoom, zoom.
That is great glad you made $ on COP I see it is up nicely as well.
No worries. I made a pile on COP on the same sector upswing. Now looking for other undervalued plays. I agree. I don't think DVN will get back to the sub-$20 range. Can't win them all.
That is to bad that you missed the buying opp around that $ 23.0 I find it hard to believe that DVN will ever see your buy price of sub $ 20.GLTA.
Wow, did not think it would pop like this today. Still hoping for a lower price to get in. We'll see...
Looking really strong so far today, but I'm still thinking this is going to drop again sub $20. We'll see. Looking at the stochastics and the RSI...
Anyone have any ideas as to a good price to get in here? I am hoping for a dip back below $20 - but hard to tell.

Devon Energy ($DVN) reported better than expected fourth quarter core earnings per share. The company also cut its E&P capital spending outlook by 75 percent to $800 million to $1.1 billion and lowered its quarterly dividend to 6 cents per share from 24 cents per share.
Very poor call. Market looked like it was set up to trend that direction but capitulation never hit. Last couple weeks may be it. What do you think?
They may want to fire that idiot!
Should see below 2 pre R/S!
Devon Energy (DVN +1.6%) is upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform with a $58 price target at Bernstein, which believes the success of the company’s New Devon strategy has been overshadowed by the macro environment.
Bernstein sees a recent significant improvement in DVN's well results across the board, which implies a step-up in performance metrics if it is the beginning of a trend, and the ramp of Jackfish-3, which is expected by year-end and translates to "an end to oil sands development capex and a harvesting of oil sands cash flow."
Dropdowns to Enlink also may prove to be a catalyst in the next few quarters, the firm says.
Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN) appoints COO Dave Hager as its new President and CEO, succeeding John Richels, who announced plans to retire in December.
Devon Energy (DVN -0.1%) is upgraded to Outperform from Neutral with a $72 price target at Macquarie, on valuation and cash flow growth prospects.
Devon Energy (DVN -0.8%) is downgraded to Perform from Market Perform at Oppenheimer, which also removes its $70 price target, saying DVN's weak results are masked by hedging gains.
Thanks! welcome to the superior circus, some people here know pickens & hamm , small world.
Thanks for the notes. Know the area well from a private standpoint. Forced pooling is a good tool in OK. Actually these types of deals are usually heads up so you should be in good position with Devon. I can't speak to the rock or EUR but may have nice upside. I largely deal with mid to large cap but will think about a few under $5 I know about.
No its in Logan Co. ,Oklahoma.Devon the operator, but I bought the leases thru Superior. You can read all about it on Superior Oil & Gas Board (sior). What a circus, damn shame the stock would be worth .30 but the ceo is reluctant to relist it -read posters Wildcat & Sceaming Eagle.
Do you have any favorite $5.00 or less oil stocks?
Errol, I think I would agree in many cases. Heads up or operators having skin the game makes for the best scenarios in my experience. Your interest in West Texas?
first time W.I. Owner, Web site confusing- some checks are sent , some aren't, but finally figured it out ,I think.Having a Working Interest is a poor investment when you carry free the co.
Devon Energy (DVN +0.9%) is initiated with an Outperform rating and $92 price target at Imperial Capital, which thinks DVN's Permian oil plays could offer double digit growth for several decades.
@Errol - are they starting to not send checks?
DEVON where's my W.I. check- bunch of clowns ?
$DVN trades at just 1.2x price-to-book value and its enterprise value to EBITDA is below 4, among the lowest of its peers, the report says.
Strong growth in production, the company generated net earnings of $1.6B in fiscal 2014 and operating cash flow enlarged 10% compared to the past year.
At the end of last quarter, the company generated 82% growth in U.S. oil production compared to the past year quarter.
Might make a good dividend play at some point down the line

Watching it here trying to decide between DVN or VLO (think it bottomed out.
Also watching VLP it's soaring bit don't know much about it
Anyone familiar w/ recent acreage performance in Osage County? Just saw Petro River Oil (PTRC) announced an acquisition including 106,000 acre there.. Wondering if this is quality acreage.. Appreciate the help - thanks
$DVN on Tuesday said it acquired 50,000 acres and some production in the Cana-Woodford Shale in Oklahoma for $249 million in cash from Cimarex Energy Co. The deal includes current production of 5,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day, Devon said.
$DVN DEVON ENERGY IS MY TOP ENERGY PICK #OIL http://envestorfirst.com/2014/05/02/devon-energy-top-energy-pick-dvn-oil/
$DVN The company has a solid portfolio of assets in the Eagle Ford, Permian Basin, Alberta oil sands, and Mississippi Line.
$DVN The recent sale of Canadian assets is a strategic step aimed at focusing on liquid production growth, while the proceeds will be used to reduce debt.
$DVN has smoothly transformed itself from a natural gas producer to a liquid-based producer.
$DVN is gonna have a big year!
"Devon edged out Chesapeake Energy Corp. as the city’s top producer, unearthing 252.9 million barrels of oil equivalent in 2013.
Devon officials highlighted the company’s oil production growth, which results in expanded profit margins and cash flow, during last month’s earning call.
Devon intends to focus the bulk of this year’s capital budget on oil-rich areas, including its new position in south Texas’ Eagle Ford Shale, to continue boosting its oil production, which was 61.4 million barrels in 2013."
$DVN announces completion of strategic midstream partnership.
The company also raised it's dividend to .24 from .22.
"We are excited to announce the completion of the transaction and the new beginning for us as EnLink Midstream," said Barry E. Davis, President and Chief Executive Officer of EnLink Midstream. "Our vision is to not only be one of the largest, but one the best midstream providers in the industry. EnLink Midstream's geographically diverse asset base, strong financial foundation, and strategic upstream sponsorship from Devon Energy position us for growth over the near and long-term."
Company is looking great!
Eagle Ford oil growth comes at a price...
DVN announced an agreement to acquire GeoSouthern’s Eagle Ford assets for US$6bn in cash. I view this as incremental rather than transformational.
I think this transaction provides DVN with much-needed oil-weighted development inventory, although I think DVN paid full value.
Earnings call transcript
http://www.earningsimpact.com/Transcript/84300/DVN/Devon-Energy-Corporation---Q3-2013-Earnings-Call
$DVN (+2%) announces strategic midstream partnership
with Crosstex (XTEX/XTXI); could be a trend-setter. DVN
plans to contribute its midstream assets and $100MM for a
70% interest in Crosstex GP (XTXI) and 53% of Crosstex LP
(XTEX).
This transaction allows an immediate value-mark for
DVN’s midstream assets (Both LP and GP), reduces risk and
time associated with MLP start-up, and improves the LT growth
profile of the MLP.
It also provides Crosstex with a critical
upstream sponsor for future growth. The transaction is a
“win-win” for both parties in our view and could mark the
beginning of a trend for upstream operators (strategic
partnerships rather than MLP formation). Deal to close 1Q14.
Yes, I do... LOL! It's a matter of public record.
I go overseas for a few months and come back to a quiet board. Devon looking much better than when I left! Go Devon, Go!
For quick profit I like this price..
Long term investors this is also a very good price.
