A Bidding War For Dell Appears Likely.... I like the sound of that :)

March 23, 2013, 12:44 p.m. ET By RYAN DEZEMBER And SHARON TERLEP

A bidding war for Dell Inc. DELL 0.00% looks likely, with Blackstone Group LP BX -0.95% and Carl Icahn expressing interest in the company before a key deadline for offers expired Friday.

Blackstone and Mr. Icahn, an activist investor, each notified a special committee of Dell's board that they are working on firm bids for the computer maker, which will afford them four more days to put together offers, people familiar with the matter said.

One person characterized Blackstone's expression of interest as a preliminary bid. The special committee expects to get firm bids from the private-equity firm and Mr. Icahn, the person said.

The prospective bids would give the company alternatives to a $24.4 billion buyout led by founder Michael Dell and private-equity firm Silver Lake Partners.

Thanks.... I think there is still potential to atleast make 2x on your Calls by Monday. Im also contemplating the Quarterly 14.50 Calls that expire next week. With the deadline looming tonight, I would assume that if Blackstone does make a bid, it assuredly will come in AH.

Im definitely paying attention..... curious to see if any unusual Option activity unexpectedly arises. As, you mentioned earlier, DELL may see a rally into the close.

Another Dell shareholder, billionaire investor Carl Icahn, is pressing the board to forget about selling the company and paying a one-time dividend instead. In a letter to Dell's board earlier this month, Icahn proposed a dividend of $9 per share that would require Dell to take on billions of dollars in additional debt. Shareholders would profit further if Dell is able to engineer a turnaround that drives up the stock price.

I just got my hands on a Dell Latitude ST 10" tablet with Win 7. It was a Groupon deal with a 66% discount from list price. What a stinker: tiny funky keyboard, s-l-o-w, kept losing my wireless internet connection, overall a product that simply wasn't ready for prime time. Even with a 66% discount, it wasn't enough to keep it... Dell, your gettin' this dud back.

The project is being subsidized with a $200,000 grant from Microsoft and Intel and features access to the Internet2 e-textbook portal, providing access to free or inexpensive courseware.

Blackstone (BX), which signed a non-disclosure agreement with Dell (DELL) earlier this month, is reportedly considering a bid for the tech company to rival the $24.4B Michael Dell-led buyout offer. Dell's shares were +1.9% premarket.

Others are discovering that Dell has ton's of cash offshore, repatriating the cash would cause a huge tax burden! aquiring the company in a private transaction would not! Let the $22/share bids roll in!

Carl Icahn promises "years of litigation" for Dell (DELL -0.1%) if it doesn't combine a vote on its LBO with one for an annual meeting in which Icahn will propose a friendly slate of directors, in a letter to the board. Icahn also suggests Dell would only have to raise $4.26/share ($5.25B) in new debt to finance his $9/share dividend.

Definitely in play. No question. Icahn plays for dollars not pennies. He's in with approx 100 million shares. That is a very large bet.

Tuesday, March 5, 7:16 AM Southeastern Asset Management and Longleaf Partners send a Demand Letter to Dell (DELL), noting again their displeasure with the buyout deal. Interestingly, Southeastern has been selling Dell stock, more than 1.5M shares over the past month (it still owns 146.6M shares). Dell +0.4% to $14 premarket.
