Crown ElectroKinetics Corp. is engaged in commercializing technology for smart or dynamic glass. The Company’s electrokinetic glass technology is an advancement on microfluidic technology. It operates in a single business segment which is engaged in the research and development and marketing of technology and devices to control the flow of light through its optical switching film that can be embedded between glass or applied to the surface of glass making possible the electronic control of the opacity level. Its Electrokinetic (EK) film technology employs an optical switching film that can be applied to glass surfaces in windows or doors enabling electronic control of the color and tint. Crown’s electrokinetic film (CEK film) is derived from ink and microfluidic technology. The Company’s technology utilizes nanometer-sized pigment particles that are electrically charged and suspended in a liquid sandwiched between two clear substrates.
