GLW is a very strong stock. The best is yet to come.
A recent down grade and the Director disposed of that much shares and the stock still rose over 1%. Shows strength and resilience.
The cash flow should hit 2 billion for the year. It was at 250 million a qtr previously. That should easily support a $35-$40 stock. Im interested in the Saint-Gobain partnership and some of the IP they own.
I bought more Friday at 27.26, before the open, after I read this,
Corning: Optical Communications Business Shows Strength (And Is Set To Lead)
I first heard of fiber optics in the 1970s and think it is really taking off, now.
I think this can easily go into the mid 40 range.
Big money here. Even at $28, its still undervalued, especially for a longer term picture. You can initiate a position here, even with the break out. Super bullish on this stock.
NICE CALL. still holding.
Corning $GLW valuation models imply shares are 20% overvalued prior to earnings Tuesday:

Do you own GLW? It's the sort of blue chip no one on IHUB follows. And that's almost always a great sign.

Market cap now is US$ 25.49B They already are ending a $2 billion buy back at the end of this year. $4 billion more is another 15.7% less shares.
GLW has room to grow and I think still buying their shares back, too.

Looks like another 14 million at 44 minutes after. Must be share repurchase by GLW using the $4.8 billion in cash from the divestiture of Dow Corning.

Corning's (GLW) CEO Wendell Weeks Presents at Sanford C Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference 2016 (Transcript)
The second priority of the strategy and capital allocation framework is to utilize our financial strength. When we introduced the model we expected to have $22 billion to $26 billion in total funds available. We allocated $10 billion to fund our growth efforts, including RD&E, capital expenditures and M&A. We announced that we would return greater than $10 billion to shareholders, including annual dividend increases of at least 10% and expanded share repurchases.
Corning Inc. (GLW) said it had successfully exchanged shares of silicone company Dow Corning for cash and an interest in a semiconductor company, ending a 73-year joint venture with Dow Chemical Co. ( DOW). Corning shares rose 0.43% to $ 20.98 premarket.
Corning said it swapped its 50% stake in Dow Corning for $4.8 billion and a 40% stake in Hemlock Semiconductor Group, which makes semiconductors for the solar-panel industry. Dow Chemical now fully owns Dow Corning and will also keep a stake in Hemlock.
The deal comes as the solar industry faces challenges from low energy prices, expiring tax credits and pushback from local electric utilities.
This was good news, or maybe something else is in the works?

Corning slips 4.9% as Q1 revenues drop nearly across the board. Is this pointing to a larger economic problem?
Outlook: The company expects the rest of the year will be a significant improvement from Q1, and "second-quarter results will reflect the strong underlying trends in our businesses." Core equity earnings are seen at $50M-$70M in Q2 depending on closing date of the strategic realignment of Dow Corning.

Biggest volume in the last year plus. Something is brewing!
Interesting action today!
Tides going to turn here next couple of weeks. Not 30 by summer but fall it should be close.
THE CREATOR OF "Cup and Handle"
NEVER USED 5 YEARS. IMHO.
WHY?
Too long of a time.
Hello TREND1, I'm curious. Are you a Chartist? It appears you are. If so, can you answer a question for me. If GLW hits $22.33 and holds, won't we have a classic "Cup and Handle" formation on the 5 year?
Corning is a winner! I lucked out and bought 1,100 shares way back at $4.50/sh (Missed the $1.50/sh. by a whisker).Since sold 650/sh. for other stock purchases, (and wished many times that I hadn't sold.) Point is this old Dinosaur has turned into a Spring chicken.Great Company!
I've been reading some articles that speculate that Corning wants out of Dow Corning. I thought this esteemed group would have some insight?
Don't get too excited AAPL is like Walmart and will tighten the screws may not be worth it. Be careful what you ask for.
Gorilla glass bends, who knew. iphone6+ bend test.
$GLW just kicked $GTAT in the butt today, glad to see.

Corning sees Optical Communications segment growing twice as fast in FY14
February 7, 2014
09:30 EDT
Clark S. Kinlin, executive vice president, said that optical solutions will continue driving profitable growth for Corning's Optical Communications segment. He noted that the scale and rate of bandwidth growth-driven by video, wireless data, and cloud computing - are straining data centers and networks. "Optical-based solutions provide the most cost-effective capacity and speed to alleviate pressures on the network," Kinlin explained. He highlighted industry studies that show global IP traffic growing at 23% per year through 2017, with mobile traffic the fastest-growing component. "Our solid foundation of optical components is providing our customers with the necessary integrated solutions for today's growing variety of network applications," he added. Kinlin said that the company expects its Optical Communications segment to grow twice as fast as the overall industry in 2014.

Corning's core earnings were 29 cents per share.
Analysts on average had expected a profit of 27 cents per share on revenue of $1.93 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
They beat analyst estimates and it still goes down over a dollar! I can't believe people trade on headlines instead of what is actually going on with this company.
"We anticipate our price declines will return to more moderate levels after first quarter ...," Chief Financial Officer Jim Flaws said in an earnings call after the company reported better-than-expected quarter ended Dec. 31.
"If prices were to continue to decline like they are in first quarter, our competition would soon be incurring losses," he said.
Corning said it would still be profitable at even lowered prices as its costs are already lower than its competitors by a substantial percentage.
Great entry point IMO. This company isn't going anywhere. GLTA
