Since the FED decided Not to raise rates 3Q CRF's hypothetical may not come to fruition
More!! I captured the dividend as well...
Nice score! Up .50 cents already
It's announced in November. Occasionally? 13 out of 15 years it drops.. lol
CRF pays their monthly dividend like clockwork, look at a chart, its January the divy drops occasionally
Thats correct! The divy is good, what happens every November? CRF pays their monthly dividend like they always have
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/CRF/history?period1=1411099200&period2=1505793600&interval=div%7Csplit&filter=div&frequency=1d
Its every January theres a step down in dividend, November is a non event
What happens every November?
the next three months have already been announced so no chance of a decline until 2018 right now. We are good to go here short term!

No clue what your talking about, they gave guidance for the remainder of 2017 heading in to 2018 of CRF maintaining their .2289 cents dividend. If you have proof otherwise, post it.
Is that when they announce the reduced dividend?
CRF next X date 10/12
http://thestockmarketwatch.com/stock/?stock=CRF
I added some this morning
Usually the time to add is when a company announces their next divy but as a Fund they dont advertise other than giving quarterly guidance. With the dividend capture strategy the norm is to buy 10 days out from the X date. Others wait until the day before the X date for the low. Since they are finished with the offering we'll start to see the sp inching upward, so now is as good a time to add as any. Also consider CLM, same family but a little stiffer in the collar.
well the next 4 months are good to go and with the current payout this should be a 18-20 dollar stock. If they maintain the current pay out it could get there!
Aren't expecting a divy cut announcement next month for year 2018? That's the norm here. Maybe add after that..
thinking of adding a little before X Date but at this rate of price climb not sure? Think xdate is 9/14.
Short term here (120 days) we look good to go! I will keep a close eye here and see what comes of guidance for 2018. In the mean time short term looks strong.
Long term history looks awful but past performance is not indicative of future results! LOL
Go CRF.....
CRF/CLM will be giving guidance on their 2018 dividends at the end of October as per the most recent filing. So CRF's .2289 is solid until then but they didnt mention anything about a cut and given all of the strong companies they are invested with. I dont foresee that happening either.
went in for 500 shares yesterday at 13.95 with the money from getting out of PSEC. With the next 4 months of divs locked in here decided to roll the dice . Still think the div is too high but if the price appreciates a little it will look much better!
Don't see it as a long term but the next few months look good to me!
In looking further in to what CRF is invested in look at the top filing on this page
http://thestockmarketwatch.com/stock/stock-data.aspx?stock=CRF&a=showFilings
Form N-CSRS Page 15 to see how diversified CRF really is.
Im going to say the Monthly dividend is safe for a while.
Congratulations, they are invested in great companies sharing the wealth!
Yes this looks really good. Picked up a few thousand today. I like their holdings. Smart
Very NICE. I was anticipating a drop to $13.37 but that didnt happen. With todays news we could very well see $15.00 by weeks end. Im still getting a Phat check every month and with these bargain prices it'll become even phatter.
Nice recovery taking place here the last 3 trading days!
Lets not channel them just to $18.00 with the re-organization that is now complete lets shoot for $20.00-$22.00 :)
Yes and even better when it rises to $18 again. They hold a lot of good stocks. Next Berkshire Hathaway :).
SWEET!, Thats a cool $60K a year in divies. Their sister fund is CLM, costs a little more and pays a penny more per month.
Looks good. Might pick up 20,000 shares
It has its moments, they are fully invested in FANG, Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google among others. Pays a healthy Monthly dividend which really works out to be your own bread but in a forced savings type of way. The share price usually appreciates $3-$4.00 over the course of the year and they give quarterly guidance about the dividend. They just did a re-organization, the sp is rumored to base in the mid $13.00's so youre showing up at a good time.
When you see a magician saw a woman in half do you understand that it's a trick, an illusion?
Same thing with funds that pay out ultra high dividends when their underlying assets only earn 1% to 2%. There are major tradeoffs.
Dont bother wasting your free posts on me I have you ignored, only when Im managing a board do I see your activity
CRF stock has been in decline for years as you can see in the "since Inception" chart. Longterm charts reveal the reality.
http://www.cefconnect.com/fund/CRF
CRF is a tiny, gimmicky fund with a high expense ratio. Unsophisticated investors are dazzled by the high payouts which can include Return of Capital.
Truth is, CRF's underlying assets earn about 1% or less from stocks like Apple, JNJ and Amazon. In the long run you'd do much better buying/holding an index fund with an expense ratio of <0.10%. Worse still, most traders will buy high and sell low... as almost always happens to frequent traders.

Nice.. guess I'll wait too
Distribution Percentage for 2018
Are we buying now or not yet?
Today must be conversion day as we drift in to the $13.00's. I had the 25th written down for some reason.
Perhaps an affect on the share price but a ZERO affect on the DIVIDEND, Lu
NEW YORK, Aug. 11, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cornerstone Strategic Value Fund, Inc. (NYSE American:CLM) and Cornerstone Total Return Fund, Inc. (NYSE American: CRF), (individually the “Fund” or, collectively, the “Funds”), each a closed-end management investment company, announced that in keeping with each Fund’s previously adopted monthly distribution policy, each Fund is declaring the following distributions:
Record Date
Payable Date Per Share
CLM October 13, 2017 October 31, 2017 $ 0.2326
CLM November 15, 2017 November 30, 2017 $ 0.2326
CLM December 15, 2017 December 29, 2017 $ 0.2326
CRF October 13, 2017 October 31, 2017 $ 0.2289
CRF November 15, 2017 November 30, 2017 $ 0.2289
CRF December 15, 2017 December 29, 2017 $ 0.2289
I'm an expert on ultra high yield stocks, which is to say I never buy them. Studied several Cornerstone Funds in detail several year ago. Even modded a couple of the boards for a time. My highly accurate posts remain up I believe.
My experience is that virtually no one on IHUB understands Right Offerings. Do you? Few "players" look past the sexy high yield... until there's a crash.
Of course a rights offering affects the price.
Both companies gave guidance that the dividend was safe until October 2017, with the re-organization under the symbol CRT they are offering shares at $13.37. What happens open market is anyones guess. CRF is invested in a group of companies known as FANG. Facebook, Apple, Netflix and Google plus others, is the divy safe? I dont know, its a wait and see game until the 25th.
Scotttrader80,
Do you think that the Aug 25th RO will have a negative effect on the PPS, or any effect on the div?
X date is August 15th .2289 here we come!
Back in $15.06 average, a lot lower than the last time, average $15.78. Im good with these numbers, divy at this level is good until October.
Very nice drop off this morning, I think the low was $14.46? Gonna wait to see where it bottoms, wild fluctuations today.
maybe tomorrow or into the record date, people get confused when companys announce dividend record dates instead of the X date
