Comcast Short Interest
Comcast Corp.’s (NASDAQ: CMCSA) short interest jumped almost 34% in the previous period but then surrendered most of that gain early this month. The almost 67.52 million shares on the most recent settlement date was more in line with the level of short interest so far this year, and it represented 1.5% of the total float. However, the days to cover figure slipped to about two as the average daily volume rose for the third period in a row.
The latest Fifty Shades film gave Comcast a bit of a boost in the short interest period. While its share price still ended the two-week period down more than 5%, it was more than 11% lower at one point in the interval. The stock dropped more than 7% on Tuesday and closed at $36.66 per share. That is down more than 10% since the beginning of the year. The 52-week trading range is $34.78 to $44.00.
"Comcast Tops Profit Estimates, Boosts Dividend and Stock Buyback Plans"
Comcast will buyback $5 billion worth of stock this year and increase its dividend by 21% after posting stronger-than-expected fourth quarter earnings and booking at $12.7 billion gain from changes to the U.S. tax code."

Record high for Comcast. $42.
Revisiting this gem. Was clearly up over the course of the year-plus since......bad call
The number of Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA) shares short totaled almost 58.45 million at mid-month. That was more than 8 million fewer than two weeks earlier, which was the greatest level of short interest since June. The most recent figure represented 1.3% of the total float. At the posted average daily trading volume, it would take less than two days to cover all short positions.
Comcast is among the top dividend stock picks at Merrill Lynch. Short sellers watched its stock retreat about 9% in the most recent period, though it has regained some of that ground since then. Tuesday’s closing share price was $37.81, which is up more than 9% year to date. In the past year, the shares have traded between $30.02 and $42.18 apiece.
Bad company bad customer service this stock price will crash suddenly
It's quite funny.
Damn, I just listened to: "The Comcast call from hell" on that link. Thanks for that. Bookmarked to be played for others, although I see it's been viral for a long time.

I collectively spent days on the phone with Comcast during the 3 years I used them. Good luck canceling, they would end the call if they couldn't sway you. The family that owns Comcast (Roberts) were socially connected with one of my financial mentors. Comcast is a 90's era Dupont. A friend of mine was a Music Now exec and every time he had a meeting with Comcast he said there would be 6 redundant SVPs sitting down.

My most hated company is Sprint. About 15 years ago I'd often find unauthorized charges on my Sprint wireless bill. Getting them taken off required perhaps an hour on the phone with their "customer service." They'd tell me my kids were probably downloading ringtones or playing games on their Sprint account which was untrue and even more infuriating.
Recently the FTC fined Sprint $105 million for unauthorized charges
during that period.
Can't say I know much about Comcast. Wikipedia has a dim view of them:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comcast My shares came via AT&T.
It is regarded as one of the worst companies in the U.S. It's like GM in the 60s. And Netflix is Japan.
LOL! How many times have I said to never short stocks. CMCSA is a perfect example of that. I inherited a small amount a few years ago and it's almost tripled. Way outperformed the S&P 500. Been a fabulous div payer for many years too.
Lucky I don't have to deal with their bad service or I probably would have sold.
Actually it's been soaring. Hit a record high today. Plus a long history of dividend increases.

Comcast has, once again, been voted:
"The Most Hated Company In America"
... for 2016
"These are America's most hated companies.
1. Comcast (CMCSA)
The internet service provider and subscription television service industries are not known for superior customer service. In fact, the two industries have the worst average scores in the American Customer Satisfaction Index. Still, Comcast has a significantly worse customer satisfaction score than either industry average."

Comcast ... declares 2-for-1 stock split
"The parent company of NBCUniversal also announced a 15 percent increase in its dividend and reported a 2-for-1 stock split."
http://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/26/comcast-fourth-quarter-earnings.html
Up about 15% since this post so there's that......oh, and a divi increase
why in hell am i showing a 7.2% after hours drop in price? there's no news out to justify a 5 dollar drop?!?
generally buy on rumour and sell on news
i bought in after their last earnings report. looks pretty solid moving forward, i'm expecting some good movement post-split. could move strong leading up to that point.

Comcast is #1 on the list of Most Hated Companies in America
Financial news site 24/7 Wall St. this week released a report identifying "12 companies hated by customers, employees, and the general public." Their findings are based on consumer satisfaction surveys and worker reviews.
http://www.pcmag.com/news/350979/comcast-is-americas-most-hated-company.
Yet the stock price just keeps going up... up... up...
As an observer of society, and politics, etc... and being a long-term investor... I just don't understand (what I see as ) a major disconnect of cost verses value in the Comcast stock.
And how come the CEO can draw a salary of $36 Million per year?
Any opinions?

Case goes to trial in July 2017. If convicted fines could be as high as $3.6 BILLION.
Comcast rose 26% in 2016. Soaring now. Incredible dividend increases almost every year.
Comcast recently instituted Data Usage fees with a threshold of 1 terabyte. Go over that limit and the you get docked $10 for each extra 50 gigabytes that is used.
Well, I'm well over the limit so I went to the local Comcast office yesterday to sign up for the Unlimited Data Plan for $50 a month.
When I entered the office there were 5 other people waiting. Four of them had there hidef cable set top boxes under their arm. I asked each of them what their situation was and they each said that they were discontinuing their Comcast subscription in its entirety.
I think I may be seeing an emerging trend here. Comcast may have just priced out of the market a certain segment of customers. Comcast has announced a 3.8% price increase across the country starting Jan 1, 2017. I wonder it that is the "trigger event".
If Comcast was thinking they would make more revenue from these price increases, I think they may have just made a strategic blunder and effectively "shot themselves in the foot".
They are a virtual monopoly where ever they do business. In 2010 and again in 2014 they won an award for bring THE MOST HATED COMPANY IN AMERICA. Looks like they are trying for the award yet again.
Comcast just hit a 52-week high today. So I am going to look into buying some PUT options.
Wish Me Luck!
lmao yeah most hated company, yet they rise a whole dollar today lol yeh right

everyone just wait until comcast fails and implodes. Hammer fiber optic investments (HMMR) soon will be taking over this industry of monopolies unless comcast changes their ways. A fair warning.
Customer Service-Issues=no buy
It will catch up with this company the amount of customer service issues they are having. They are relying on that they are a monopoly but Customers always in the end find other ways. Think about that if you are looking at this stock for a long term hold/buy. Facebook is loaded with the negative customer feedback because it is the only way to contact them and you will see issues are not resolving. Raising prices is the only way this company at this rate will continue to beat the street.
