The fact that so much information on so many different levels is available and increasing by the minutes forces us to try and deal with so much that it could certainly shorten our time horizons. Yup, we just weren't hooked up. I like the sage adage of the 60's when I grew up:
Turn on, tune in and drop out. We've so missed the boat. Where are those two tickets to paradise? LOL.
I think that our time sense is screwed up due to the probability that we are processing so much more information in the same time frames. When we were kids and young adults we didn't have so many inputs in a short period of time. We weren't 'hooked up', with all of our gizmos.
Time seems to be getting so compressed now. Maybe it's just old age;) But the rate of change is beginning to seem almost exponential. Perhaps my mind is just slower? LOL. Growing up as a young boy, I don't think I could've ever imagined the things I know today and all that I don't.
"And there will be signs in the heavens..."
According to researchers at EMPact America, an organization dedicated to studying and preparing for the possibility of large-scale electro magnetic pulse threats that can destroy our modern day electrical infrastructure, the earth came dangerously close to a serious destabilization event. A couple of weeks ago the sun emitted a massive CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) that, had it been earth-directed, would likely have wiped out critical portions of the world’s power grid and sent developed nations back to the stone age within a matter of seconds.
Keep your eyes peeled for plasma fingers in the skies... Sign to get to safety,... QUICK! Underground is best.

September? That's the word going about. Even various FEMA docs are mentioning this date and time...

Massive solar flare narrowly misses Earth, EMP disaster barely avoided
What we know is coming, will come. We even have a firm time frame now. Some time in September is a good bet. This coming September.
August 1, 2013 – SPACE – The earth barely missed taking a massive solar punch in the teeth two weeks ago, an “electromagnetic pulse” so big that it could have knocked out power, cars and iPhones throughout the United States. Two EMP experts told Secrets that the EMP flashed through earth’s typical orbit around the sun about two weeks before the planet got there. “The world escaped an EMP catastrophe,” said Henry Cooper, who led strategic arms negotiations with the Soviet Union under President Reagan, and who now heads High Frontier, a group pushing for missile defense. “There had been a near miss about two weeks ago, a Carrington-class coronal mass ejection crossed the orbit of the Earth and basically just missed us,” said Peter Vincent Pry, who served on the Congressional EMP Threat Commission from 2001-2008. He was referring to the 1859 EMP named after astronomer Richard Carrington that melted telegraph lines in Europe and North America.“Basically this is a Russian roulette thing,” added Pry. “We narrowly escape from a Carrington-class disaster.” Pry, Cooper, and former CIA Director James Woolsey have been recently demanding that Washington prepare the nation’s electric grid for an EMP, either from the sun or an enemy’s nuclear bomb. They want the 2,000-3,000 transformers in the grid protected with a high-tech metal box and spares ready to rebuild the system. Woolsey said knocking out just 20 would shut down electricity to parts of the nation “for a long time.” But Washington is giving them the cold shoulder, especially the administration.
Looks like Comet ISON's dust trail and electrical charge may be one of the contributing factors to future events...
Like a flour mill explosion, just as I suggested so long ago.
Worth noting...
Space telescope spots gigantic hole in the solar atmosphere
July 29, 2013 – SPACE – A space telescope aimed at the sun has spotted a gigantic hole in the solar atmosphere — a dark spot that covers nearly a quarter of our closest star, spewing solar material and gas into space. The so-called coronal hole over the sun’s north pole came into view between July 13 and 18 and was observed by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, or SOHO. NASA released a video of the sun hole as seen by the SOHO spacecraft, showing the region as a vast dark spot surrounded by solar activity. Coronal holes are darker, cooler regions of the sun’s atmosphere, or corona, containing little solar material. In these gaps, magnetic field lines whip out into the solar wind rather than looping back to the sun’s surface. Coronal holes can affect space weather, as they send solar particles streaming off the sun about three times faster than the slower wind unleashed elsewhere from the sun’s atmosphere, according to a description from NASA. “While it’s unclear what causes coronal holes, they correlate to areas on the sun where magnetic fields soar up and away, failing to loop back down to the surface, as they do elsewhere,” NASA’s Karen Fox at the agency’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., explained in an image description. These holes are not uncommon, but their frequency changes with the solar activity cycle. The sun is currently reaching its 11-year peak in activity, known as the solar maximum. Around the time of this peak, the sun’s poles switch their magnetism. The number of coronal holes typically decreases leading up to the switch. After the reversal, new coronal holes appear near the poles. Then as the sun approaches the solar minimum again, the holes creep closer to the equator, growing in both size and number, according to NASA. -Yahoo

Earthquake Storms and the Electric Sun
Jul 30, 3013
Some four thousand years ago, the civilizations of the world were obliterated by a catastrophic series of events.
Earthquakes are natures deadliest killers! A storm of earthquakes totally buried and destroyed cities throughout the Middle East less than 5000 years ago. Men, women and children were decimated, with famine and plague curiously attending this collapse of civilization.
Doubt this? Then listen to English archaeologist Katherine Kenyon, excavator of both Jericho and Jerusalem: “The final end of the early Bronze Age civilization came with catastrophic completeness. Jericho was probably completely destroyed. Every town in Palestine that has so far been investigated shows the same break. All traces of the early Bronze Age civilization disappeared.”
French archaeologist, Claude Schaeffer, looked at numerous excavation sites and realized this was a worldwide event. That means Australia too! The Geology of Melbourne’s Port Phillip bay indicates numerous tectonic upheavals unmatched in recent history.
Could this deadly “earthquake storm” scenario have been repeated in Australia? Aboriginal mythology from the “Bunurong” tribe fearfully records just such a catastrophic event. Writing in 1850, Melbourne’s Governor LaTrobe, a world travelled geologist, noted evidence of ancient massive earthquakes around Maribyrnong. He recounts that in “Wathaurung” (aboriginal mythology), the Yarra once flowed out to Western Port Bay until diverted by an incredible earthquake!
Dating all these cataclysmic dramas is difficult. Schaeffer’s stratigraphical studies of buried civilizations proved there was at least five worldwide catastrophic events followed by lesser echoes down the ages. His conclusion was that these deadly scenarios shaped the ascent of man. Schaeffer maintained that nature’s catastrophes controlled the rise and fall of civilizations. Only arrogant man convinces himself that he is in control of his destiny!
But what do we mean by nature? Some of the latest researches are showing that the Sun not only controls our weather but is responsible for earthquakes. Weather, according to Henrik Svensmark, runs parallel to the Sun’s coronal mass ejections (CMEs) but earthquakes in most cases, correspond to sunspot minimums.
Sunspots are those little black spots on the Sun (each spot as big as the Earth) out of which solar flares and CMEs leap towards Earth. During high solar activity, the electric Birkeland currents connecting the Sun and Earth charge up, exciting Earth’s buried Telluric current circuitry. When, as in around every eleven years, the number of Sun spots drop off to nearly zero the Earth reacts. Then the stored electric energy discharges. Tremendous forces are released from the Earth’s circuitry. Result? Earthquakes attended by violent lightning storms and winds!
For instance, during the “Maunder Minimum” there was a period from 1640 AD to 1710 AD of no sunspots. Messina and Catania in this time were totally destroyed by earthquakes. Coincidence? Deadly earthquakes abound in history. Antioch 523BC (death toll 250,000), Sicily 1646 AD and 1693 AD (death toll 150,000), Jamaica 1693 AD, Lisbon 1755 AD and Shaanksi, China 1558 AD (death toll 850,000) to name a few.
Currently, major earthquakes are centered around the rings of fire where the worlds volcanic activity occurs. Yes, volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis are related! But will the earthquake hot spots remain confined to these grids? Governor Latrobe maintained that Melbourne’s history says NO! Changing electromagnetic astronomical influences may unexpectedly throw tectonic plate theory into chaos!

Edward Snowden: Cataclysmic Event Imminent?
09:14 ADG UK
This, while dreaded, IS our salvation... We can ONLY hope as fearful as it is, that it is true,... AND that it drives us as a species to a new way of life closer to the REAL systems by which we live. May we not forget where we have been and what we both gained and lost in the process. Human beings for all their irrational denial, odd superstition, arrogant beliefs and social posturing are incredibly naïve to believe our solar system is the paragon of stability. For six years I have been preparing and asking many of you to do so as well. This may WELL be what I was informed of and expecting since 1978. If it SHOULD be the case. I hope those of you who have taken heed shall fare well in the new world ahead. As Plato who writing the memories of a people from so long ago that still rings true today;
"...with you and other peoples again and again life has only recently been enriched with letters and all the other necessaries of civilization when once more, after the usual period of years, the torrents of heaven sweep down like a pestilence leaving only the rude and unlettered among you. And so you start again like children, knowing nothing of what existed in ancient times, here or in your own country."
~ Timaeus
Edward Snowden, hacker-fugitive and former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor, revealed Tuesday that a series of solar flares is set to occur in September, killing hundreds of millions of people.
Documents provided by Snowden prove that, as of 14 years ago, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) remote viewers knew that the event was inevitable. Ever since, the world’s governments have quietly been trying to prepare for the sweeping global famine to result.
Speaking from his room at Sheremetyevo Airport’s Hotel Novotel, Snowden revealed that government preparations for September’s catastrophic solar flares have been “to only limited avail.”
The flares’ results, he said, are known casually throughout the global intelligence community as “the killshot.”
Remote viewers employed by the CIA’s Project Stargate use their ability to perceive geographically and chronologically distant events to protect America. Since 1999 they have known about the solar-flare event but have been threatened into silence by enforcers on the secret government’s payroll.
As a part of hiring Snowden as a contractor, the NSA granted the 30-year-old access to all communications on earth. Now he has provided The Internet Chronicle with top-secret Federal Emergency Management.
Agency (FEMA) documents outlining just how terrible the solar flares’ results will be. In just two months, “the killshot” is set to disable all electronic food and water delivery systems.
Ever since the late 20th century, hundreds of millions of people have begun to rely on technological automation to enable their very lives. Solar flares release electromagnetic pulses, hazardous to electronic circuits. The smallest electronic circuits, such as those in computers’ central processing units, will be the most vulnerable.
Snowden said FEMA and the National Disaster Reduction Center of China have been taking steps for 14 years in light of the findings of Project Stargate. FEMA’s own documents, provided by Snowden, lay out how the organization plans to round up tens of millions of the poorest Americans for housing at secure locations “to better facilitate feeding and provision of consumer goods.”
Snowden, for years a CIA contractor, released testimonials from hundreds of remote viewers. Many of those remote viewers are still on the payroll of the governments of the United States and the Russian Federation. Those testimonials, though written independently by the analysts, are comprised of 4,472 pages, every single one of which, alarmingly, evince Snowden’s account.
“The massive electromagnetic pulse from the solar flares, or ‘the killshot,’ will shutter most of the world’s electrical systems,” said Snowden. “The Americans whose lives are most at risk are the elderly and the infirmed, those who depend on technology to enable their receiving home care or life-sustaining medical treatment.”
Throughout the 1970s and the 1990s, Russia and the United States were desperate to track and monitor the construction and maintenance of each other’s nuclear silos. The nations’ governments openly admitted having poured billions of dollars into the training of elite teams of remote viewers.
With their powers, the remote viewers were able to deter nuclear launches and, ultimately, bring an end to the Cold War. In the mid-’90s, the CIA simply pretended to close its remote-viewing program, so that it could operate more effectively.
Snowden said he hopes that his coming forward will allow Project Stargate’s participants to be able to live normal, open lives again, “instead of as circus animals, instead of as freaks.” He added,
“Significant others of Project Stargate employees have to get Q clearances just to cohabitate with, without even marrying, their loved ones. That’s tantamount to slavery.”
Humanity is about to pay a most dire price for its technological dependence. That price, said Snowden, proved a leading factor in his decision to come forward to the press about both the global Holocaust to ensue, as well as NSA analysts’ power, on the slightest whim, to listen to the phone calls of any person on earth.
Snowden said, with regard to CIA remote viewers, “I have seen too many brave whistleblowers become subjects of smear and ridicule for using their talents to expose the truth.” Added Snowden, bitterly, “Well, we’ll see who’s Mr. Chuckles when ‘the killshot’ goes down.”

Aha! We are both right!
The Chandler wobble is an example of the kind of motion that can occur for a spinning object that is not a sphere...
That is to say, an unevenly distributed mass. An object rotates on it's axis of most even weight distribution.
I'd have to agree thats a strong factor. But wobble? I dunno. Seems the spread is even. Like an iceskater, drawing her mass to the center pivot increases the rate of rotation to a point. UnLESS the core is off-centered. That WOULD do that. Hmmmnnnnn...
And this is the reverse of that.
Kinda interesting stuff.
The glacial melting is shifting weight from the poles to the equator causing ocean floors to sink from the additional water weight and causing the earth to wobble as it widens. The redistribution of weight is also causing changes in plate tetonics leading to increased volcanism and earthquake activity.
Energy shift? Popocatépetl volcano growing more violent, Philippine volcano shaken by 15 earthquakes
A trio of forces at play: A Supermoon, a geomagnetic storm from a CME, and the advent of the summer solstice- did these forces create a energy shift in planetary processes within Earth’s interior? Volcanoes across the planet have suddenly become more agitated.
June 28, 2013 – MEXICO - Seismic activity has picked up, suggesting that the volcano could be headed for more vigorous activity soon. SO2 emissions on NOAA recent satellite data have been relatively high as well. A magnitude 3.6 volcanic quake occurred on Tuesday night 23:57 local time and was located SE of the crater at 2 km depth. Over 3 hours of low frequency and short amplitude tremor were recorded. An earthquake swarms occurred yesterday as well and another one seems to have started an hour ago. The rate of small to moderate steam and ash explosions was reported to about 2 per hour during yesterday, with ash plumes reaching up to 1-2 km height above the crater. Ashfall has been reported at Tepetlixpa and Ecatzingo. On 25 June, with the support of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Navy of México, a reconnaissance flight over Popocatepetl´s crater was carried out. It could be observed that the inner crater has grown to 250 m in diameter and 60 m depth, as a result of the explosions of recent days. No other changes could be seen. (CENAPRED) – Volcano Discovery
MANILA, Philippines – Growing unrest is being reported at Taal Volcano in Batangas. The volcano appears to becoming more agitated. It has been shaken by 15 volcanic earthquakes in the past 24 hours. According to the Philippine Volcanic and Seismology (Phivolcs), there was also a slight increase of water level in the crater of the volcano. Ground deformation is also being reported on one flank of the volcano. A 6 km exclusion zone has been set up around the volcano to protect locals from any sudden, unexpected eruptions from the volcano. –Philstar
Meteor hits Moon
A meteor hit the moon and created a giant explosion. The impact was actually visible from earth.

A meteor smashed into the moon causing an explosion so bright that it was visible from earth.
This information was reported by NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office. This is the brightest impact seen on the moon in the last eight years.
The space rock left a 20m-wide hole in the Moon’s surface.
In an interview with news.com NASA’s Lunar Impact Monitoring program marshal, Robert Suggs, said the following: “We have seen a couple of others in the ‘wow’ category but not this bright.”
We’re lucky the meteor wasn’t on its way to earth, otherwise someone would have had to call up Bruce Willis.
Worst Case EMP Scenario? Half In U.S. Dead
Threat surges as sun spots zero in on Earth
F. Michael Maloof
WASHINGTON – The sun has kicked into high gear and produced four so-called X-class solar flares over the past week from a solar spot which is expected to come more into alignment with Earth as the sun’s activity peaks this year and next.
The intense sunstorms are expected to last as long as 2020.
Until now, the sun has remained relatively dormant, but with four X-class eruptions in one week, it is beginning to reach its “solar storm maximum” in this latest 11-year cycle of activity.
Scientists of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Solar Dynamics Observatory say that these latest eruptions are the first X-class flares that the sun has produced in this cycle .
Of the four X-class flares, the first registered at X1.2, scientists said. It was the weakest, but as the week continued more powerful flares registered at X3.2, which scientists say has been the strongest of the year.
The numbers assigned to the flares correlate to their strength. An X2, for example, is twice as intense as an X1, while an X3 is three times as intense.
The strongest flare recorded during the sun’s 11-year cycle was an X6.9. This occurred on August 9, 2011. The second strongest was an X5.4 on March 7, 2012.
The sun is going through Solar Cycle 24, which began in January 2008. So far during Solar Cycle 24 there have been 19 X-class solar flares, scientists say.
Read the documentation that’s sparking the worry about the EMP threat, in “A Nation Forsaken”.
Along with the radiation from the flares, there also is a coronal mass ejection, or CME. During a CME billions of tons of highly charged particles are ejected to interact with Earth’s magnetic field, causing radio blackouts and the shutdown or destruction of vulnerable electrical grid systems and sensitive electronic components.

Planet reeling from a swarm of earthquakes over last 72 hours
Twentynine quakes
May 15, 2013 – GEOLOGY – A flurry of earthquakes continues across the planet over the past 72 hours, showing few signs of abatement. Seismic tension continues to build across the Pacific Plate, the Cocos plate (Central America), and the Nazca plate, near South America. Tectonic plate agitation appears to be increasing, along with volcanic pressures under many of the world’s major volcanoes. -TEP
The sun's been ROCKIN' lately!
Sunspot AR1748 is crackling with X-class solar flares.
CHANCE OF FLARES: NOAA forecasters estimate a 50% chance of X-class solar flares and an 80% chance of M-class solar flares today. The source would be active sunspot AR1748, which is turning toward Earth.
ANOTHER X-FLARE ON MAY 15: When the week began, the sun hadn't unleashed an X-flare all year long. In only two days, sunspot AR1748 has produced four. The latest X-flare from this active sunspot occured on May 15th at 0152 UT. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the extreme ultraviolet flash:

154,300 Pound Meteorite hit the Earth last night
It landed in fragments in the Sierra foothills of California.
The meteor probably weighed about 154,300 pounds, said Bill Cooke, a specialist in meteors at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. At the time of disintegration, he said, it probably released energy equivalent to a 5-kiloton explosion. The Hiroshima bomb was 15 kilotons.
"They" the scientists tasked to protect us from such things, knew nothing about this until it hit the atmosphere at 44,000 miles and hour, getting so hot that it didn't burn it vaporized.
These same think tank expert types are the ones telling that nuke can be made safe, that we can "soup up" the clunkers and get even more power out of them, that only a handful of people ever got hurt by radiation from nuke.

Magnetic Pole Shift Accelerating
Gotta love it... Of course it means nothing!
I first noticed the magnetic pole shift around 2006, being a pilot and a solar engineer I often took measurements, and for a while nothing was lining up the way it used to, so I tried a few different compasses. I thought it strange, and I thought it stranger that no one was talking about it.
I wouldn’t say this was the “kick off” to my impression that things were getting wacky in the world. Maybe the first was the doubling of property values in less than 2 years that let me get out from an underwater property to a nice profit.
But lets put it this way….the “experts” are often just making stuff up, to get their grant money and help their universities get federal funding.
NASA is downplaying magnetic shift saying “it happens all the time”, as are other parrots of the “don’t panic the sheep” cartel. These things are suspicious. The experts can all justify their actions by rationalizing that avoiding panic is better than dealing with what is going to happen anyway.
Classic writing say that a north south magnetic pole shift happens every 320,000 years or so with wide variations, and that the last one was 700,000 years ago.
However, some pretty credible data cross correlated from the Black Sea, the Laschamp event in the Massif Central, and Greenland data, and shows a “rapid” 250 year complete pole shift, around 41,000 years ago, followed by a european super volcano around 39,500 years ago.
http://phys.org/news/2012-10-extremely-reversal-geomagnetic-field-climate.html#nRlv
And let me throw this in….what about that really cool rise of Cro-Magnon man and epic cave paintings around 35,000 to 39,000? Indeed, magnetic pole shift appears to occurs with a lessening of overall magnetic field, which allows more cosmic radiation in to the home planet, which allows for more DNA damage and the occasionally successful mutation that works better. Saber toothed tigers probably kept the cancer rates in check pretty well.
We are in a period of very fast movement of the magnetic pole, and it appears the north pole has the itchy feet and the south pole is more stable.
But nothing to worry about….NASA says the pole flips “all the time”, and other experts state that there is no evidence that a pole flip was harmful in the past (maybe check the IPhone data records), and that most people wouldn’t even notice a pole flip. Yeah, very reassuring, why don’t you guy at least focus on detecting these 153,000 asteroids like the one that hit the earth in April 2012. An amateur astronomer found it just days before it hit.

Twenty-year hiatus in rising temperatures has climate scientists puzzled
by Graham Lloyd,
Environment Editor
The Australian
March 30, 2013 12:00AM
The fact that global surface temperatures have not followed the expected global warming pattern is now widely accepted.
DEBATE about the reality of a two-decade pause in global warming and what it means has made its way from the sceptical fringe to the mainstream.
In a lengthy article this week ( http://tinyurl.com/cqnv7xk ), The Economist magazine said if climate scientists were credit-rating agencies, then climate sensitivity - the way climate reacts to changes in carbon-dioxide levels - would be on negative watch but not yet downgraded.
Another paper published by leading climate scientist James Hansen, the head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, says the lower than expected temperature rise between 2000 and the present could be explained by increased emissions from burning coal.
For Hansen the pause is a fact, but it's good news that probably won't last.
International Panel on Climate Change chairman Rajendra Pachauri recently told The Weekend Australian the hiatus would have to last 30 to 40 years "at least" to break the long-term warming trend.
But the fact that global surface temperatures have not followed the expected global warming pattern is now widely accepted.
Research by Ed Hawkins of University of Reading shows surface temperatures since 2005 are already at the low end of the range projections derived from 20 climate models and if they remain flat, they will fall outside the models' range within a few years.
"The global temperature standstill shows that climate models are diverging from observations," says David Whitehouse of the Global Warming Policy Foundation.
"If we have not passed it already, we are on the threshold of global observations becoming incompatible with the consensus theory of climate change," he says.
Whitehouse argues that whatever has happened to make temperatures remain constant requires an explanation because the pause in temperature rise has occurred despite a sharp increase in global carbon emissions.
The Economist says the world has added roughly 100 billion tonnes of carbon to the atmosphere between 2000 and 2010, about one-quarter of all the carbon dioxide put there by humans since 1750. This mismatch between rising greenhouse gas emissions and not-rising temperatures is among the biggest puzzles in climate science just now, The Economist article says.
"But it does not mean global warming is a delusion."
The fact is temperatures between 2000 and 2010 are still almost 1C above their level in the first decade of the 20th century.
"The mismatch might mean that for some unexplained reason there has been a temporary lag between more carbon dioxide and higher temperatures in 2000-2010.
"Or it might mean that the 1990s, when temperatures were rising fast, was the anomalous period."
The magazine explores a range of possible explanations including higher emissions of sulphur dioxide, the little understood impact of clouds and the circulation of heat into the deep ocean.
But it also points to an increasing body of research that suggests it may be that climate is responding to higher concentrations of atmospheric carbon dioxide in ways that had not been properly understood before.
"This possibility, if true, could have profound significance both for climate science and for environmental and social policy," the article says.
There are now a number of studies that predict future temperature rises as a result of man-made carbon dioxide emissions at well below the IPCC best estimate of about 3C over the century.
The upcoming IPCC report is expected to lift the maximum possible temperature increase to 6C.
The Research Council of Norway says in a non-peer-reviewed paper that the best estimate concludes there is a 90 per cent probability that doubling CO2 emissions will increase temperatures by only 1.2C to 2.9C, the most likely figure being 1.9C.
Another study based on the way the climate behaved about 20,000 years ago has given a best guess of 2.3C.
Other forecasts, accepted for publication, have reanalysed work cited by the IPCC but taken account of more recent temperature data and given a figure of between 1C and 3C.
The Economist says understanding which estimate is true is vital to getting the best response.
"If as conventional wisdom has it, global temperatures could rise by 3C or more in response to a doubling of emissions, then the correct response would be the one to which most of the world pays lip service; rein in the warming and the greenhouse gases causing it," the article says.
"If, however, temperatures are likely to rise by only 2 degrees Celsius in response to a doubling of carbon emissions (and if the likelihood of a 6 degrees Celsius is trivial) the calculation might change," it says.
"Perhaps the world should seek to adjust to (rather than stop) the greenhouse-gas splurge.
"There is no point buying earthquake insurance if you don't live in an earthquake zone."
According to The Economist, "given the hiatus in warming and all the new evidence, a small reduction in estimates of climate sensitivity would seem to be justified." On face value, Hansen agrees the slowdown in global temperature rises can be seen as "good news".
But he is not ready to recalculate the Faustian bargain that weighs the future cost to humanity of continued carbon dioxide emissions.
Hansen argues that the impact of human carbon dioxide emissions has been masked by the sharp increase in coal use, primarily in China and India.
Increased particulate and nitrogen pollution has worked in the opposite direction of rising carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.
Another paper published in Geophysical Research Letters on research from the University of Colorado Boulder found small volcanoes, not more coal power stations in China, were responsible for the slowdown in global warming.
But this did not mean that climate change was not a problem.
"Emissions from volcanic gases go up and down, helping to cool or heat the planet, while greenhouse gases from human activity just continue to go up," author Ryan Neely says.
Hansen's bottom line is that increased short-term masking of greenhouse gas warming by fossil fuel particulate and nitrogen pollution represents a "doubling down" of the Faustian bargain, an increase in the stakes.
"The more we allow the Faustian debt to build, the more unmanageable the eventual consequences will be," he says.

Moderate earthquakes strike southern region of Mexico
March 26, 2013 – MEXICO CITY — Earthquakes shook Mexico City on Tuesday, causing buildings to sway in the capital and sending thousands fleeing into the streets, as an earthquake alarm sounded. There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries. Mexico Seismology Service said the quake had a magnitude of 5.9 (5.5 USGS) and was centered about 30 miles (50 kilometers) southwest of Pinotepa Nacional on the Pacific Coast. The earthquake was followed by a 5.1 magnitude aftershock. –Huffington Post
4.1 magnitude earthquake shakes El Hierro, in Canary Islands
March 26, 2013 – CANARY ISLANDS - An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale shook El Hierro island in Spain’s Canaries on Monday, the strongest of hundreds of tremors which have plagued the island, which suffered an undersea volcanic eruption in 2011, Spain’s National Geographical Institute said Monday. The earthquake struck at 3:41 pm (1441 GMT) and its epicenter was in the Atlantic
Ocean about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) west of the island, a spokesman for the institute said. It was measured at a depth of 16 kilometers and was preceded by another earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale. About 800 earthquakes have been recorded in El Hierro, which has about 10,000 inhabitants, since March 18, the spokesman added. The majority of the quakes have measured above 2.0 on the Richter but only a handful has been strong enough for people on the island to notice. In October 2011 an underwater volcano erupted off the coast of El Hierro, two days after an earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale rocked the island. El Hierro, which means “Iron” in Spanish, suffered thousands of earthquakes throughout much of 2011, only a few of them, prompting officials to briefly close a tunnel linking the island’s two main towns, Frontera and
Valverde and evacuate dozens of people over fears of landslides. The Canary Islands are located off the northwestern coast of Africa. El Hierro, which has an area of just 267 square kilometers (103 square miles) is the westernmost of the seven islands of volcanic origin that make up the archipelago. The last eruption occurred off the Canary Islands, happened off Teneguia, Las Palamas, in 1971. –Global Post
Warnings issued for volcanoes in Peru and Iceland
March 26, 2013 – ICELAND – Icelandic police say seismic activity near the Hekla volcano has prompted them to declare an “uncertainty phase” — the lowest level of civil warning. Monitoring of the area in southern Iceland has been increased. Police advise people not to hike in the area, though it is not forbidden. Vidir Reynisson, the department manager for civil protection, said Tuesday that a swarm of earthquakes prompted the warning but are not necessarily a sign of pending eruption. Scientists worry that Hekla is overdue for an eruption; in recent decades it has erupted roughly every 10 years, most recently in 2000. Concern about seismic activity in the north Atlantic nation has grown since April 2010, when ash from the Eyjafjallajokul volcano grounded flights across Europe for days, disrupting travel for 10 million people. –CTV News
Peruvian volcano on verge of eruption: Peruvian scientists have warned that Arequipa’s Sabancaya Volcano is currently in a pre-eruptive stage. According to Domingo Ramos, head of volcano monitoring at Peru’s Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Institute (Ingemmet), Sabancaya’s activity has led the agency to issue a yellow alert. “We have already talked with local authorities so that they can warn the nearby population, about the volcano’s status, and how to prepare before an eventual eruption,” Ramos said according to the daily. Sabancaya, he said, is currently emitting large plumes of smoke, and is seeing between 300 and 500 seismic movements, Peruthisweek.com reported quoting Peru21. Fredy Apaza, a chemist at Ingemmet, said the signs of continuous gas release indicates that magma is rising to the surface, but said the agency was not yet able to estimate how much magma could be on the way. “That’s why Ingemmet has installed volcanological equipment and telemetry in strategic points at Sabancaya, we expect results within 15 days,” he said. -Andina
Meteor lights up night sky over eastern United States
March 23, 2013 – NEW YORK – A meteor bright enough to be classified as a fireball lit up the night sky over eastern North America on Friday, providing a spectacle witnessed in at least 13 states, Washington, D.C. and two Canadian provinces, the American Meteor Society said. The society verified more than 300 witness sightings from Ontario and Quebec down to the southern U.S. state of North Carolina with more than 100 reports yet to be reviewed, said Mike Hankey, an observer for the American Meteor Society. “This was most certainly a fireball seen over a good portion of the eastern states,” said Robert Lunsford, the society’s fireball coordinator. “It happened at a good time, around 8 o’clock on a Friday night, when a lot of people were out to see it,” Lunsford said. The society describes a fireball as a meteor brighter than Venus and Lunsford said they can be brighter than the Sun, as was the case with the one that streaked across the sky and exploded over Russia on February 15. Meteors are small particles from the solar system that burn from friction when entering the atmosphere. Several thousand meteors of fireball magnitude occur each day, most of them unseen over the oceans or hidden by daylight, the society said on its website. This one was seen up and down the East Coast and in inland states such as West Virginia and Ohio, the society said. The fireball’s likely trajectory showed it moving east from eastern Pennsylvania and across New Jersey, passing just south of New York City and then over the Atlantic Ocean, based on witness reports to the society. “I originally thought the fireball was a low-flying plane,” said one witness from West Chester, Pennsylvania, whose comments were logged by the society. Many witnesses called it the brightest meteor they had ever seen. “I’m still in disbelief,” said another from Boonsboro, Maryland. –Yahoo News

4.7 magnitude quake shakes Los Angeles: residents told to prep for 2 weeks and be prepared for disasters
Some are expecting a major quake sometime between now and March 23rd.No suggestion of where on the Earth.
March 12, 2013 – LOS ANGELES, CA – An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 was reported in Anza, California. The quake was the first of several that popped up at the same time Monday on the U.S. Geological Survey website. It was originally reported as a 5.2 magnitude quake but was then downgraded. The epicenter for the 9:56 a.m. quake was 12 miles east of Anza and 16 miles southwest of Palm Desert. Near the epicenter, Palms Springs police Sgt. Harvey Reed told the Associated Press his department received no reports of damage or injuries. There were no other immediate reports of damage in the region. It happened along the San Jacinto fault between the San Andreas and the Elsinore faults. This is a fault famous for big earthquakes according to retired geology professor Pat Abbott, Ph.D. “There’s always that slight chance – slight chance now – that this could be the foreshock of something larger. Probably not. Usually this is just an event all by itself,” Abbot said. “It doesn’t hurt to keep it in mind, in the next 72 hours in particular,” he said. “If a larger one is going to occur it would probably be during that three-day period.” Residents were urged to prepare for a number of disaster scenarios, including how to cope for being at least “two weeks on your own. The message for a lot of us needs to be, ‘Be ready for anything’,” said Battalion Chief Larry Collins. “The message used to be 72 hours, but we’ve seen in disasters like [Hurricane] Katrina, even [Hurricane] Sandy recently, that, really, if it’s wiped out your infrastructure, and your electricity grid and your communications, it will be very likely be more than three days before you start getting food, water and other supplies coming in from outside.” –CBS NBC
New Madrid quake: A small earthquake measuring 2.7 magnitude hit near Benton in southern Illinois this morning but appears to have done little, if any, damage in the rural area. The quake occurred around 5 a.m. about 11 miles east of where Interstate 57 passes through Benton, the seat of Franklin County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The closest town is Macedonia, population 50. The Franklin County sheriff’s office said it had gotten no reports of injuries or damages. The quake hit to the north and west of what is called the New Madrid seismic zone. Strong earthquakes from the New Madrid fault and other faults in what’s known as the Illinois Basin-Ozark Dome area have hit southern Illinois and nearby parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana and Kentucky over the years, including a series of devastating quakes in 1811 and 1812. The largest earthquake in the area in memory was in 1968 and registered a 5.4 magnitude, what the geological survey calls a moderately damaging quake. The last strong earthquake to hit southern Illinois was in April 2008, when a 5.2 magnitude quake struck near West Salem, affecting areas including Mount Carmel, about 80 miles east of Benton. –Chicago Tribune

The calm before the solar storm? NASA warns ‘something unexpected is happening on the Sun’
The year 2013 was supposed to be the year of the solar maximum, but the sun has grown strangely quiet.
March 9, 2013 – SPACE - ‘Something unexpected’ is happening on the Sun, NASA has warned. This year was supposed to be the year of ‘solar maximum,’ the peak of the 11-year sunspot cycle. But as the pictures (below) reveals, solar activity is relatively low. ‘Sunspot numbers are well below their values from 2011, and strong solar flares have been infrequent,’ the space agency says. The image below shows the Earth-facing surface of the Sun on February 28, 2013, as observed by the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) on NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory. It observed just a few small sunspots on an otherwise clean face, which is usually riddled with many spots during peak solar activity. Experts have been baffled by the apparent lack of activity – with many wondering if NASA simply got it wrong. However, solar physicist Dean Pesnell of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center believes he has a different explanation. ‘This is solar maximum,’ he says. “But it looks different from what we expected because it is double-peaked. The last two solar maxima, around 1989 and 2001, had not one but two peaks.’ Solar activity went up, dipped, then rose again, performing a mini-cycle that lasted about two years, he said. –Daily Mail
The 1859 Carrington Event was during a particularly quiet period as well. Roll of the dice, or luck of the draw. We shall see.
That is all you can do;)
Many of us I think have heard the cries of the earth for a long time, and could feel bad things coming over the horizon. Unfortunately, there was not enough of us who did.
It's like playing Cosmic Russian Roulette right now...
So many things now going on.
Yeah! but I'm good I gave it my best, and to see it!!!
I have tried for many years to be ready and I have known way back in early 70'es, I was given the light from an old Indian man on a boy scout camp out, we meet the elders for a Q an A, one look at me and said walk with me, we talk, did I get it all! I dont know but I have tryied to be ready my hole life, I live life but ready!
for what?
I do not say this eazy I have hold it in many years, the things I was reading in high school the thing I have done! for years
was to be ready, did I get it right?
I have live in the box to get what I needed to live out of the box!!!!
AP
BWAHAHAHA!
Me OG!
Don't think ya can ever be ready for an extinction event;)
I'm ready, I funken hope!
LOL! Don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. It's alive!
Interesting! We've been slimed. LOL. Not the first nor last time I'm sure.
From humanity's deep past, we encounter numerous ancient stories and tales passed down in nearly ALL cultures (including from the Bible) that talk of a very different Earth and Cosmos than the one we currently live in and see now.
Notwithstanding, there are certain cosmic events in history that are spoken of that apparently recur with startling regularity. Like that of, say, Hailey's Comet, but of a much larger scale and much larger time cycles, (10s to 100s of thousands of years)
Some of these cycles and events through time have either impacted and/or influenced the evolutionary path of our planet, or later, in the time of humankind, right down to affecting the cultural advances and declines of civilization as a whole.
This is an information and discussion board about those ancient stories and their potential meaning and application in cosmic and planetary events affecting us today.
We will be exploring the significance of recent changes in the solar system (global warming for one) and how such conditions may pertain to the stories handed down over these thousands of years. Stories which may predict, or fortell of coming cosmic events and what these ancient stories and more recent scientific findings may mean for us today.
In the dark recesses of human history, the Mayan calendar began as 0.0.0.0.0 Ahau, 8 Cumku which is Aug, 11th, 3113 B.C.
Interestingly, it is noted to end Dec 21, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0) some 5125 years later.
But why those dates?
It does not signify the end of the world, as some suggest, but the end of a great cycle. In this case, a number of cycles AND subcycles. All convening in perhaps one great event, galactic, planetary and human...
