$MY - MY Secures Off-Shore Tender in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China with 3MW SCD Wind Turbine Generators, Construction to Begin in October 2013

ZHONGSHAN, China, Sept. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - China Ming Yang Wind Power (NYSE: MY) ("Ming Yang" or the "Company"), announced that it has secured a total of 87MW in the first tranche of tender for off-shore wind power near Zhuhai Guishan Island, Guangdong Province, China. The winning bid comprises of 29 units of 3MW super compact drive ("SCD") wind turbine generators ("WTGs") , which is in excess of 85% of the aggregate 100MW available for this tender in the first tranche of this project. The wind project is to be developed by Southern Off-shore Wind Power Joint Development Company, controlled by China Southern Power Grid Ltd. Ming Yang will be providing a complete technology and construction solution including WTGs, turbine towers and foundation structures as well as project management. Construction is anticipated to begin in October 2013 and be completed by the end of 2014. The bid is subject to the execution of the relevant definitive agreements.

CHINA: Ming Yang is seeking to take over Vestas at a price of €1.5 billion to €2 billion, according to reports in the Chinese business press.

Citing anonymous industrial regulatory sources Caixin.com, said the transaction will be completed in September or October, if everything goes smoothly.

Comment on the story Wang Song, an executive director of Ming Yang, said "It is not possible to answer now." Vestas did not confirm or deny the report, dismissing it as speculation.

According to BTM figures in March, Vestas was the globally largest wind turbine maker in 2011, with 12.9% market share. Ming Yang, based in Zhongshan, south China’s Guangdong province, was the 10th largest, with 2.9 percent market share.

Earlier this month, there were reports Vestas is considering putting itself on the market and is in debt restructuring talks.

The UK's Sunday Times said Vestas' banks including HSBC and Royal Bank of Scotland, had told the company it needs to prepare a debt restructuring plan.

It said the banks had appointed Ernst & Young to handle talks with Vestas, which has itself brought in PWC to handle the restructure. The report said Vestas debts are around €2 billion.

Like fellow Chinese turbine manufacturers, Ming Yang has had a difficult 2011. The company's profits for the year have fallen from CNY 709 million in 2010 to CNY 292 million, a 53% fall in profit.

As with Goldwind and Sinovel, which suffered higher profit fall, Ming Yang blamed this on falling turbine prices in the Chinese market.

At this point, I'm going to sink-or-swim with these guys. Don't have a ton invested, so down 82% already. Not making sense to pull out.

I doubt anyone else from Ihub optimus, this stock has never been widely followed here.

I am shocked that it actually gained 5% after the earnings came out. I will admit that I have not had the time yet to read the yearly report, but just the surface numbers were enough to have me take my shares off at 2.20, assuming I would be able to buy them back cheaper. So far I have been completely wrong.

Could it possibly be that the market is now figuring out that Ming Yang is completely legitimate? I thought that the building of an R&D facility in conjunction with NC State was a pretty strong indicator of legitimacy, but the market didnt bite on that news. Instead, it is moving back up on a pretty horrible earnings report, down over 60% YOY. So MY is now approaching a P/E of 10, something it has never seen in its brief public life.

Therefore, I am forced to conclude that the perception of the legitimacy of this stock has vastly improved. I am hoping of course that it will retrace at least back down to 2.20 so I can put my shares back on without having to pay premium lol.

Already lost enough money here lol. And I really need to read up to see what the prospects of returning to positive earnings are, due diligence is an ongoing event, the party never ends.
