HISTORY
Established in 1995, Challenger Powerboats, Inc. relocated in 2001 to its current 12 acre, 65,000 sq. ft. facility in Washington, Missouri, where it has since been building some of the best high performance boats on the market. In 2004, Challenger’s 28’ DDC high performance boat raced by the Extreme Liquid Assets team won several APBA/SBI races and was crowned Superboat National Champion. In 2005, Team Gallagher, racing their Challenger 28’ DDC, finished first in the P-5 Offshore Class of the Marathon, Florida Grand Prix and set a course speed record at the Chattanooga Offshore Grand Prix.
TECHNOLOGY
Challenger’s 28’ and 33’ ‘Offshore Performance Series’ boats are designed and manufactured using proven world-class technology. The DDC hull is a patented revolutionary design by world-renowned marine designer Harry Schoell, which incorporates two hulls into one, resulting in a constant planning surface enhancing stability and generating greater transom lift. Challenger’s new ‘Family Performance Series’ of open bow boats spanning a range of 24 to 30 feet, are state of the art in design and construction, including its 24 degree hulls. Large expansive cockpits and bow rider areas, with plush upholstery and unmatched performance, truly make these a family performance affair.
All Challenger boats are built with hulls which include wood-free composite construction, ‘MerCruiser’ engines and sterndrives, ‘Cole Hersee’ electrical systems, ‘SmartCraft’ high performance instrumentation, and carbon fiber dash panels.
A NEW DAY
Challenger boats have historically been sold direct to the consumer. Since recently taking over the reins in mid-2006, Challenger’s new and seasoned management team revised its strategy and instead will begin marketing through the traditional dealer channels beginning in the Fall 2006. The new 2007 Challenger lineup will be exhibited at the following national boat shows in 2006-07; Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Kansas City.
