The Carlyle Group LP is a diversified multi-product global alternative asset management firm. The company advises an array of specialized investment funds and other investment vehicles that invest across a range of industries, geographies, asset classes and investment strategies and seek to deliver attractive returns for its fund investors. The Carlyle Group operates its business across four segments: Corporate Private Equity, Real Assets, Global Market Strategies and Fund of Funds Solutions. The Corporate Private Equity segment advises buyout and growth capital funds, which pursue a wide variety of corporate investments of different sizes and growth potentials. The 25 active Corporate Private Equity funds are organized and operated by geography or industry and are advised by separate teams of local professionals who live and work in the markets where they invest. The Real Assets segment advises 18 active real estate, infrastructure and energy and renewable resources funds. The Global Market Strategies segment advises a group of 43 active funds that pursue investment opportunities across various types of credit, equities and alternative instruments, and currencies, commodities and interest rate products and their derivatives. The Fund of Funds Solutions segment was established on July 1, 2011 when The Carlyle Group completed its acquisition of a 60% equity interest in AlpInvest. AlpInvest is an investor in private equity and advises a global private equity fund of funds program and related co-investment and secondary activities. The Carlyle Group has more than 1,100 employees, including more than 500 investment professionals, in 34 offices across six continents.
