I'm thinking the bears have yet to rear their head...
If anyone here can possible come up with a scenario in which the Fukushima situation somehow gets resolved on a "good note"... then yeah, "perhaps" we'll see a reversal.
But seriously, I doubt it. Politics is a major player in this now. Today's news reported Germany elections falling fully in favor of the "Green Party", which adamantly opposes nuclear power.
China...immediately stopped future projects until further notice.
USA???? Difficult to obscure the images of Fukushima on the front page of your daily newspaper - which pushes the door wide open for politics.
...feels like a ticking bomb...

Cameco (CCJ) Showing Bearish Technicals But Could Break Through $32.18 Resistance
3 hours 25 minutes ago - FreshBrewedMedia via Comtex
FreshBrewedMediaCameco (NYSE:CCJ) closed Friday's favorable trading session at $31.17. In the past year, the stock has hit a 52-week low of $20.70 and 52-week high of $44.81. Cameco stock has been showing support around $30.28 and resistance in the $32.18 range. Technical indicators for the stock are Bearish. For a hedged play on this stock, look at the Jun '11 $29.00 covered call for a net debit in the $27.27 area. That is also the break-even stock price for this trade. This covered call has a duration of 82 days, provides 12.51% downside protection and an assigned return rate of 6.34% for an annualized return rate of 28.24% (for comparison purposes only). A lower-cost hedged play for this stock would use a longer term call option in place of the covered call stock purchase. To use this strategy look at going long the CCJ Jan '12 $15.00 call and selling the Jun '11 $29.00 call for a total debit of $12.55. The trade has a lifespan of 82 days and would provide 11.61% downside protection and an assigned return rate of 11.55% for an annualized return rate of 51% (for comparison purposes only). Cameco has a current annual dividend yield of 0.87%.

The survival of man will prevail over the technology of energy.
There will be a choice - and the choice will be for survival, not destruction. Science will find a way beyond nuclear energy.
IMO
Every type of energy is needed. Even nuclear will not last forever.
IMO.... oil, solar, wind - you name it. Market is going to be verrry interesting in the days ahead.
...and what will take the place of nuclear energy?
Time to short Nuclear Energy! In at 32.
IMO - we're going down - waaaaaaay down folks. ;)

Will Cameco buy PDN?

From In the News (C-CCO) Cameco Corp
The National Post reports in its Thursday, Dec. 10, edition that Cameco's sale of its 48.5-per-cent interest in Centerra Gold has the Street speculating about what the uranium giant's next move will be. The Post's Jonathan Ratner writes that analysts suggest an acquisition is the most likely course of action. The Centerra sale means Cameco will likely look to buy a uranium producer as it seeks to strengthen its production profile, according to Rob Chang at Octagon Capital. At $2.8-billion in market market capitalization, Paladin Energy has long been a rumoured candidate. The analyst told clients that the Australian-based uranium company, whose shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange, is one of the better-run producers, offers arguably the best production growth profile and has no major strategic shareholders. Cameco wants to double its annual uranium output from existing operations by 2018. Cameco chief executive Jerry Grandey, who has highlighted Paladin as an attractive takeover candidate, in November suggested that Cameco will consider acquisitions and joint ventures with customers in Asia.

I hear ya made two round way trips of her today. Need to get back in and watch it run t0 $40 tomorrow.
CCJ is my stud in the stable.
Makes me want to cash out, but tooooo close to end of year and taxes time. I'll probably ride till Jan 1st. But if USU goes any lower, I'll have to split my shares here and bone up in that camp.
Makes it so easy to take flip losses the rest of the year with such a plus in the portfolio.

Cameco Reports Update on Dewatering at Cigar Lake -
Tuesday August 12, 9:15 pm ET
SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(MARKET WIRE)--Aug 12, 2008 -- ALL AMOUNTS ARE STATED IN CDN $ (UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED)
Cameco Corporation -
(Toronto:CCO.TO - News) (CCJ - News) reports that remediation work at the No.1 Shaft at its Cigar Lake uranium project was temporarily suspended today after an increase in the rate of water inflow to the mine was observed.
"Remediation and dewatering of the No. 1 Shaft had been progressing smoothly up to this point," said Tim Gitzel, Cameco's chief operating officer. "An inflow at this rate is disappointing but our remediation plan, as approved by our joint venture partners, recognized the risk and included specific actions to be taken at various levels of inflow."
No. 1 Shaft had been pumped down to 430 metres below surface when the increase was reported early Tuesday morning. Work in the shaft was suspended a few hours later. During the day, the inflow rate increased steadily to approximately 600 cubic metres per hour (m3/hr), which is beyond the range that can be managed while sustaining work in the shaft. The mine has a total depth of 500 metres and the mine underground workings are at the 480-metre level.
Work in the shaft has been suspended while the situation is assessed to determine the source and characteristics of the inflow, implications for planned remediation work and the impact, if any, on our planned production date.
Our current plan is to allow the water level in the shaft to rise to approximately 100 metres below surface. This will allow additional data to be gathered from instruments used to monitor groundwater conditions. As the water level rises, the rate of inflow will naturally diminish. This information will be analyzed to determine next steps. After this is complete, the water will be allowed to return to the natural equilibrium level.
As previously disclosed, the remediation plan for Cigar Lake includes options to address excess inflows including additional grouting from surface and ground freezing if necessary.
Pumping capacity is 1,000 m3/hr from four dedicated dewatering pumps installed in wells down to the 500-metre level. The water management system is limited by the treated water release limit of 550 m3/hr under the existing licence. There is a 74,000 cubic metre contingency storage pond at the surface that allows pumping at rates above the release limit for a limited period.
We will provide an update in our second quarter news release which will be issued on Thursday, August 14 with a conference call to follow at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time.
Qualified person
The above scientific and technical information for Cigar Lake was prepared under the supervision of Grant Goddard, a professional engineer employed by Cameco as the general manager of the Cigar Lake project and a qualified person for the purpose of National Instrument 43-101.
Profile
Cameco operates and owns 50% of the Cigar Lake project located in northern Saskatchewan. Cameco, with its head office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is the world's largest uranium producer. The company's uranium products are used to generate electricity in nuclear energy plants around the world, providing one of the cleanest sources of energy available today. Cameco's shares trade on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges.

Uranium is a strategic energy play..not a seasonal play..like
Indian silver purchases in the Festival/wedding season!
Uranium has been suffering because the price of oil/gas -
has been declining and uranium looks less critical..
But this is an illusion.
It's the demand..and increible future demand..for electricity -
that will ultimately drive the severe uranium pich coming -
in the next 18-24 months.
Why electricity?
Because its FAR MORE CRITICAL THAN OIL!
And everyones love child fuel..nat as...is in for -
huge price increases in 2009.
I hesitate to use ridiculous phrases like
"back up the truck.."
However... a sizeable position in CCJ..DNN..looks very solid here.
I don't think the downside is more than 5-10% in the worse
case..and the upside easily 50-75% by mid 2009.....
imo. tia.
