BankUnited, Inc. (BKU) is a bank holding company with two wholly owned subsidiaries: BankUnited, National Association (the Bank) and BankUnited Investment Services, Inc. (BankUnited Investment Services or BUIS), a Florida insurance agency, which provides wealth management products and financial planning services. The Company conducted its banking business through 95 branches located in 15 counties throughout Florida as of December 31, 2011. Its distribution network also includes 91 automated teller machines (ATMs), online banking and a telephone banking service. As of December 31, 2011, the Bank had 95 branches in 15 counties. On February 29, 2012, the Company announced the completion of its acquisition of Herald National Bank (Herald). BKU also announced that the Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of BKU, has converted its charter from thrift to a national bank and named as BankUnited, National Association.
