@EI - That is a tall order if prices remain low. Anadarko has a long runway ahead as the Wolfcamp remains a relatively new play for the company.
With ten rigs in the area, Anadarko plans to bring 80 wells online in the formation this year.
Over the course of a little over a year, Anadarko has been able to boost its Wolfcamp production from practically nothing to ~10,000 BOE/d by the third quarter of 2014.
Anadarko Petroleum has a bright future ahead of it in the Delaware Basin. Liquids weighted output and higher than expected production rates will make the play very economical, depending on what price Anadarko Petroleum can receive for its crude. There isn’t much Anadarko Petroleum can do to change sub-$70 WTI prices, but the completion of new pipelines will help remove the Permian’s pricing differential.
This article is following up on why Anadarko Petroleum is a good buy in light of its recent stock pullback due to lower oil prices. Anadarko Petroleum can’t control the price of oil, but it can develop high return plays that generate decent streams of cash flow which can be used to fund further shale development.

Texas Drillers Unfazed by Slide in Oil Prices (11/04/14)
Oil prices have dropped 25% as production continues to rise and demand slumps, prompting some analysts to forecast decline in US shale activity, but these arm-chair pundits are getting ahead of themselves: American oil and gas producers have been through down times before and they know how to dig in.
Energy Information Administration (EIA) data shows a steady and consistent improvement in drilling productivity.
An oil rig in the Eagle Ford basin that was producing 396 barrels per day from an average new well in October last year, is now producing 34% more despite slumping oil prices.
The Permian, which is now producing more oil than any other US basin, has seen an even higher jump. In October last year, a rig produced 79 barrels per day on average from a new well. Twelve months later, we have seen an increase of over 50%, with the average new well now producing 172 barrels per day.
More oil produced per rig allows companies to reduce costs, insulating them from falling oil prices.
The Permian is now producing over 1.7 million barrels per day and the rapid rise largely comes from the Wolfcamp and Sprayberry formations, the new hot-spot venue for oil rigs.
Dallas-based Crude Energy-a small independent exploration company with strong holdings in the Permian-has announced plans for another well here.
Crude's Blue Wolf #1 project is expected to be drilled beginning on December 15, and will primarily target the Wolfcamp, with a secondary focus on the Cisco, Canyon, Cline, Strawn, Mississippian, Fusselman, Montoya, and Ellenburger formations. Drilling should take a little over a month.
As Crude Energy President Parker Hallam noted in a statement: "The Wolfcamp continues to impress, but with multiple pay zones along the way, the potential payback looks that much better."
It's all about improving technology and flow rates, which allow companies to keep costs down and dig in when oil prices slump, such as through downspacing and drilling multiple wells from the same rig, as large producers such as ConocoPhillips, Continental Resources and Anadarko Petroleum are doing.
For now, Crude Energy's focus is on shrewdly drilling vertical wells to bring production online near-term, while identifying the most promising acreage for horizontal drilling.

$APC realized US$675m from oil and natural gas and minerals interests in 2013, and the company is on track to surpass this total in 2014.
yeah frack baby frack, its all good and safe... build that nasty oozy smelly pipeline across the country too, gas prices are CERTAINLY on their way down lol!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2611853/Family-awarded-THREE-MILLION-claiming-fracking-land-sick-verdict-kind-US.html
A Texas family have won a nearly £3 million judgement against an oil giant after claiming that fracking operations near their 40-acre ranch left them suffering severe health side-effects.
In what is believed to be the first successful legal action against a shale operator, Bob and Lisa Parr sued Aruba Petroleum for damages for a raft of illness they and their daughter Emma have suffered from for almost six years.
They convinced a jury that the company's hydraulic fracturing operations had contaminated their water and land in Decatur leaving them suffering nosebleeds, nausea and rashes.

Anadarko moved to the top pick (Maquarie) in the US E&P large cap space, even after its recent strong reaction post the Tronox settlement announcement.
APC Massive Put Option Buying Massive Secondary Stock Offering News Coming?? Company only has 3 Billion in Cash Kinda hard to Pay Over 5 Billion Dollars it cant do it from earning either last Qrt APC Reported a Massive 770 Million Dollar Loss for the QRT Company is 15 Billion Dollars in Debt all ready...70 PE Ratio for a Oil Company They will have sucked their oil wells dry by then 70 years to earn the current price that people are paying right now today for the stock with over half a Billion shares outstanding....
No posts since DEC? Loving this stock now!
Before this award the median price target of the 32 analysts that covered the stock was $108 a share, more than 30% above the current price.
Revenues are tracking to over 13% growth this fiscal year and Anadarko should post growth near 10% in FY2014.
Earnings will post better than 20% gains in 2013 and analysts expect similar results in 2014. Given its growth, shares are relatively cheap at ~15x forward earnings.
The stock also sells for less than 6x trailing operating cash flow as well.
With the pullback, the company has become a much cheaper proposition for a larger acquirer.
Speculation is increasing that the stock's recent decline heightens the possibility that someone will step up and make Anadarko the largest acquisition in the energy sector in quite some time.
Anadarko is the largest producer in the Eagle Ford and has prime overseas assets as well.
Anadarko Petroleum has taken a better than 15% hit in recent weeks mostly due to a result from an unexpected litigation decision. I believe the pull back in the shares is a good buying opportunity.
The company is appealing the ruling and I think there is a good chance that settlement will be reduced at some point in the future.
There's a question whether APC can appeal the TROX ruling. First, they have to find an insurance co willing to help them post at least a $15b bond during the appeal. Second, there's the possibility that they have the worst-case scenario and lose at a $15b level, when they could possibly settle at a $5 level. Then there's the overhang on the APC stock during an possible appeal. Their BOD may not have a stomach for all of that.
Another factor in any amount that is paid to the TROX trusts is the fact that APC will not get the tax deduction for any amount paid. A $5b judgment or settlement wipes out $5b of equity. The market only wiped out $2.7b of equity on Friday, and doesn't seem to have sobered up today. So I think there's more of a correction in APC coming as people realize the seriousness of Judge Gropper's ruling and its implications for APC.
I got out if APC when Cramer sold it at 96. Considering getting back in at these levels, you think APC will continue to show short term weakness?
We expect continued solid financial and operational execution and ongoing exploration catalysts to drive the stock higher.
We continue to wait for additional clarity on Tronox and remain optimistic about an ultimate favorable outcome.
APC remains one of my top picks in the large cap US E&P space and analysts are calling for Outperform rating and US$125.00 target.
Activity in the Delaware Basin Wolfcamp play in the Permian picked up in 3Q13 as expected. APC is now running six operated rigs in the play.
The company now has six wells online that have all had 24-hour test rates ranging from 1,000boe/d to 1,600boe/d gross with oil making up more than 70% of the mix.
We see the Permian Basin as an onshore US region that will attract a significant amount of incremental capital in 2014 if results continue to be encouraging.
APC recently provided an update on its activity in the Greater Wattenberg area following the catastrophic flooding that began on September 10.
Due to damaged roads, bridges, rail and other issues that impact the company's ability to move heavy equipment like drilling rigs and compression units, the company expects disruptions to its drilling, completion and capacity expansion projects. These delays, along with deferred production volumes from 675 operated vertical wells that were shut in due to the floods are expected to impact APC's total FY13 sales volumes by ~2.5mmboe.
Despite the delays in the Wattenberg are, Anadarko did maintain its FY13 guidance range of 281-287mmboe.
As conditions improve, Anadarko expects to accelerate its activity in the field to continue its strong production growth, with plans to drill 350-400 new horizontal wells in 2014, which compares to its pre-flood plans of ~350 wells this year.
It's all about the potential earnings growth! Well said Rink.
@JLD - Valuations of the company prompt me to say that there is a mixed bag of factors associated with the company.
It has P/E of 27.05, while its peers in the industry ConocoPhillips (COP) and Chevron (CVX) has relatively low P/E. Moreover, Debt-to-Equity is also high in case of Anadarko, as it has around 35% higher Debt-to-Equity than ConocoPhillips, and it is more than quadruple when compared to Chevron.
These valuations may scare investors wanting to invest in this company, but I think one cannot rely upon just these factors. Hence, I have taken two more indicators and historical stock performance, which are significant to look at.
By analyzing PEG ratio of Anadarko, I must say that the stock is underpriced, as it has PEG ratio of 1.26, which is the lowest of all the three companies.
In addition, EPS of the company is also expected to grow in this fiscal year, while its competitors are nowhere near to its 188.9% EPS growth.
One thing I like is a GOOD Divided stock. :)
@JUMP - strong dividend, strong drilling inventory, strong returns IMO.
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation ( APC ) will begin trading ex-dividend on September 09, 2013. A cash dividend payment of $0.18 per share is scheduled to be paid on September 25, 2013. Shareholders who purchased APC stock prior to the ex-dividend date are eligible for the cash dividend payment. This represents an 100% increase over the prior quarter. At the current stock price of $92.75, the dividend yield is .78%.
Mgmt had announced the $2.64 billion sale of a 10% stake in Mozambique Offshore Area 1, marking value in the region and building cash, which aligns with APC’s goal of reaching 25-30% debt-to-cap (vs. 36% at end-2Q13).
US Onshore drilling plans are accelerating and potential liabilities (i.e. Tronox) appear less of a risk as a large and growing cash balance would allow APC to announce a large share buyback program (10%+) to offset any negative impact.
Mgmt is still negotiating tax for the Moz. sale yet recent deals have received between 9.6-12.8% (we assume 10%). APC has receded from investor focus with Tronox unresolved.
We see resolution of Tronox as likely in 2H13 (due to passage of time) and an outcome sub-$3Bn will trigger a significant buyback and allow investors to focus on NAV, value and cash returns potential – driving relative outperformance.
Anadarko’s natural gas sales revenue is expected to receive a boost from sharply higher commodity prices.
Average Henry Hub Gulf Coast natural gas spot prices during the second quarter have been more than 75% higher than the previous year quarter, fluctuating around $4 per million British thermal units (MBtu).
The increase in prices can be partly attributed to strong demand brought about by a prolonged winter, which could reverse during the summer.
Moreover, rising hopes of higher natural gas exports have also buoyed the outlook for natural gas prices in the U.S.
I I bought everything he bought the commissions would wipe me out lol. I wish Cramer bought some more spec stocks tho, he always talks about them on his show, but never buys them. APC looks good.
I think you should do fine, what I do I buy every stock he buys, but some times I don't sale when he does. I don't have the kind of money he has, but I may only have 100 shares of some company were he has 2,000. It has worked for me for the pass 6 years with no complaints yet.
Yeah I have it too. The only thing that sucks is out of all of the ones he buys, I have two of the few stocks he picked and they have gone down. I'm hoping APC stays strong. $115 price target seems tough with the market at all time highs.
Yes I do, I have had it for the past 6 years and have made a bundle from it, I try and follow all he's buys and sales, but not all the time. It cuts down on a whole lot of Homework.
Try and help out people when I can.
Jump1 it looks like you have Cramers Action alerts software! That note looks familiar lol.
After the close Tuesday night, Anadarko (APC:NYSE) announced a 100% increase to its quarterly dividend to $0.18 a share, up from the prior $0.09. The dividend yield is minimal, at 0.8%, but the message is a strong one -- and we believe this is just the beginning in terms of shareholder value-creation. It also signifies that the company is confident about its financial outlook and balance-sheet strength.
You have to love the Dividend stocks. :)
