Got back in today at $21.50 500 shares to start.
The big rally started in '12 with Obama re-election. With Trump, there's no fear of attacks on 2nd ammt. to drive gun demand. I think this is a good stock to watch long term. Democrats will eventually come back into power (sooner if Trump is ineffective, later if he does a good job) and the gun buying craze will reignite.
Undervalued stock with 20% upside:
VALUATION ANALYSIS
The democrat boogeyman is gone. No fear to sell. Gun stocks short haven.
Went with a friend last Saturday to pick up a .22 pistol they had on sale. We got there around 4pm and they called in his background check, FBI background check system was down. We hung out until 5pm but system was still down. We left, they kept his info and kept trying. They called him Sunday and said it just went through. He had to make another trip to get his gun. They were very well stocked with guns and ammo, the main problem is the FBI background checks. The salesman told they have been having this problem a lot lately...
Kiplinger just said yesterday this stock is going to go strong. one of top 7 picks due to background checks more than double digit vs last year. Call your local gun stores and find out that guns are very hard to keep in stock.
The Bull Case May Be Over for Gun Makers -- Market Talk

9:23 ET - Amid "quickly decelerating demand in the US firearms market, a challenging early start to the key hunting season and the company's unexpected elimination from the U.S. military contract," Wunderlich now believes Smith & Wesson(SWHC) shares won't "see significant near-term outperformance." So it drops the gun maker to hold and cuts its price target to $29 from $36. Background-check data show noted slowing for August and September, including just high-single- digit growth for last month versus a year earlier. And with the industry facing "unusually difficult" comparisons starting in December, background checks might start logging declines soon. SWHC drops 2.1% premarket to $25.60 after having already retreated 11% since the end of July. (kevin.kingsbury@wsj.com; @kevinkingsbury)

Out for now. SWHC lost the Govt contract bid. Im out for now as this will drop for the next few days maybe weeks. Eventually will buy back in and this will rise up as people continue to purchase concealed and SWHC products
Historical patterns show that after good earnings there are several days you can still make good money. So I'll wait for the call.

Old news but still waiting
http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/06/02/breaking-us-armys-modular-handgun-system-moves-forward-downselect-3-competitors/
6/2
The US Army’s Modular Handgun System is slated to move forward, downselecting in August of this year from a reported 12 submitted proposals to only three, in preparation for the final competition. The program solicitation was released in September with a deadline of the 1st of February, but the deadline for submissions was extended to February 12th. Now, it seems the Army is in review of the proposals and is poised to choose the final three entrants, one of which will become the next US military standard issue pistol. IHS Jane’s reports:
“The US Department of Defense (DoD) will downselect a total of three preferred bidders in the third quarter of 2016 as its Modular Handgun System (MHS) programme continues on course despite recent calls to replace the effort with a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution.
…
Entrants are understood to include Beretta’s APX, Ceská zbrojovka’s CZ P-09, FN Polymer striker fired pistol (as yet unknown model), General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GDOTS) and Smith & Wesson’s M&P polymer handgun; the Glock 17 and 22; and Sig Sauer’s P320. However, sources informed IHS Jane’s that the DoD had yet to make a final decision regarding calibre of the MHS, although 9×19 mm and .40 calibre appear to be favourites at the moment.
…
The DoD has now begun an evaluation programme of the 12 weapon systems. A downselection to three is expected to be made in August, leading the way into a nine-month production verification test (PVT) programme. Following the successful conclusion of the PVT, a preferred bidder will be selected ahead of low-rate initial production and first deliveries to US armed forces.”
Earlier this year, US Army Chief of Staff Mark Milley questioned the need for the program, suggesting instead that the Army procure Glock 19 handguns off the back of a SOCOM contract for those handguns. We discussed this suggestion, and explored a few other possibilities for procuring new handguns in previous posts.
Strong bets are on SIG, S&W/GDLS, and Glock, with dark horses from M9 maker Beretta and CZ-USA. The odd man out is FN, who’s entry is as yet unknown. As for calibers, reportedly the .45 ACP is the least favored option, but no word yet on the 9mm versus its competitors .40 S&W.
“Phil Note: I was contacted by FN a short while ago and the information on the FN Five-Seven as an FN entrant in the competition is incorrect. FN is not at liberty to discuss their pistol at the current time. FN will contact me with the pistol information and photos as soon as they are allowed to release the information. My apologies for the misinformation.”
I'll reload at $21.70 it will get there in the next 10 trading days IMO we shall see ;) good luck to all ! SWHC
Today may be the day to reload . . . or wait until Monday when the dust settles?
Out of ammo waiting to reload ;) SWHC
Hey thug you still around ?SWHC on the rise ( for now )
Another Record Breaking Quarter!!! Congrats to all who had the patience to hold the past few months while this stock was manipulated, patience has and will pay off big time here. The next quarter will be record breaking as well with demand already ridiculous with gov't talking about banning certain guns, terrorism, elections plus more new products. I truly believe this company is performing like a champ and the share price will soon reflect this. We know Smith & Wesson looking to acquire another outdoors company as the cash situation is beyond good plus a possible Army contract for 500,000 firearms to be decided in 2017. I know I'm ranting just hard to find solid GROWTH stocks these days and this one is on point plus short interest over 8 million shares with 7-8 to cover which is always a possibility of a squeeze when you have that much good going on. I'll be holding a solid chunk for awhile here until something changes my mind but as of now this stock has plenty of room to go and I'll be more than happy sitting on this buying any significant dips.
Soon anything under $25.00 will be a deal ;) SWHC
Big Bang sounds nice :) SWHC
Big pop...or should a say BANG! off earnings!
waiting for the government contract. when SWHC is announced a finalist for the contract this will have huge growth, Then in 2017 when they get the contract SWHC will explode even higher.
I own 772 shares but just won't sell to make a profit off this latest cowardly act ;( SWHC
SWHC shares went up 26% after the Dec 2, 2015 San Bernardino TRAGIC shooting of 14 people. Orlando is huge in comparison.
Orlando killings. Gun stocks gonna soar
Looks like buying pressure has got shorty on the ropes ;) now it's time for the one two punch ! SWHC new highs coming !
Looks like the shorts gave it there best shot to pull it down but buying pressure will make shorty pay BIG TIME , fry shorty fry ;) SWHC
I agree 100% when it runs it should hit new highs way before election IMO SWHC
$25 is definitely doable with volume this week but this stock been acting goofy so coin flip IMO. 9 million shares still short and will have to cover soon as I don't think they want to be short going into ER but who knows. We might hover in this range until earnings but I think we see a gradual climb, the chart about ready to roll just need some volume.
Hit $25 next week ? SWHC
$SWHC a steal at these prices, still not even book value. After a monster consolidation period in that 22-23 range, I'm thinking we see a much stronger move up. Too many catalysts moving forward to keep this down much longer. LONG! No reason not to be.
