In an exclusive inSITE Report, resourceINTELLIGENCE takes investors on a tour of American Manganese's (TSX-V:AMY) (Pink Sheets:AMYZF) (Frankfurt:2AM) new pilot plant to investigate what could be the world's lowest cost recovery of electrolytic manganese (EMM).

American Manganese (TSX-V:AMY) hired industry leading consultants Kemetco Research to solve the problem of expensive water recovery in the production of EMM.
Typically, in the final stages of EMM production, water is evaporated from the remaining sodium solution at high heat. This method is cost prohibitive and not environmentally friendly.
The Kemetco process removes the salts from the water by lowering the temperature and then forcing the remaining solution through a nanofiltration system. This leaves just crystallized sodium sulfate, which can be sold for about $100 per tonne, and sulfur dioxide and water, which are recycled in the process. As such, the Kemetco Process costs less—as little as $0.44 per pound of EMM produced—and also generates revenues from the process of recycling water.
This process is also substantially more environmentally friendly than existing methods of EMM production.
American Manganese's Artillery Peak project in Arizona has manganese resources of 14.9 billion pounds indicated and 3.5 billion pounds inferred. (226 Mt indicated grading 2.99% Mn, 56 Mt grading 2.84% Mn.) This could be a boon for American Manganese investors, considering that manganese is the 4th most consumed metal in the world and is essential in most steel making.
Ironically, whereas "grade is king" for many explorers and producers, that's not the case for American Manganese. The Kemetco Process produces manganese metal from low-grade resources at a lower per pound cost than just about any high grade deposit in the world.
As such, American Manganese's (TSX-V:AMY) new production method puts the company on excellent footing in the race for lower costs in steel production. The company's trading range is about $0.40 to $0.60 per share. The company's billions of pounds of recoverable manganese metal today sell for approximately $1.80 per pound. With its patent-pending production method, it will cost the company as little as $0.44 per pound to recover the EMM.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire -08/30/11)- Larry W. Reaugh, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Manganese Inc., (TSX-V: AMY.V - News)(PINK SHEETS: AMYZF)(Frankfurt: 2AM.F - News) ("American Manganese" or the "Company") is pleased to report the Company has submitted its full patent application for the hydro-metallurgical process the Company developed to extract manganese from its Artillery Peak Manganese deposit.
Mr. Reaugh states that, "The process combines a series of conventional technologies in a unique configuration that is designed to be energy and water efficient. The continuous bench scale pilot plant test program that is currently underway is corroborating the conceptual process previously described in the report, "The Recovery of Manganese from Low Grade Resources: Bench Scale Test Program Completed", prepared by Kemetco Research Inc. of Richmond, BC. This intellectual property is one of the cornerstones of the Company's business plan."
Mr. Reaugh goes on to say: "The Company is financially strong with $7 million in the bank, more than enough to complete the ongoing pilot plant test, pre-feasibility study and environmental and regulatory permitting as well as begin the final feasibility report."
The current NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate of the Artillery Peak Manganese deposit includes an Indicated resource of about 92.8 million tonnes grading 3.27% Mn (6.7 billion lbs contained Mn), and an Inferred resource of about 107.2 million tonnes grading 3.76% Mn (8.9 billion lbs contained Mn).
About Kemetco Research Inc.
Kemetco Research Inc. is a privately owned contract research and development company specializing in extractive metallurgy, chemical processing and specialty chemical analysis. It was formed after the acquisition of the industrial process division of B.C. Research; which had been in operation for over 60 years as a research and development contractor in British Columbia.
About Manganese
China controls electrolytic manganese production (EMM) supplying and producing 98.44% of the world's needs (3.0 billion pounds per year).
There is no substitute for manganese in steel (total manganese market greater than 31 billion pounds per year, fourth largest traded metal).
Manganese is the most critical metal at risk to supply and restriction in the United States as there is no US production. EMM's greatest uses are the upgrading of specialty steel (47%), and the manufacture of aluminum alloys (32%) and electronics (14%).
Electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) for the battery industry is expected to be the fastest growing segment of the manganese market.
China has a 20% export duty on EMM and the US has a 14% import duty; (US Price $1.81/lb) the current world price for Electrolytic Manganese Metal is about $1.54/lb. Manganese resources are declining in China especially carbonate ores for production of EMM, forcing Chinese companies to seek production offshore.
China is currently shutting down production of EMM in several provinces for environmental reasons.
China production of EMM predicted to fall 500 - 700,000 T's out of 1.4 million T's in next 3 - 5 years.
About American Manganese Inc.:

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire -09/13/11)- Mr. Larry W. Reaugh, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Manganese Inc. (TSX-V: AMY.V - News)(PINK SHEETS: AMYZF)(Frankfurt: 2AM.F - News) ("American Manganese" or the "Company"), is pleased to report that Rara Terra expects to begin 3,000 meters of trenching, 1,300 soil samples and approximately 160 stream-sediment samples on American Manganese's Lonnie Rare Earth property located south east of Manson Creek in North Central British Columbia. The work will test airborne magnetic anomalies identified from the February 2011 survey.
The Lonnie Property has two showings defined by trenching (1970's) with a combined strike length of 620 meters (2,040 ft) with widths up to 40 meters grading 0.20% Niobium. A 56 meter chip sample on one of the claims assayed 0.05% lanthanum, 0.03% neodymium and 0.15% Titanium.
American Manganese has granted Rara Terra an option to acquire 60% in the Lonnie Property by paying American Manganese $60,000 cash, issuing 285,000 of its common shares and incurring $500,000 in exploration expenditures over the three year term of the option.
About Rare Earths
China dominates rare earths production (93%) and consumption. China has placed quotas on the export of rare earths resulting in a panic by end users, increased exploration and company's such as the Boeing Company contracting out their technology to aid in exploration of rare earth deposits. The critical situation in rare earths was first brought to public attention by Keith Bradsher, New York Times correspondent, in August 2009. Neodymium is identified as one of the more critical rare earths.

@StockNotifier AMYZF Video: inSITE Report: American Manganese Pilot Plant to Produce Low Cost EMM

American Manganese inSITE: Pilot Plant
.
American Manganese begins pilot plant testing for low cost EMM production
Welcome to another episode of resourceINTELLIGENCE’s inSITE report. This is a very special episode for investors who are seeking to broaden their understanding of mining processes while taking a peek at one of the foremost electrolytic manganese (EMM) plays in modern history—American Manganese (TSXV: AMY).
American Manganese—with the help of Kemetco Research and some very creative thinking—have managed to produce what could be the lowest cost EMM in the world. Today we’re going to be visiting the pilot plant where resources from American Manganese’s Artillery Peak project in Arizona is processed into EMM and EMD. It’s a giant, patent-pending-leap forward for the company, which has manganese resources of 14.9 billion pounds indicated and 3.5 billion pounds inferred. That’s a lot of manganese. This is also a very big deal considering that manganese is the 4th most consumed metal in the world.cv
View the full AMY chart at Wikinvest
To some investors, “grade is king”, but not so for American Manganese. Ironically, the company has unlocked a way to produce manganese metal from low-grade resources at a lower per pound cost than just about any high grade deposit in the world. To do that, American Manganese’s CEO, Larry Reaugh, hired Kemetco Research out of Vancouver, BC, to solve an age old problem: How to create a closed circuit process where water and power are recycled rather than wasted.Kemetco’s breakthrough, it turns out, is up to 12.4 times (or 1,139%) more energy efficient in its water recovery than conventional methods in low-grade manganese mining. This dramatically lowers the overall cost of production.THE KEMETCO PROCESS: Up to 12.4 times more energy efficient.
This low-cost process includes several steps that use existing technologies and one high tech step that leads to incredible cost savings.
First the resources from the Artillery Peak project—which is already very brittle or friable—is crushed. Then in the plant, the metals are leached from the crushed resources… the resulting solution is thickened and solid waste is separated from the metals solution.
The solid waste is then rinsed and cleaned in the Counter Current Decantation (CCD) process while the mineralized or Pregnant Leach Solution (PLS) is purified, mixed with sodium carbonate. Finally the manganese metal is consolidated into pure manganese plates in an electrowinning circuit.
You’d think that was the end, but it’s not, because this is where the groundbreaking, cost-saving stuff begins: The remaining sodium solution contains a lot of water that needs to be removed at very high heat—very expensive and very wasteful.
The Kemetco process removes the salts from the water by lowering the temperature and then forcing the remaining solution through a nanofiltration system. This leaves just crystallized sodium sulfate, which can be sold for about $100 per tonne, and sulfur dioxide and water, which are recycled in the process. So, not only does it cost less, but the Kemetco Process actually generates revenues from the process of recycling water.
American Manganese (TSXV: AMY) is truly a value play if there ever was one: The company’s trading range is about $0.50 to $0.60 and yet it has billions and billions of pounds of recoverable manganese metal. EMM is worth $1.80 per pound. With it’s patent-pending production methods, It will cost the company as little as $0.44 per pound to recover it, which is a fraction of most competitors’ operating costs. Do the math: that’s a profit potential of about about $1.36 profit per pound.
Please note: This presentation may contain forward-looking statements including but not limited to comments regarding the timing and content of upcoming work programs, geological interpretations, receipt of property titles, potential mineral recovery processes, etc. Forward-looking statements address future events and conditions and therefore involve inherent risks and uncertainties. Actual results may differ materially from those currently anticipated in such statements. The Issuer relies upon litigation protection for forward-looking statements. I played the uranium sector this time last year and what moved those a lot of the times is the permits. I feel the permits will push this from the $.50's $.60's strat up to the $1.40 and north of that real fasts. Then if the patents happen around that time, will be looking at the $3.00 area. With all the news on the patents going on, I think we are go have to hear something of a time line based news on mining patents. Once they get the permits you can bet that there going to be talking about AMYZF on CNBC. I just picked up some shares, but I'm going to load up around permit time. Come mid 2015 this could be in the $12.00 JMO

Nice mention in this article.

Yawn, we're over at the more active AMY.v board at I-Hub, and also at the v.AMY bullboard at www.Stockhouse.com.
Chris and Joeiniowa and myself have been posting a lot of stuff the last month and more....
I forgot to bookmark this board as a favorite when i started researching AMY which is why i've not read anything or posted anything til now.... It suddenly came to me that there might be a board for AMY's USA ticker symbol.
But in the interest of economizing precious time, i'll only stick with those other two boards.
Where did everybody go?
Just saw a tv commercial on Fox Business Closing Bell about AMYZF
so, what'da think?
Thanks! Believe it or not, I found it the current AMY board from the Yahoo Message board. It struck me as odd in the beginning that no one was keeping the board current considering what a great play this is turning out to be.
Just watched all the interviews and read almost all of the filings on Sedar, and this could be a better play than gwg...considering AMY's lesser float and share structure....
... And the CEO sounds very competent and knows his stuff.
... thanks for your dd
Here is the other American Manganese board if your interested, it is current...
