The White House report sees the growing volume of spent lithium-ion batteries as a resource too often lost to landfills or shipped abroad for recoveries. "When the White House says that ‘Domestic economical recycling could reduce exports of valuable resources and increase the quantity available to the U.S. battery supply chain' we could not agree more," said Larry Reaugh, President and CEO of American Manganese Inc. "This is the strongest statement to date that indicates momentum is building to bring public policy in line with private-sector innovation to meet the massive new needs for critical minerals."

The White House report included the following recommendations:

"To secure cobalt supply and guard against price fluctuations, the United States could consider investing in battery recycling infrastructure and technology development. Immediate focus should include investment to increase capacity and scale-up of recycling facilities, and investigation of pathways for early Federal purchase of recycling waste streams to the furthest extent possible.

Executive actions could include grants, loans, and policies to encourage safe domestic recycling. Some examples of potential legislative actions could include tax incentives, a landfill ban, an extended producer responsibility mandate, or a recycling mandate."

The White House report comes as AMY's RecycLiCo battery recycling work continues to progress. "The report noted that ‘during cell manufacture, production scrap is a key source of material for recycling,'" Mr. Reaugh noted. "American Manganese has been conducting recycling tests with battery cell manufacturing scrap since we commissioned our pilot plant in 2019 and are pleased to be recognized in the report as a North American recycler (Pg.108). However, to encourage the domestic recycling of battery production scrap - we need North American cathode and battery manufacturing capacity to integrate our recycling technology alongside them, otherwise recycled material would be shipped overseas to manufacture new battery cells."

The ‘100-Day Battery Supply Chain Review' follows American Manganese's recent press release regarding the production of cathode precursor material directly from recycled lithium-ion battery NMC (lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide) cathode waste. As a pioneer in advanced battery recycling, AMY is continuously innovating and enhancing its process because as indicated in the report - ‘In the longer-term, new technologies will expedite cost-effective recycling.'

The White House report also directed that "The United States should establish targeted incentives and strategic stockpiling for recycling and purification infrastructure and form a Battery Recovery and Recycling Task Force consisting of DOE, EPA, DOI, USGS, DOT, Commerce, and DOD."

By adjusting the ratio of the leached metals, it would give RecycLiCo™ the ability to recycle older cathode chemistries, such as NMC-111, and transform the end-product into modern cathode chemistries, such as NMC-622 or NMC-811, in one closed-loop process. The Company will test this concept in its next production batch.

Prior to the shipment of samples, American Manganese analyzed the purity levels of select elements using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES), which determined that the recycled material outperformed the purity of commercial grade NCA cathode precursor material with respect to the undesirable elements shown in the comparison table below.

Completed and filed a NI43-101 technical report
Applied for drilling and work permits
Established and developed a good working relationship with First Nations on land affected by drilling and work programs.
The Rocher Deboule deposit has had historic production of 36,457 tonnes containing 2,167,780 grams silver, 133,676 grams gold and 2,557,433 kilograms of copper between 1915 and 1929; the adjacent Highland Boy produced 68 tonnes containing 1,089 grams silver, 124 grams gold and 4,760 kilograms of copper, and the nearby Victoria produced 51 tonnes, containing 7,341 grams gold, 7,710 kilograms of arsenic and 785 kilograms of cobalt between 1926 and 1940. These mineral deposits are associated with the Late Cretaceous Bulkley Plutonic Suite, and the Rocher Deboule feldspar porphyry stock. Recent fieldwork involving rock and soil sampling of the western portion of the claims has revealed potential for "Iron Oxide Copper Gold" deposit types. The Victoria No 3 Vein trends west towards Upper Cretaceous Kasalka Fm volcanic-hosted garnet-sericite-illite-quartz-calcite-chlorite-actinolite alteration. A Qualified Person (as that term is defined under National Instrument 43-101) has not done sufficient work to classify the foregoing historical estimates as current mineral resources or mineral reserves and the Company is not treating the historical estimates as current mineral resources or mineral reserves.

AMY also reports that after thoughtful consideration by its management and board of directors, the Company will not proceed with the proposed spin-out of its BC mineral assets into a new company as originally announced in July 2020. The Company believes that AMY's current share structure makes it onerous to comply with the TSX Venture Exchange's policies with respect to spinouts, and that such a transaction will not necessarily increase shareholder value.

?Italvolt, a company founded and led by Lars Carlstrom, former founder of Britishvolt, has said it will invest 4 billion euros to build the first Gigafactory in Italy, to meet the growing demand for lithium-ion batteries from the European automotive industry. Italvolt will be the first Gigafactory in Italy and the largest in Europe and the twelfth in the world in size: with a final production target of 70 GWh per year, the first phase of the new plant should be completed in 2024, with a capacity of 45 GWh and 300,000 m2 expected. The European Union is pushing to increase battery production on the continent to compete with China, which currently hosts about 80% of the world's production capacity of lithium-ion cells, with the aim of being self-sufficient by 2025: the lithium-ion cell production market is in the hands of China, South Korea, Japan and the USA.?

Well it’s not easy for sure. For leisure travel things are closed, but if you have business, have a recent negative COVID test and are vaccinated, things are easier and I can get around Europe. I’m military and travel from Germany to Sweden to Norway to Belgium, etc.... I’m allowed a lot because I’m vaccinated twice over. Any way, I’d love to go check on our investment!

We talked to Lars Carlstrom, CEO of Italvolt but above all a lifetime entrepreneur determined to make a change.

Italvolt is the first and largest next-generation Gigafactory in Southern Europe. With a capacity of 45 GW, this Italian based factory is going to be able to supply the European market with green, sustainable batteries.

Lars deems his mission is to change society impacting positively areas in decline. As a matter of fact, Italvolt slogan shows how further it goes: 'Beyond energy': it's not only about batteries, they are just a tool to contribute to the big change!
