Should be an interesting trading day tomorrow. I think for a multi-billion dollar business, this stock is way undervalued. Looking for tomorrow to be a positive step in the right direction to correct it's value.

Where as I am not surprised that last shareholder meeting was delayed, the price has relatively held as we await the results of the meeting. The new reports and information appear to contain more substance and I view the meeting as having a lot more positive momentum than it did a week and a half ago.

Of course stocks are always a gamble, but I'm extremely interested to see how the results of the meeting affect the share price. I feel like from my understanding, the sale is pretty much a done deal, but can't be approved until agreed upon by the shareholders (who I am imagining would want the sale)

SAO PAULO-The merger between Brazilian telecom giant Oi SA and Portugal Telecom (PT) will go ahead, despite a court rejection of a creditor-protection request from the main holding companies of the Espirito Santo empire.
At the start of October, then Oi's chief executive Zeinal Bava resigned from his post after major Oi shareholders began to have doubts about Mr. Bava's leadership in the wake of news that the Portuguese firm he used to run lent EUR897 million ($1.22 billion) to a firm called Rio Forte, which was a unit of Espírito Santo International, part of the troubled Portuguese financial group of the same name.
Last week, a court in Luxembourg has denied a creditor-protection request by Espirito Santo International SA (001190440.LU) and Rioforte Investments SA, which filed the request in July after they were unable to meet debt obligations. The rejection paved the way for a liquidation of all its assets.
"A possible liquidation of the assets of Rio Forte Investments S.A., as a result of the rejection of the request for controlled management for Rio Forte, shall have no impact on the development of the business combination and the merging of the shareholder bases of Oi, Portugal Telecom SGPS S.A. and TmarPart," said Oi, highlighting that the merger of shares is likely to take place until the end of the first quarter of 2015.
Oi's statement came after a drastic decline of company's shares. On Monday, Oi's shares dropped 7.63% in Sao Paulo, while the main stock market index, the Ibovespa, fell 2.55%.

If you're buying into PT now, you have to remember that they should finish off a merger with OI (BR) in 2014.

Key component to remember if you're considering a purchase:
As part of the terms of the Oi transaction, each Portugal Telecom share will be exchanged into 0.633 share of the enlarged company, plus the equivalent of 2.29 euros in the new entity’s shares at the price of the planned capital increase. Oi investors will get 1 share in the new company for each Oi voting share or 0.92 share of the new company for each non-voting Oi share.

(Where I get confused is how exactly to calculate what the 2.29 euros come out to?)

This puts PT/BR in a better competitive playing field against Telefonica, which means the prospects could be very, very good:
