It was moderated by Rohit Jain, MD, CoinDCX Ventures. “What I keep hearing from the global web3 community is that while India has phenomenal developers and builders in the web3 space, the market in India can be a little bit of a challenge,” said Rohit Jain, while pointing out that even web2 companies built out of India have had their fair share of challenges.

The panel discussions were followed by a presentation by Kavya Prasad, Founder, Lumos Labs, where she explained how developers and web3 companies can harness the Lumos metaverse. Next in line were the workshops, the first was presented by Prashant Maurya, Co-Founder & CEO, Spheron, where he talked about accelerating dApp development and explained the quirks of building dApps with Spheron's Decentralised Hosting Solutions.

3 Stablecoins as means of payment

Stablecoin issuers are moving to new blockchain technologies to address the scalability and efficiency issues of the current most-used blockchains.[20]
"The majority of stablecoins are minted on blockchains using proof-of-work (PoW) consensus mechanisms that require network participants (the so-called miners) to compete with each other on the network to solve the complex puzzles involved in validating new transactions and adding new blocks. This not only makes PoW blockchains slower and less scalable, but also highly energy-consuming.[21] New blockchain networks following proof-of-stake (PoS) or proof-of-history (PoH) consensus mechanisms increase speed by requiring less network participants (or “validators”), reducing the computational power needed to verify each block transaction.[22] These networks, including Tron, Avalanche, Algorand and Solana, enable more transactions to be performed per second than on the Ethereum or bitcoin networks, are more scalable and have lower transaction costs (Chart 2, panel a). However, there may be a trade-off between scalability, security and decentralisation."[23]

Leaderless

Another way to organize state is to replicate it in its entirety to multiple identical instances that are controlled by different entities and organized to be leaderless (i.e., no instance is the leader). The crowd of instances collectively provides oversight over each update, ensuring that it is applied by all replicas in the same manner, progressing all of them from the same current state to the same next state. The process to achieve agreement on updates is called consensus, and numerous consensus algorithms are known (Cachin and Vucolic 2017). This is the leaderless archetype, exemplified by systems such as Bitcoin (Nakamoto 2009), Ethereum (Buterin 2014) and Algorand (Chen and Micali 2017).
