Verizon stock leads Dow losers after AT&T earnings
Mentioned: T TMUS VZ
Shares of Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) fell 3.7% Thursday, leading Dow Jones Industrial Average losers in the wake of peer AT&T Inc.'s (T) earnings report that showed slowing growth in postpaid phone subscribers and a miss on quarterly free-cash flow. Verizon is due to post its own first-quarter numbers before Tuesday's opening bell. AT&T's postpaid phone net additions of 424,000 indicates the "switcher pool could be shrinking," Citi Research analyst Michael Rollins wrote in a note to clients following the report. MoffettNathanson's Craig Moffett wrote that investors "won't know until other companies report the extent to which AT&T's subscriber deceleration reflects a loss of market share versus simply a slowing market." Shares of T-Mobile US Inc. (TMUS) slipped as well Thursday, dropping 1.9%, while AT&T's stock logged a 10.4% decline, making for its largest single-day percentage decline since Dec. 19, 2000.

Purchasing shares in quantities of even 100 lots like 200 or 400 instead of 87 or 223 ( sometimes known as odd lots.

$T AT&T Stock Loses $10 Billion in Value After Newsmax Drop
https://www.newsmax.com/us/directv-at-t-stock/2023/02/11/id/1108254/?dkt_nbr=6F1212r9kwed
AT&T did not remove anything...Direct TV did. AT&T does not run Direct TV.
Interesting buyers who flipped this for a few dollars is smart, maybe no flippers, recently
T holding steady at $19 in AH. AT&T expects to generate $16 Billion FCF (free cash flow) in 2023.
Current divvy yield is 5.77 %.
Over on SA, average price target is $21.00
$$$$$
They removed a program called Newsmax from their Direct TV service and lost 7 million subscribers in less then a week!
That’s gonna hurt the company a bit.
$T Has $160.6 Billion DEBT
Why billions in revenues and profits that I saw on this board, not sure when the period is for
Someone posted might be hard to collect money from customers
Exactly and thanks. That is why I was applauding the recent ATT move with Discovery et al. Better use of cash and what is so laughable about the Seeking Alpha art' is this:
https://tvanswerman.com/2022/05/11/directv-does-nfl-sunday-ticket-make-a-profit/
Google paying around 2 billion a year for the Sunday ticket rights, AT&T was paying around 1.5. Nice chunk of change they can put to better use
It's Seeking Alpha..and the only art' mentioning such a thing. All because of the NFL Ticket move to youtube. That's a pretty far stretch.
Not sure what there is to wonder about. If you're not in it for income..your target is a rough $30. This equity has a very predicable channel. You're now at the bottom of it.
Had a mini run and now wonder about the trend
Seeking Alpha article on T
https://seekingalpha.com/article/4564804-att-storm-approaching-take-shelter-now
On this website billions market capitalization and many billions profit , someone said hard to collect customers bill
One day someone sells and the next day it soars
As you can see...so called analysts are now recommending a buy(Morgan yesterday). They always wait in order to be prudent. It's so sloppy though.
To follow up on this...now...Verizon is down -33.21% over the last 52 weeks. AT&T is down -11.12% over the last 52 weeks.
The S&P is down -19.19% over the last 52 weeks
Dow Jones is down -12.88% over the last 52 weeks
Something to consider...and a big piss off to those ripping on this :)
This kills me...as in how did anyone not understand such after the latest spin off..:
"We are upgrading AT&T following more than 15 years of underperformance now that it has demonstrated an ability to focus on core business as opposed to acquisitions of loosely related companies at market high valuations,”
What kills me the most is how individuals just don't get it. It took that cat almost 11 Months to figure that out? I was mentioning the same exact thing back in January.
The sell off was ridiculous...but that always happens with "T"...look at the history.
Well, that's some decent advice, the risk/ reward is not on the longs side of the fence.
I took some $ off the table today. 85% out of stocks as of today
I am down ytd for the first time in October vs any year ~45 years or so.
I’m no longer much of a trader anymore but I have physical silver that can’t be taxed or found, water, food, energy, bullets, shelter, Love and Jesus.
I’m not sure how long I am on this confounded word.
Look up or as I like to say Watch!
Smart post. Thanks
Believe it or not....AT&T has performed better than Verizon over the past 52 weeks. That is including the "T" dividend cut and excluding the spinoff. Add in the spin off and you blew Verizon holders out of the water.
No one should really be buying currently unless you are doing minor adjustments with all your bags. I quit adjusting and banking months ago..and even though I came close to buying across the board with bank...just won't do it.
It isn't a long market so now is not the time to buy or sell. The time to sell was many months ago. It is a short play and will continue to be such for a little longer. That is across the board. I don't short...but that is the only chance anyone should be taking currently..and that can be dangerous if not done correctly.
So do minor adjustments if need be..but that should have been done a while ago.
