oh ok. nope no problems with Mkt Trader or others platforms/apps. Don't about Eturd pro, I rarely open it.
Security patches are important to me. Etrade telling me that somehing does or doesn't work...is, well a bunch of babble.
No, I know that isn't the latest Java - it is the latest version that I have installed. When I installed Java 6.0 I could not get Pro to work so I uninstalled it and put 5.0 back.
So you are saying that you have installed Java 6.0 without any problems? On Pro too?
Nope that's not the latesst Ms Pat. Java 5 (aka JSE 1.5.0xx is old, curent is JSE 1.6.0_02, which would be Java 6 (2) to you)

I have Java 5.0 with update 11 - that is the latest - not quite sure what you just stated - what version r u using?
I broke my rule Java 1.6+ because there is an important security patch in it. Not to jinx myself but, to date, no problems with it.
I haven't updated with the newest yet because from what I was told it is STILL not compatible with MT and Pro. I was also told that once they make those two platforms compatible Etrade would automatically install the new version as an updated.
Haven't yet tried to re-launch because I don't want to shut everything down at the moment.

I never realized how bad they actually were until I started using other brokers - especially for executions. Fills are much better with Ameritrade and Choice. Also, with AT if there is a problem you can request free trades for the inconvenience. With ET, they are never wrong, there is nothing wrong with their site, and if there is a problem it is because you are a penny trader and it is the fault of penny stocks not Etrade.
They have lost a chunk of my cash also.
Well, let them say that a thousand times and be in denial. They lost me as a main customer and I know of a few others who have left them too.
but Etrade have told me that there "are no outstanding issues wit Mkt Trader". Honest they really said that LOL.
rotf luckily, I hardly ever trade out of this account anymore - switched my trading to Ameritrade and Choicetrade. My positions are fine on their website - only on MT is there a problem.

I tried to relaunch them and I am still only loading up to H.
I have them all the way out to Z
Positions on MT this morning aren't fully loading - I am only getting up to the "H's".
I had forgoten about that. :) Dimwits need to fix it on their end. Not up to me to manage their screwed up processes.
lol, I should have told you to clear the java - whenever I have problems with Pro clearing the java helps.

Click Start > Control Panel.
Double-click the Java icon in the control panel.
The Java Control Panel appears.
The Temporary Files Settings dialog box appears.
Click Delete Files.
The Delete Temporary Files dialog box appears

There are three options on this window to clear the cache. Be sure all three are checked.
Delete Files
View Applications
View Applets
Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
Note: This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache.
Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window.
After completing this process you should restart your system. If you are still unable to load Market Trader you may wish to call in and speak with our technical support staff as they will be able to address your issue specifically. Yep, and they don't want to listen to their customers. I dropped them as my main brokerage for trading about a month after they implemented this new MT.

Yes, there was an update today. I have to laugh that they are now showing tv commercials that brag about the new MT - can you believe it?
I briefly saw a message window up "downloading an app." 20+ minutes download time, maybe that's what they are forcing this morning. Mine is hanging after the Inializing screen message.
It just crapped out on me and I had to relaunch it.

yes, I use alpha trade, I never liked the level 2 on etrade, everything moved too slow, by the time you switch from level 2 to your portfolio, and then try to put an order in, you're ready to put your fist through the screen
lol you are probably right about that Billy. Time and sales work when they feel like it and aren't always right. It is probably easier to place a trade on their website because they don't have those stupid default amounts already filled in. Also, that page clears after you make the trade - not on MT - the last trade amounts stay in the order window.
You can't get level II from their webpage, right? You must be using another level II service, right? I will be trying out different ones and decide which one to go with now that I am gradually moving my Etrade account somewhere else.
I dont have market trade anymore, didnt qualify with the 30 trades, but it seems that everything is much easier and faster doing it right from my portfolio page on the website

I called Ameritrade about the gap down on BBH yesterday before the open. I asked to be transferred to a more senior person and all the person did was say "hold on let me do some checking," put me on hold, then came back and said "I don't know." She did this 3 times. I had 6 questions. None of them answered.
The end of that call -- they told me to call Merrill Lynch, the sponsor of the HOLDRS.
What freaking morons.
3. Understand who you are speaking with. For most retail brokers, the first line of customer service is not a registered rep. It is an entry level position with moderate training at best. They report to a manager in the call center, who in turn reports to the assistant director or director of the call center, who in turn reports to the customer service director. Don't let tiered service titles like preferred or elite fool you--the reps may be slightly better but they are still more gatekeepers than problem-solvers.
