11,8,12....the clash
LOL...I think this can be handled by executive order---now we just gotta find an executive
I obviously vote to throw out the Clash, lol!
they sure make you pay attention---another case in point---the Duels lineups won't be set until qualifying---it used to be on Sunday---now it's late Wed nite with the 2 duels on Thursday---small window to get your picks in for the casual fan
I would concur…. Simply a real curveball… even to those interested. No doubt Hoagie would agree!
Good call Eli !
we might only have 5 players in this---my choice will be to throw out the Clash results and make the non-points the remaining 4 races...just a thought
Clash picks: 22-11-5
HEADS UP everyone…. The Clash schedule all changed due to LA weather blowing in! The race is TONIGHT!!
No sweat--a whole room full of EZ's---scary
TY !!! Sorry for bugging you… had to redo entire new registration. Hopefully set now! Party On Garth!!!
Eli — delete EZtutu and leave in EZover
Can you remove an ID in our league? Mistakenly set up new name: EZrocket
The 4 heats tonight qualify the first 20 drivers in the field and the starting lineup---there will be 5 drivers qualifying from each heat----soooooo, you might wanna wait until after the 4 heats to put your picks in
there is also a "last chance" heat before The Clash tomorrow night that adds 2 more drivers who will start at the back of the field..
I've never really understood this heat and clash thing. I'll take 45, 9 & 11 if that's even possible. LOL
Heat races tonight Saturday Feb 3 at 8:30PM ET on FS!
Last chance qualifier Sunday Feb 4th at 6:30PM ET on Fox
The Clash Sunday Feb 4th at 8:00PM ET on Fox

NASCAR changing Cup Series starting lineup procedure in 2024
Published Jan. 23, 2024 3:58 p.m. ET
CONCORD, N.C. — NASCAR will tweak how it sets its NASCAR Cup Series starting lineup after drivers complained that their group designation heavily impacted their spot on the starting grid.
NASCAR splits the drivers into two groups for qualifying based on a metric that includes previous race finish, point standings and fastest lap in the previous race. The fastest five cars in each group in single-car qualifying advanced to a final round to set the starting order for the first 10 spots, while the remainder of the field was set by its qualifying speed.
Depending on the track and conditions (weather, tire buildup that created grip, etc.), it wasn't rare to see one group have significantly higher times than the other. So a driver who finished sixth in the group and just missed a spot in the top-10 sometimes was starting outside the top-15.
To eliminate that, those who qualify in the first group (Group A) will start on the outside row for Rows 6-20 while those who qualify in the second group (Group B) will start on the inside row for Rows 6-20. The lineup for the first 10 spots will continue to be determined by the final round for qualifying. Drivers don't qualify in groups at superspeedways, so this won't be applicable for those events.
--NASCAR will no longer require teams to have windshield wipers or rain flaps for the short tracks with the only "wet weather" package items being grooved tires and a defogger. While it would race in a drizzle or light rain on road courses, NASCAR will not race in the rain at short tracks and will only race in damp conditions with no spray.
--Because a team's spot in the qualifying order typically is better if it doesn't change drivers from the previous race, teams had been waiting until after the qualifying orders had been posted on Wednesdays before making a change. NASCAR now has said if teams wait, the driver will go first in the group (typically the worst spot in the order).
--NASCAR will continue to use mufflers for the Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Chicago street race but will use a different design to decrease the amount of heat in the cars generated by the mufflers.
--At the Clash, NASCAR will hold a demonstration run of a battery-run electric vehicle it has developed. There are no current plans to have an electric series but NASCAR is developing technology looking at potential electric vehicles and/or hydrogen-fueled vehicles
NASCAR officials announced updates Wednesday to the NASCAR Cup Series rules package for short tracks and road courses in 2024, introducing aerodynamic changes designed to promote more competitive racing on those track types.
The changes — announced in a Wednesday afternoon technical bulletin to Cup Series teams — are set to go into effect for the circuit’s first points-paying short-track race of the season, scheduled March 10 at Phoenix Raceway. The 1-mile Arizona track was the site of a two-day test session last month, when six teams tried out the rules configuration’s components and provided positive feedback about the results.
RELATED: Photos from Phoenix test | 2024 Cup Series schedule
The key new component for short tracks and road courses is a simplified rear diffuser with fewer vertical strakes. The configuration will cut downforce up front by keeping the engine panel strake-free and retaining the splitter stuffers from last year’s package. To compensate for the reduced downforce, competition officials have introduced a slightly taller rear spoiler, up from two to three inches in height with the same length across the rear deck.
Dr. Eric Jacuzzi, NASCAR vice president of vehicle performance, thanked the six drivers who participated in the Dec. 5-6 test for helping competition officials to formulate the new package. Jacuzzi also said that the Phoenix test marked an improvement over another two-day session at Richmond Raceway last summer, when an experimental splitter produced too much of a reduction in downforce and stability.
That test, Jacuzzi says, helped competition officials learn those aerodynamic boundaries and find the right balance at Phoenix.
“One of the things going into the Phoenix test, we said, ‘let’s do a simplified diffuser,'” Jacuzzi told NASCAR.com. “‘Let’s see what it does when we put it in traffic,’ and what we actually found was it appeared to be an improvement. Then another interesting effect was that it did not lose rear downforce when it yawed, which is an issue we fight with the current car. So we felt that the car, the drivers would be able to slide around more on the short tracks and really have to be less careful about putting power down.
“We felt that would be a benefit, and that was the big takeaway from the driver feedback. At the test, they felt they could really tell that it was more forgiving. They felt they could slide the car, not crazy but certainly much more than they regularly could without having a performance penalty.”
Implementation of the new aerodynamic changes will arrive in the fourth race of the NASCAR Cup Series season after a pair of additional tests – one in the wind tunnel Feb. 13 to ensure aero parity across the three manufacturers and another Feb. 20 back at Phoenix to collect data with wheelforce-equipped vehicles. The initial availability of parts for the teams is expected early next month, and Jacuzzi also said that the new simplified diffuser would signal a cost-savings for the teams.
Another critical portion of last month’s test at Phoenix concerned the tires. Jacuzzi said Goodyear officials have worked closely with NASCAR’s competition counterparts to achieve the right combination of wear and performance for the race-ready rubber this season.
“Goodyear, I thought, did a really good job at the tests,” Jacuzzi said. “We had asked them — and the drivers did as well — to be extremely aggressive in bringing compounds and options, and they did do that. I think the one key thing that we’ve seen at Phoenix and at other locations is increasing the tread gauge, so actually making the tread of the tire a little thicker. … But adding that thickness, it seems to be every time we’ve done it has been very favorable from the driver standpoint, and Goodyear believes that added thickness will help contribute to tire fall-off.
“So that’s really a good learning out of there. I think we really proved out that we could continue to work on making the compounds we have softer, to where they have more grip initially, but then fall off more significantly. So I think that’s a big positive from the Goodyear side that came out of the test.”
The new aerodynamic configuration will not be used for the Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum in Los Angeles on Feb. 4 (8 p.m. ET, FOX, MRN, SiriusXM). Bristol Motor Speedway and Dover Motor Speedway – two fast, high-banked concrete tracks measuring 0.533-mile and 1 mile respectively – are not currently slated to use the new aero configuration, pending evaluation of how it performs at Phoenix, Richmond (0.75-mile) and Martinsville Speedway (0.526-mile) in the first quarter of the Cup Series season.
Jacuzzi said no changes to the gearbox to eliminate shifting with the short-track package are anticipated this season, though he added that “there’s work ongoing on what can be done there and what will be beneficial to the racing.”
It looks good on paper EZ but still, Any of these 4 teams could win. good games so far this year
Fingers crossed....toes too, Red !

Edward Glenn "Fireball" Roberts
January 20, 1929 - July 2, 1964
Fireball Roberts was born on this date 95 years ago. He earned his nickname "Fireball" because of his fastball while pitching for the Zellwood Mud Hens, an American Legion team in Florida. In 1945, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, but was soon discharged due to asthma.
He began racing on dirt tracks while attending the University of Florida. In 1947, he raced on the Daytona Beach and Road Course for the first time. He won a 150-mile race at Daytona Beach the following year. He made his NASCAR Grand National debut, also at Daytona Beach, on February 5, 1950. He finished 33rd after completing only 11 laps. He won his very first Grand National race at Hillsboro on August 13, 1950. As a rookie, he would finish 2nd to Bill Rexford for the championship that same year. It was the best finish of his career as he did not compete full-time.
Roberts would make 206 GN starts between 1950-1964. He had 33 wins, 122 Top Tens, and 32 poles. He also made 16 starts in the NASCAR Convertible Series between 1956-1959. In that series, he had 4 wins, 12 Top Tens, and 4 pole positions.
In 1957, he was named the Grand National Series' Most Popular Driver. He was a three-time Daytona 500 pole winner (1961, 1962, and 1963). Roberts won the 1962 Daytona 500. He was also a two-time winner of the Southern 500 (1958 and 1963). In 1962, Roberts and Bob Grossman finished 6th overall in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and 1st in their class.
Roberts' 206th and final GN start came in the World 600 at Charlotte on May 24, 1964. Early in the race, Ned Jarrett and Junior Johnson collided. Jarrett's car hit the inside wall. Roberts tried to avoid the wreckage but also slammed into the wall. Roberts wasn't injured by the crash itself. However, he was pinned in the car as the fuel tank exploded and engulfed the car in flames. Jarrett helped pull Roberts out, but he had suffered severe burns over 75% of his body. He was taken to nearby Memorial Hospital. For a time, it looked as though Roberts would recover. However, he took a turn for the worse and developed pneumonia. He died on July 2nd at the age of 35.
Roberts' death led the safety changes within NASCAR. It would be required that drivers wear flame ratardant suits. NASCAR also mandated the use of a fuel cell that would contain a car's gas and help prevent it from spreading wildly in an accident and, too often, igniting.
In 1998, Roberts was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers. He is a member of the following Halls of Fame:
Florida Sports Hall of Fame (1961)
International Motorsports Hall of Fame (1990)
Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (1995)
NASCAR Hall of Fame (2014)
That's about my wife and I 😊
From NewHampshire
He ordered one hamburger, one order of French fries and one drink. The old man unwrapped the plain hamburger and carefully cut it in half. He placed one half in front of his wife. He then carefully counted out the French fries, dividing them into two piles and neatly placed one pile in front of his wife.
He took a sip of the drink, his wife took a sip and then set the cup down between them. As he began to eat his few bites of hamburger, the people around them kept looking over and whispering. You could tell they were thinking, “That poor old couple all they can afford is one meal for the two of them.”
As the man began to eat his fries a young man came to the table. He politely offered to buy another meal for the old couple. The old man said they were just fine. They were used to sharing everything.
The surrounding people noticed the little old lady hadn’t eaten a bite. She sat there watching her husband eat and occasionally taking turns sipping the drink.
Again the young man came over and begged them to let him buy another meal for them. This time the old woman said “No, thank you, we are used to sharing everything.”
As the old man finished and was wiping his face neatly with the napkin, the young man again came over to the little old lady who had yet to eat a single bite of food and asked “What is it you are waiting for?”
She answered THE TEETH.
What's life without some boogity boogity?...LOL
Thank you for the scorekeeping and keeping the contest alive!
Thanks for the time and effort over the years---appreciated
