it was over $200 for well over a month or two, no excuses. plenty of time for people to sell and that is what it looks like the SMART MONEY did. they left this dog above $200
Yes, I sold at the exact peak... like all IHUBbers do. Adios
cool, hope you sold some over $200
I've owned 3M for many, many years, just like all my blue chips.
Amazing how IHUBers always know where stocks are_heading, where the high will be, where the low will be... yet year after year virtually all IHUbers lag simple index funds. Most lag them by miles!
My prediction for my long held 3M: it will fluctuate, increase its dividend occasionally and likely continue rising.
MMM heading back to $165-$170 imo
3M raises_2021_EPS_guidance_to $9.70-10.10—(from_prior-range_of_$9.20-$9.70):

*GAAP EPS $9.20-9.70; YoY sales growth 5-8%; organic YoY sales growth 3-6%.
3M tops $200 for first time since early 2019. Its all-time high was ~$259 in January 2018. Current yield is 2.95%
3M faces a second liability issue—military earplugs:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/3m-military-earplugs-blamed-for-hearing-loss-in-largest-set-of-u-s-suits-11617969601
Ditto. (MON was at one time my largest holding.)
I dodged that bullet at my long-held Monsanto. Now Bayer's problem. Their stock is down about 50% in the past few years.
https://www.barrons.com/articles/sizing-up-liability-for-pfas-chemicals-at-3m-and-others-51564653600
When 3M is able to quantify (i.e. contain) the PFAS liability, we could see a return to the old highs. This will take some time to play out, but I'm the stock for the long haul.
$191. 52-week high for MMM
3M touts “EGS” goals:

MMM is a great product design company.
True, but a 3.4% yield isn't bad.
SA opinions: 3M Div Increase Was Really Puny:
https://seekingalpha.com/news/3657574-3m-hikes-dividend-1-to-1_48-per-share
3M increases dividend for 63rd(!) consecutive year:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/3m-board-declares-increase-first-001500345.html
The new annualized payout is $5.92 (up from $5.88). At the current share price ($175.02), the new payout equates to a dividend yield of 3.4%.
Nice numbers announced. Should get sizable div increase in February.
3M 4Q20 results—2021 guidance:
https://investors.3m.com/news/news-details/2021/3M-Reports-Fourth-Quarter-and-Full-Year-2020-Results-Provides-Full-Year-2021-Guidance/default.aspx
2021 guidance:
• GAAP EPS = $9.20-9.70 (-1% to +5% vs 2020 actual GAAP EPS of $9.25; +5% to +11% vs 2020 actual non-GAAP EPS of $8.74); the 2021 range is unusually wide due to COVID-related uncertainty.
• 5-8% YoY revenue growth.
• 3-6% YoY organic revenue growth (excluding currency, acquisitions, and divestitures).
The stock is +1% in PM trading.

3M due for div increase around Feb 15.
3M had a better 2020 than some people think—(Barron’s):
https://www.barrons.com/articles/3m-had-a-solid-2020-but-the-stock-doesnt-show-it-51609234200
Reasonable right up, although I have one nitpick: 3M is not a true conglomerate; rather, it’s a materials science company with a wide array of applications. 3M is run as an integrated business, not as a holding company like (for instance) GE, DHR, and Berkshire Hathaway.
I tried that approach earlier today before my recent posts. In any event, it can take a while to become a mod, sometimes a day or two. Figured it was easier to ask you since you were here.
I like IHUB charts for visualizing a stock's history. Have got used to them over the years.
I picked up my 3M in 2009 but not the low. So it's one of my newer buys. LOLOL!
DD, as board mod, can you get a chart going for 3M?
If you take a somewhat longer view, MMM has been a strong performer. The share price is 4.5x the 2009 low, which is not bad for a sleep-easy stock.
MMM inching to 52 week high. It's been one of my few "dogs" for the past several years. But a reasonable div grower.
Expect a significant increase next payout (February).

Percentagewise, this is not a huge cut insofar as 3M has almost 100,000 worldwide employees.
3M is now issuing MONTHLY sales reports, which they never did pre-COVID:

Share buybacks will not resume until 2021 at the earliest, according to today's CC.
In 3Q20, 3M’s strongest growth among any of its product lines came from the Filtrete at-home furnace filters. As more people are working from home, they are upgrading their filters—and changing them more often.
(I use a 3M Filtrete filter with a MERV=12 rating, which is one of the highest—but not the highest—filtration rating available. The engineer who services my furnace and A/C says that a higher-rated filter would not allow the system to “breathe” sufficiently, leading to suboptimal performance and possible damage to the furnace itself.
As a result of using a high-quality filter and running the furnace fan 24/7, the house needs vacuuming must less frequently than most people probably think.)
