Good Morning, everyone...eom
it's an interesting concept, sorry about your rough times. thinga have a way of working out for the best. i'll pass on the moderator gig. stick with it and maybe you can come back to it.
Actually no, I have fallen on some rough times, and don't have the disposable income I enjoyed in the recent past. You are welcome to take over as moderator here if you'd like.
Regards,
m
are you still doing this? hows it going?
Thanks for the tip manysevens. Unfortunately, the nature of my job doesn't afford me much opportunity to keep up with the pinks as frequently as I'd like to.
pinks are ok imo ... you just need to diversify HUGE! Couple hundred bucks in each (as many as you see fit, or can afford) use GTC's for the selling part (cut's out the emotive element) Then keep a bunch of cash handy for the momo plays:)gl
Me: 70% diversified into possible bottoms/30% reserved for momo plays and averaging down ... Not for everybody!
raguse8706 - thanks for the note. i too am letting all my shares ride, but i'm not avg down currently.
I'll keep the pinks on the list of viable stocks to trade... I think I was just a little bitter and scared about the pinks after what has happened with Sulja.
Hope you're having a good weekend!
Regards,
Metro
metro I'm also coming from the SLJB board. I really like your idea and I would like to follow you when you get it going. The March start will probably work out better for me too after the Sulja disaster, I wish I only dropped 6000 but unfortunately I'm left trying to average down and hopefully not catching a falling knife. I don't know about you, but I am letting my Sulja holdings ride good or bad.
On the issue of allowing pink sheet stocks, I don't think they would be bad for the 200 trade deal. Getting in and taking a 3.4% gain would probably help you stay away from getting hit with the pump and dump as you would only be in for a very short time. I broke my rules with Sulja and didn't get out when I was up 130%.
Ouch ouch ouch.... I'm not quite sure I understand what happened to SLJB yet (can it be explained it a few lines ?) Seems to me things were going well until yesterday...
As you know, I lost a similar amount (6k$) on ATWT when I decided to cut my loss. Maybe it'll go back up, who knows, who knows.... that's the problem, nobody knows wtf is happening in the pink sheets world.
As someone said on hsm, it's crazy to "invest" in pinks, short term holding (a few hours) for small amount (<5k$) in stocks with volume is the only way to make money in a *consistant* manner... yet sometime you can make very big profits by camping..
I started to trade options which can get similar returns, with small amount at the moment. At least, it's very liquid.
I'm also looking at API trading (where you let the computer do all the trading for you). I'm a programmer so I'm currently doing a project on this, for the moment it only paper trades (but it's looking good!).
In any case, I'm personnaly hoping to get to 1M$ by the end of 2007... but I will make way more than 200 trades! (Some days I do >30 trades...)
I'd recommend taking a look at "The Misbehavior of Markets, A Fractal View of Risk, Ruin, and Reward"

Didn't turn out to be the "Cinderella Story" we all thought. Hope you didn't lose much in SLJB.
Regards,
Metro
Okay folks - got some aggravating news. I fell victim to the scam of SLJB and the lies of the CEO. I used the $8000 from my savings (referenced in the Ibox) to put into SLJB...
That quickly turned to $2000.
So, I may have to delay this endeavor until I can rebuild my capital. I will try my hardest to get to January with another $8000 through other means as well, but don't be surprised if I must start this up in March.
Other folks on the board are more than welcome to begin their own 200 trades to $1 million and post their conquests here.
Also, in light of this situation, I may put a rule in that says no pink sheet stocks allowed. I will ponder this.
Regards,
Metro
happydog - Thanks for the tip. Ironically enough, I am already in SLJB.
You are right - the AFs should do wonders for the stock price. Estimates around $1-$2/share are likely once the numbers are submitted to the SEC and PRd concurrently. Subsequent uplist to the OTCBB or even Nasdaq should attract some institutional buying as well.
Looking for big things to happen this week in SLJB land.
Thanks again,
Metro
Have you looked at SLJB? You may want to keep an eye on this one. I am not recommending it for you, but I have big bucks in this one. It is a pinkie, right now around .12. We have been waiting for AFs which are definitely guaranteed on or before Nov. 15. Of course we have bashers, but this seems to have great potential.
Also I want to add that late spring and summer are really not good times to be in the market, at least for me. I have read others who only trade during certain times like from Nov. to May. So watch out for that too. Be careful during the bad months.
Good luck and happy trading.
I look forward to participating!
I'm in for $5000.00
Thanks
Nice!
Only tip I can think of is... if you need something very volatile, yet very liquid, check the options world... but make sure to paper trade it first, at it is more complex than pennystocks..

Hey folks - been out for 3 days, two for bachelor party, and one for recovery and work (notice recovery and work happened in the same day)...
Anyways, I am noting and considering some of the very insightful & thoughtful comments I have received on this idea from some very helpful members on IHub. I will try to come out with a revision of the rules by end of next week to better define how this will work, and if my timeline is realistic.
Overall, it is my believe that the market has the impetus to go up, so it is only a matter of time for most investments to realize a sustainable gain. The stock market survived a great depression, the 70s, and the tech bubble. Whatever the case may be, so long as the stock market still has the natural upward pressure we have enjoyed since its inception, this plan should, in theory, ultimately work.
Now after saying all that, maybe my 4 year plan is too aggressive, I dunno. Maybe I need to extend it to 5, 6, or 10 years. Whatever the case, I feel as if I am embarking on a pretty cool experience.
Thanks again for everyone's support!
Metro
ps
remember, i am not doing this with my "nest egg." This is purely an experiment and i am only investing a small sum of money...
Metro, Really looks feesible...
and easy to understand...
Compound away baby!!!
Nice Job Metro...

Nice board you got here metropick! I guess it's more realist to do 200 trades to 1 mil than 1 big super-mega-run to 1mil =)
I think I should also make myself a plan... I also like manyseven's idea... though I'm more a single stock kinda guy...
Anyway..
Still playing ATWT ? looking great for a breakout in November...
metropick ... I don't think this is a stupid idea at all, very similar to my own initial trading plan.
Mine went like this ... (don't laugh k?)
1. Over the weekend run scans, investigate movers, etc ... find a handful of goodies ... preferably breakouts.
2. On Monday observe which ones are showing strength, and diversify entire portfolio into 5 equally sized positions (hopefully getting in on dip soon after market open)
3. Set 8% stop loss for each. (so you're never risking more than 2% of the entire portfolio in any one stock)
4. Sell them all on Friday- no if's and's or but's.
The goal is to earn 2% a week. Compound that and you'll double your money every nine months or so.
10k doubled 7 times equals about 1.2 mil (minus commissions and taxes)
That was my five year plan to turn 10k into 1mil. I paper traded this plan for about three months and it worked flawlessly with stocks in the $10 to $20 range, any cheaper and you'll get stopped out too often)
But then I fell in love with pennies ... no stops allowed ... bummer.
Good Luck!! Study Breakout Patterns!! Be Consistent!! Get Rich!! Share The Wealth!! Be Happy!! Weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
Paul - Great post! Thanks for the advice! One of the reasons I will not start this endeavor until January 2007 is because of posts like yours. Yours is a well thought out strategy.
Interesting--be firm on stop-losses rather than the 3.1% gain limit... hmmmmmm. I will certainly consider it!
I am taking this all in. The IBox rules are definitely flexible until the first day of trading in January (exact date TBD).
Thanks again for the pointers!!

metro
Just a friendly suggestion? regarding stops? I would highly recommend focusing more on a solid, no exceptions rule to handle losing positions rather then selling the winners at a pre-set percentage gain.
The most difficult part of succeeding at trading/investing IMO is learning to let the winners run.. When you finally succeed at setting a solid stop point for losers (and sticking to it regardless of if its a trendless market where your loses will add up quickly or an easy to follow trend such as what we have had over the last several weeks) the next even more difficult part of the plan would be deciding which winning positions should be allowed to 'run' and this is what seperates successfull traders from failures...
All just my opinion but I like your idea, and just felt that you might want to consider reversing that rule to cut the winners and just cut the losers and let the winners run. I have spent over 10 years trying to beat this market and its a never ending challenge but I pretty much ditched all my rules and sticky pad notes over the years and replaced it with this:
1) Solid stop point on a losing trade.. Absolutely no exceptions, and no averaging down or lowering the stop unless the position was allocated for such a strategy and therefore Ill always be guaranteed the only thing you can be guaranteed and that is how much you are allowed to lose on a trade.
2) Let the winners run.. without this youll never get out of break even, and more certainly your stop outs will probably make you negative on the year because even winning at 60-70% of your trades is extremely difficult (This is pretty much a fact).
3) Consistency.. never take a different path.. in the end- after all the greed and fear and demons beat us up every day? This whole 'game' is nothing more then odds/probabilities and a buncha numbers on a spread sheet.. The absolute only way it will work is if you consistently follow a plan and allow it to work without inerjecting personal feelings.. The market doesnt care about us, we are just along for the ride.. its all about numbers..
Anyhow- good luck! and just consider my points.. we all have to make our own plan but I just felt I would share what I feel is a winning strategy..
Ya know - I may actually assign a stop loss per each buy in. That is, when I buy into a stock, I must at that time assign a stop-loss limit. I will consider this over the weekend and see what I come up with.
Thanks again for the advice FA!
Regards,
Metro
FA - I am willing to take advice on a set stop-loss. While I think it might be a good thing, I think it may really depend on the type and feel of stock I would be in at the time. I will mull the idea of a set stop-loss. Thanks for the advice!
I've read about doing this elsewhere. Excited to see if someone can do it. Come January, I might just try it as well.
GLTY
This is entirely possible. I love it, fwiw. As long as he can pick the gainers, catch a momo, 3.1% is NOTHING. He needs to put his GTC in as soon as the order fills.
Way to go.
hye metropick, this is so cool. Im in with a 1000 dollars. I think it will be lots of fun. january 2007
F.A......interesting board and post, have you factored a major runner!!! That could change things very quickly. I was perusing, always looking to learn more. Thanks for reading...
Boardmarked!
not to worry. if i play it will be this much $xxx.00
give the guy his dream back...if you dont like the rules then dont play and move along.
That's awesome! Remember though, probably best not to put all your eggs in one basket. I have 3 portfolios -- I am still maintaining my main portfolio to fund my retirement and my future kids' college. My secondary portfolio I use to trade speculative stocks (pinks, OTCBB, microcaps, etc)... Then my third portfolio will become this one.
Remember, it's not about making 200 successful trades in a row, it about staying with the budget schedule!
Your 200 trades to $1,000,000 is great and all, but you've failed to calculate any losing trades, while you feel your winning trade formula will be bullet-proof. I think you need to access a set % stop-loss if you are going to have a set % gain. You must be unbiased to win at this game, you can have dreams, but you must remain grounded and realistic. You don't control the profits that are given to you, Mr. Market does, and he can easily take them away just as quick as you captured them.
Good luck.
i might just go along for the ride, its only money. lol
CHRTCRZY - Thanks! em
The stop loss will be whatever I feel like it should be per stock. See rule 1)c). And making 200 winning trades in a row isn't the key. The key will be keeping up with the gains I laid out in the budget I created per trade.
"1)c)I will sell a stock at anytime I feel uncomfortable with the investment. In other words, there will be no universal pre-set stop limits."
I know this is a rediculous idea, that's one of the reasons it is so intriguing. Worse case, it doesn't work, I take a few losses, and I use my main portfolio as my retirement plan.
c. I will sell a stock at anytime I feel uncomfortable with the investment. In other words, there will be no universal pre-set stop limits.
Ok, where's your stop-loss at on this? And just how do you think you can make 200 winning trades in a row, that is rediculous...

Thermite - Thanks for the note! The theory is sound. I think the key is not to be greedy. Don't go for the big win, just get your 3.1% and get out... it will get very interesting as I start trading amounts in the hundreds of thousands of dollars... if it ever gets to that point. LOL
Hello and welcome!
For a while now, I have been mulling over starting a 200 Trades to $1,000,000 board. I encourage everyone here to take a look at this theory.
If no one posts here, que sera. As long as I can post here and keep myself honest, I will be a-okay.
If anyone would like to join me in my endeavor, please let me know! I intend on beginning my journey to $1,000,000 starting January 2007.
