Most of the time it's readily apparent the intent of the poster quoting another member is and people's judgements are mostly on a post by post basis and whether the post gets any reaction from the readership.

Quoting is done every day, all day and most everyone knows the reasons for quoting. Any type of quoting isn't a big deal, except in the eye of the member who believes there's more to the quote.

I've never seen hard and set rules of quoting.
