Despite the problems Bull has had...I stand behind American Standard....but...the most important thing is the installer...with a good installer even a Goodman is a good unit...if you are going from a R22 system (It will tell you on the tag) to an R410A system...make sure they flush the refrigerant lines before evacuation and start up...

Carrier has gotten better with their coil leaks but I'm still not a fan of theirs...

Ahhh just read again...is this a window unit??...if so there isn't an American Standard...haven't had to look at those...I know Frederich used to have a great unit.

Back in the day I had a carrier system and it was top notch. I don't have any recent experience, so I couldn't say today. This part of the country runs A/C an average of 2600 hours a year, so it is the acid test for A/C systems.

Really, I'd trust Hoagie's opinion more than mine, he has a great deal of experience. I may have just got the unlucky lemon, though the A/C Company I use is a big one, and they stopped recommending Trane. It used to be their primary brand. (If you read this Hoagie, I'm talking about Coastal Cooling)
