So your saying every job that was started before 12/31/2016 was finished by 12/31/2016, and that there was no carry over from quarter 4 to quarter 1.

Backlog is a running total of work that is contracted but not yet completed - of course it carries forward by definition . . .

Those are just the high-level numbers that the company has provided and the equation was intended to demonstrate how backlog, revenue, and new sales are related - that's all. If you have additional questions then perhaps you can contact Investor Relations.
