Ok, so I've read the supremacy clause and article vi and it seems to me that put in it's proper context that is, it only applies if the Government is exercising their constitutionally authorized powers or operating within the constitution. They have to be consistent with the constitution, they can't just make up stuff outside of the constitution and declare we are the supreme law. If that were the case they could do whatever, whenever they wanted and we would have no need for the rest of the constitution.
