Entrepreneur puts waste oil to use with patented generator Terry Bassett shows the prototype for his Phoenix 10 generator. Patrick O'Grady Terry Bassett has a plan to get rid of all the oil drained from the engines of the world: Burn it to create power. Bassett, who heads the Phoenix business unit of Ameresco Solar in Tempe, had been tinkering for more than two decades with the idea of burning waste oil from the crankcases of cars and trucks to generate electricity. The results of Bassett’s idea and the eventual patents were announced last month: In a partnership with Phoenix Power Group and Cyclone Power Technologies, a 10-kilowatt generator could begin production by this summer. The generator will provide enough energy to meet most of the power needs of a small business, allowing it to cut its energy costs. http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/print-edition/2011/01/07/entrepreneur-puts-waste-oil-to-use.html They laughed at Edison too until he electrocuted an elephant. Now they hate Edison some real bad. Best, Terry
