I'd really love a more substantive statement that that. It says their distributors control over 70% yadda, yadda, yadda. I could be the tiniest company around but have distributors that carry my product along with those of really large companies. It would be utterly true to say my distributors indeed have that kind of market share but a bit of misdirection to imply that I was the supplier for that share.

A much more useful statement would be to describe how many gallons of oil they sell each year, to how many customers and at what price. That would be unambiguous.

Likewise it says that "more than 150,000 such heat-producing units beings sold over the last several decades." How many decades? Who made them? Who sold them? How many are legal to operate today? How many are still in existence? I can remember ads for cheap kits in the back of Mechanics Illustrated for do it yourself motor oil burners back in the 70s and I'd bet most of those have been scrap metal since the 80s, is this part of the market?

An interesting point would be to ask what OSU is using to power their dyno test units. Is Phoenix sending a tanker truck or two of used motor oil to do all the testing? Hundreds of hours of testing really burn up fuel. If they aren't using the motor oil, why not? Wouldn't that be a legitimate test of feasibility under real world conditions?

Tom
