Currently in the states of Colorado and Washington the possession of marijuana is legal for both medical and non-medical use. 18 other states along with Washington, D.C. have legalized marijuana for medical use only including: Alaska, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
There are a number of other states that are considering legalization in the next election cycle and for the first time a majority of Americans support legalization.
