Local company helped recipient of first legal marijuana license

SPOKANE, Wash-- A local company helped lay down the groundwork for the man expected to receive Washington’s first marijuana license. A media source reported Tuesday that Sean Green, of Spokane, would be issued a license Wednesday that would allow him to grow 21,000 square feet of cannabis. WATCH: State’s first legal marijuana license to go to Spokane grower The Indie Growers Operations is the company that helped Green pass the state inspection. Operations director John Moreno said the company helps people navigate through the bureaucracy and red tape in the marijuana business. “I gladly represent of my union members who was obviously the first one to get a license in the state,” said Moreno. “We had an agreement with the union to come in and help him set up, help establish it, subcontracting on the build-outs, helped set up the security camera, we helped him rollout to become state compliant and at that point he takes the transfer and is able to handle it himself.” Green has run medical marijuana dispensaries in Shoreline and Spokane. Indie Growers Union helped hundreds of other clients like him get prepared to apply for licenses. “We provide the infrastructure from every level.” Moreno said. “Grow operations, settling, to what a seed is to what medical applications are… so really every aspect of it.” Moreno and his CFO, Arnie DeWitt, said they expected the first retail store to open in Washington sometime near late Summer.
