Todd Hazelwood Ellis, a 35-year resident of California and a 15-year resident of Morongo Valley, died Nov. 18, 2013, after battling heart attack, stroke and metastatic cancer. He was 67 years old. Born Oct. 21, 1946, he was a native of Jackson, Mich. Mr. Ellis served in the U.S. Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He also served in the Navy Reserve. He worked for 25 years as a maintenance engineer at various hotels, and for seven years was self-employed as the owner of Todd’s Repair Service. He attended Desert Chapel for 23 years; when he moved to Morongo Valley, he attended Church of the Lighted Cross. Mr. Ellis loved researching organic foods and medicines and being a handyman. He left behind his wife, Jan Ellis, his two children, son Todd Ellis and daughter Ashley Prescott, his granddaughter, Haven Prescott, his nephew, Christofer Ellis, and his cousin, Jody Cosson, as well as others. Services will be held in four to six weeks. Mr. Ellis has been cremated and organs are being donated to help others.
