Alterra made a tragic error trying to take advantage of the financial meltdown in Iceland. Horrendous mismanagement elsewhere put geothermal in a bad light.
Today HTM leaped forward with earnings due. HTM was once the weak man of the junior geothermals but steady management overcame some financial missteps and wild overhyping. Things are looking up for the one-time weakling.
I am less than enchanted by Alterra's move into the unreliables of wind and sun but I do like run-of-river. The problems in Iceland have turned around and Alterra is moving to exploit its extensive undeveloped acreage.
I think Alterra is greatly undervalued and will be making its move shortly.
