APPLICATIONS ENGINEER




Position Summary: Successfully execute application engineering work in the area of In-Process Quality Assurance™ (IPQA®) for advanced manufacturing and 3D metal printing. The responsible candidate will assist customers engineering staff with the successful implementation of B6 Sigma's PrintRite3D® product line for real-time, nondestructive inspection for advanced manufacturing and 3D metal printing.



Essential Functions:

Responsible for conducting on-site IPQA® Engineering Needs Assessments with customers engineering staff to ensure successful implementation of B6 Sigma's PrintRite3D® product line.

Responsible for traveling to and working on-site, and directly with customer's research and development engineers and manufacturing engineers ensuring the successful implementation of B6 Sigma's PrintRite3D® product line.

Responsible for monitoring the on-going customer assessment efforts for the successful deployment of PrintRite3D ® product line into a production environment.

– Responsible for reporting the results of PrintRite3D ® deployment efforts at customer sites to the PrintRite3D Product Manager.

Responsible for ensuring the successful integration, operation and calibration of the PrintRite3D ® product into the customer's quality assurance system.

– Recommend, develop and implement operational and efficiency improvements for the PrintRite3D ® modules.

– Maintain and make improvement recommendations to product engineers for customer installed PrintRite3D® systems.

Other Responsibilities:

– Assist customer manufacturing engineers with establishing and integrating procedures and user documentation for installed PrintRite3D ® systems.

– Assist customers with verification and validation of installed PrintRite3D® systems to ensure the as-built part quality and geometry for 3D metal parts.

– Prepare training materials and provide on-site training for the PrintRite3D® product line.

– May be assigned to perform other duties relating to this job description.



Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

– Qualified candidates will have a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or an allied field, or equivalent work related experience.

– Demonstrated hands-on experience with real-time, advanced inspection technologies for next-generation manufacturing including 3D metal printing.

– Knowledge of advanced manufacturing quality assurance inspection systems and methodologies is required.

– 5-10 years of work-related experience.



Desirable Qualifications:

Knowledge of real-time, nondestructive inspection technologies and principles; experience in the quality control and quality assurance procedures and practices as applied to aerospace components such as those manufactured for performance-critical hardware. Experiential knowledge of "objective evidence of compliance" demonstrations necessary to meet regulatory agency requirements for manufacturing safety- and performance-critical components.

SR. MECHANICAL ENGINEER



Position Summary:

Successfully execute customer-sponsored engineering projects in the area of In-Process Quality Assurance™ for advanced manufacturing and 3D metal printing. The responsible candidate will also conduct internal research and development (IRAD) for B6 Sigma's PrintRite3D® product line specifically the PrintRite3D® DEFORM™ module.



Essential Functions:

Responsible for performing customer-sponsored engineering project work in the area of real-time, nondestructive inspection for advanced manufacturing and 3D metal printing.

Responsible for performing IRAD work related to real-time, 3D inspection for the PrintRite3D ® DEFORM™ module for 3D metal printing.

Responsible for ensuring PrintRite3D ® DEFORM™ module is fully integrated, operating and calibrated with the PrintRite3D ® INSPECT™ and SENORPAK™ Modules and related analysis software.

– Recommend, develop and implement operational and efficiency improvements for the PrintRite3D ® DEFORM™ and related modules.

Maintain and improve current PrintRite3D ® DEFORM™ modules deployed in the field at customer sites.

Other Responsibilities:

– Establish and integrate procedures and user documentation for the PrintRite3D ® DEFORM™ module and make recommendations for improvements.

– Travel to subcontractor sites as required to assist with R&D work associated with the development of the PrintRite3D ® product line and specifically the DEFORM™ module.

– Travel as required to client sites to assist with test & evaluation of PrintRite3D ® product line and specifically the DEFORM™ module.

PRODUCT MANAGER



Position Summary: Successfully execute customer-sponsored engineering projects in the area of In-Process Quality Assurance™ (IPQA®) for advanced manufacturing and 3D metal printing. The responsible candidate will also conduct internal research and development (IRAD) for B6 Sigma's PrintRite3D® product portfolio.



Essential Functions:
•Responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary staff of engineers developing and launching new products for B6 Sigma's PrintRite3D® product line.
•Lead design, development, and project execution of innovative new product concepts for B6 Sigma's PrintRite3D® product portfolio leading to successful new product launches.
•Standardize and implement a stage gate process for new product development.
•Oversee engineering staff in the development and use of new lab testing equipment, data acquisition systems, and testing procedures to improve product testing.
•Introduce and lead Design for Six Sigma principles during product design to reduce risk.
•Lead hands-on field research and testing of product concepts with sales personnel and customers. Plan and perform observational field research and focus group studies that identify customer needs and establish guidelines for product design specifications.
•Design and execute product comparison studies and use data in the development of marketing materials to demonstrate B6 Sigma's superior product performance relative to competition.
•Pioneer the development of rapid qualification methodology for additive metal manufacturing / 3D metal printing to enable end users to achieve a paradigm shift in manufacturing certification.
•Explore design and manufacturability options to achieve desired cost base and performance in future product designs.
•Engage outside technology centers to augment engineering capabilities and create synergy among B6 Sigma's engineering teams.
•Introduce market research strategies to product line management to improve customer needs assessments.
•Direct failure investigations on products, develop rigorous Design Validation Test (DVT) protocols, lead Design of Experiment (DOE) projects, design & performed life cycle tests, and plan/execute product design improvements.



Other Responsibilities:

– Develop new product scope, schedule and budget to meet required IRAD product development.

– Present and work with executive management team to ensure IRAD objects are successfully met.

– Oversee IPQA engineering procedures and user documentation for the PrintRite3D® and make recommendations for improvements.

– Assist application engineers with verification and validation testing requirements for the PrintRite3D ™ products for 3D metal parts.

Travel to client sites to meet with application engineers in support of the PrintRite3D® product line.

LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER



Position Summary: Develop and maintain software for B6 Sigma's existing products as well as new products in a team-oriented environment.



Essential Functions
Develop and maintain software in Ni LabView, MatLab, C++ and Java for B6 Sigma's PrintRite3D and QualitySentinel product lines.
•Develop new products in accordance with B6 Sigma's software development methodology.
•Convert high-level descriptions of conceptual processing requirements into bug-free, working code.
•Extensively test software using debuggers, emulators and simulators.
•Perform software releases and software quality assurance activities.
Perform maintenance activities for products already in production.



Other Responsibilities
•Review product information including manuals and brochures for technical accuracy
•Participate in product definition activities including feature analysis and system design and trade-off analysis
Periodic travel to customer sites for product trouble-shooting and development
•Perform other duties as necessary


?Desired Skills and Experience


Education, Experience, and Skills Required
•Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or above/equivalent education or experience
•Experience and/or training in NI LabView, MatLab, and high-level languages such as C++ and Java for either embedded or desktop environments
•Experience in Visual C++ and NetBeans for software development
•Excellent written and oral communications skills



Desirable Qualifications
•Experience in MatLab, R, Octave and NI Labview
•Knowledge of device drivers
•Experience in Linux OS configuration and software development
•Experience in data acquisition, embedded devices, and real-time control
•Knowledge of real-time concepts and applications
•Experience with fieldbus protocols and their implementation
•Strong scientific background especially statistics and signal processing
