Temple, Ga. -- A father and two children were found dead at a home about 3 p.m. Thursday and police believe the father, 41-years old, shot and killed his 13-year-old son and his 11-year-old daughter before using the gun to kill himself. He was separated from his wife, the children’s mother. She was out of state at the time of the shooting.

Boston Mass. -- A 14-year-old boy was playing with a handgun at their home about 11:30 a.m. Friday when he accidentally shot and killed his 9-year-old brother. The older boy thought the handgun was unloaded because he had removed the magazine. Note to gun owners: Removing the magazine from a gun does not necessarily remove the bullet that is in the chamber. I’ve chronicled a number of people getting shot by this phantom bullet.

Chicago, Ill. -- A 17-year-old high school student was shot in the head and killed while shoveling snow to earn money about 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

Orange County, Fla. -- A 34-year-old sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed early this morning while responding to reports of car break-ins in a neighborhood.

Eutawville, S.C. -- A 59-year-old grandfather asked his 14-year-old grandson to retrieve a gun about 2 p.m. Saturday and, when the boy retrieved the weapon, it accidentally discharged sending a bullet ricocheting through the house that struck and killed the grandfather.

Augusta, Kan. -- A 45-year-old man shot and killed his 31-year-old wife before using the gun to kill himself about 9:40 p.m. Thursday. A boy -- the woman’s son and the man’s stepson, -- called 911 and said he locked himself in a bedroom and that he heard his mother scream and that shots had been fired. A dispatcher talked the boy into crawling out a bedroom window to safety. The boy is now with his biological father.

Plattsburgh, N.Y. -- Police discovered on Monday morning that a 63-year-old man shot his 61-year-old wife multiple times at their home, killing her, before driving away and using the gun to kill himself outside his pick-up truck.

Helendale, Calif. -- An 82-year-old woman and a 76-year-old man were found fatally shot inside a home about 8:30 p.m. Sunday and police suspect it was a murder-suicide.

Fort Collins, Colo. -- Police called to a home about 6 p.m. Friday found that a 34-year-old man had shot and killed his 38-year-old fiancée before using the gun to kill himself.

Pittsburgh, Penn. -- Two sisters, ages 44 and 38, were found fatally shot in the basement of their home Friday afternoon and police are calling it a homicide. The younger woman’s car was found a mile from their house.

Prewitt, N.M. -- A man and woman were found shot to death in a pickup truck around 3 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses said the pair were arguing in the truck when a shot rang out. The man then drove to a residence 10 miles away where the truck was found with both bodies inside, along with a gun.

Watsonville, Calif. -- A 19-year-old man died from a single gunshot wound to his upper torso after he was dropped of at a hospital about 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

Huntsville, Ala. -- When a father was trying to unload his handgun Friday evening, the weapon accidentally discharged and the bullet struck his 6-year-old son in the collar bone. No one else was hit by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not the father would be charged. The boy’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Columbus, Ohio -- Five people, including a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, were together at a house Sunday night when the girl pulled a handgun and shot the boy in the neck. She was arrested and charged with felonious assault. The boy was listed in serious condition.

Goshen, Ind. -- A 23-year-old man was accidentally shot in the leg about 6 a.m. Sunday. No one else was hit by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not anyone would be charged. His injuries were reported as non life-threatening.

San Francisco, Calif. -- An allegedly intoxicated 24-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the leg inside his home about 2:20 a.m. Friday. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not he would be charged. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Riviera Beach, Fla. -- A man accidentally shot himself about 9 p.m. Sunday. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not he would be charged. His injuries were described as critical.

Albuquerque, N.M. -- A man walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound to his head about 1:40 a.m. Monday and told police he was shot while at a nearby nightclub. He was listed in stable condition and expected to survive.

Lawrenceville, Ga. -- Two people were shot inside a national chain grocery store Monday afternoon. Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Police said there might have been an altercation before the shooting.

Madison, Tenn. -- A man was shot and killed and another was shot and wounded about 9 p.m. Monday. No word on the condition of the wounded man.

Arlington, Va. -- A man was found at an abandoned apartment complex with a shotgun wound to his leg early Monday morning. Police think he was shot at another location and then dumped at the apartment complex. He was expected to survive.

Grand Rapids, Mich. -- A woman pulled a gun and fired a shot into the drive-thru window of a fast-food restaurant about 3 a.m. Wednesday because employees of the restaurant got her order wrong for a second time. No one was struck by the bullet. The woman was in custody.

Mount Olive Township, N.J. -- An off-duty federal law enforcement officer was cleaning his gun in his apartment on Wednesday when the weapon accidentally discharged. No one was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not he would be charged.

Puyallup, Wash. -- A 13-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the chest and killed about 3 p.m. yesterday when he and three other boys were handling a shotgun while hanging out at a home and one of the other boys unintentionally fired the gun. The boy who shot the gun will be booked on suspicion of first-degree manslaughter.

Barrow, Alaska -- A 13-year-old boy was accidentally shot and killed by another boy about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Defiance County, Ohio -- Four people were found dead by a family member about 8:30 p.m. yesterday and police believe a 68-year-old man shot and killed his 61-year-old wife, his 42-year-old daughter, and 15-year-old granddaughter before using the gun to kill himself.

Plains, Ga. -- Two people were found fatally shot at a home and police believe a 68-year old man shot and killed his 66-year old wife before using the gun to kill himself Tuesday morning.

Philadelphia, Penn. -- About 9 p.m. yesterday, when police responding to a call heard gunshots as they arrived at a home, they forced their way in and found a 37-year-old man on the first floor with three gunshot wounds and a 48-year-old man on the second floor with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The wounded man was in critical condition.

Waterford Township, Mich. -- A 28-year-old woman used a rented gun to commit suicide by shooting herself in the head at a gun range about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Anchorage, Alaska -- About 3:50 a.m. Saturday, after a woman called police to say her 35-year-old fiancé had come to her home and threatened her with a gun, the man later used the weapon to kill himself after leading police on a car chase and then crashing his vehicle.

Springfield, Mo. -- A man was found dead Tuesday from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. He leaves behind a wife and children.
Los Angeles, Calif. -- A man in his 30s was found fatally shot and lying on a sidewalk about 2 a.m. today.

Los Angeles, Calif. -- One man was shot and killed and another man was shot and wounded outside a church Wednesday night.

Milwaukee, Wis. -- A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in a home by a 21-year-old man about 10 p.m. Wednesday. The shooter was arrested.

Patterson Springs, N.C. -- A 17-month-old girl was accidentally shot by her 3-year-old brother after he climbed a dresser in their home and discovered their father’s gun Thursday morning. No word yet on whether or not charges would be filed. The girl was expected to recover.

Philadelphia, Penn. -- One person was shot when an off-duty police officer’s gun accidentally discharged inside a home around noon on Monday. No word on whether or not charges would be filed. The victim reportedly had non life-threatening injuries.

Vancouver, Wash. -- A 46-year-old woman shot a 45-year-old employee of the Veterans Administration in the hip while at a hospital about 4 p.m. Tuesday. The victim’s injuries were describes as non life-threatening.

Kansas City, Kan. -- When a homeowner inside his home looked out and saw two men trying to steal his car he had left warming up in his driveway, he confronted the men with his gun and, after words were exchanged, he was shot twice as they exchanged gunfire about 7:30 a.m. yesterday. Police were able to track down and arrest the assailants at an apartment just a block away. The victim’s injuries were non life-threatening.

Flint, Mich. -- A man accidentally shot himself in the leg while playing with his handgun as he waited for friends in a car outside a party store about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not he was arrested. No word on his condition.

Oregon City, Ore. -- A 71-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the arm while in his home when he dropped a handgun he was trying to unjam and the weapon discharged when it struck the floor. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not he was arrested. No word on his condition.

Jacksonville, Fla. -- A man showed up at a hospital about 9:45 p.m. yesterday with a gunshot to his midsection. His injuries were described as non life-threatening.

Tampa, Fla. -- A 27-year-old man was shot in front of a tire business by a 22-year-old man about 4:30 p.m. yesterday. The two had argued with each other earlier in the day. The victim was expected to survive.

West Palm Beach, Fla. -- A 47-year-old woman burst into her neighbor’s house about 11 p.m. Monday and waved a handgun at everyone inside because she felt they were playing music too loud. She was arrested.

Seattle, Wash. -- About 10:50 a.m. last Tuesday, when the female manager of a store in a shopping mall asked a female customer “What brings you in today?” the customer opened her purse and pointed to a handgun inside and said “You see this? This means to leave me alone.” The customer then browsed the store, completing a full loop, before leaving.

Anchorage, Alaska -- About 6 a.m. last Thursday, when a pizza delivery driver arrived at a home with pizza, a 23-year-old man at the home threatened the driver with a gun because he felt it took too long for the pizza to arrive. The man was later arrested.

Norfolk, Mass. -- A 46-year-old middle-school cafeteria worker was arrested Friday afternoon after she allegedly threatened a co-worker with a gun at the school.

Robbins, Ill. -- A 43-year-old man shot and killed his 42-year-old wife, his 17-year-old son, and his 15-year-old daughter at a home about 10:40 p.m. Sunday. The man’s 14-year-old step-son managed to escape with his 5-year-old nephew. When police arrived, the shooter was dead and it was reported he might have suffered a heart attack.

Houston, Tex. -- Four members of a family were found fatally shot on Thursday -- a 50-year-old man, his 49-year-old wife, and the couple’s two children, ages 9 and 7 -- and police are calling the shootings homicides.

Moneta, Va. -- A 37-year-old man was killed on Friday when he returned early from a business trip and his girlfriend mistook him for an intruder and shot him in their home.

Mesquite, Tex. -- A 55-year-old man shot and killed his daughter’s 32-year-old boyfriend and then used the gun to kill himself Saturday night. Witnesses said the men argued before the shootings.

Franklin, Ind. -- A man with a gun walked into a residence about 10:30 p.m. yesterday and opened fire, killing a 19-year-old woman and wounding three other people before leaving the scene and later using the gun to kill himself when approached by police. The shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. One of the wounded victims was treated and released; no word on the conditions of the other two.

Vancouver, Wash. -- A 64-year-old man -- a driver for a paint-company distribution center -- shot and killed a 45-year-old man -- a manager for the paint-company -- before using the gun to kill himself about 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Port Arthur, Tex. -- A 46-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife were found fatally shot about 2:30 p.m. Saturday and police are looking at the incident as a murder-suicide. The bodies were discovered in their home by a family friend.

Ridgewood, N.J. -- Two men were found fatally shot in a home on Sunday and police say they apparently died in a murder-suicide.

Dora, Ala. -- A woman shot her husband twice, wounded him, before using the gun to kill herself at their home about 3 p.m. Saturday. No word on his condition.

West Lafayette, Ind. -- A 51-year-old woman, a university professor, was shot multiple times by her 64-year-old husband before he used the gun to kill himself in a home around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The woman was in serious condition.

Chambers County, Tex. -- About 9:30 p.m. Friday, when a 56-year-old man driving with his 15-year-old daughter was cut off by a 54-year-old man driving with his 10-year-old grandson, both cars pulled over and, as the two men argued, the 56-year-old shot and killed the 54-year-old.

Huger, S.C. -- A 25-year-old man accidentally shot himself with a shotgun when he fell out of a deer-stand about 1:30 a.m. today. No word on his condition.

Chicago, Ill. -- About 2:10 a.m. today, a 20-year-old man on a street with a group of young men was shot and killed when someone standing at the end of the block shot at the group.

Orange County, Fla. -- A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday while sitting in his car in front of a convenience store. The man’s brother suspects the shooting might have stemmed from an argument with others about two weeks ago.

Shelby, N.C. -- A male employee of a furniture store accidentally shot himself in the foot while at the store Monday afternoon when a gun in his back pocket inadvertently discharged. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not he would be charged. His injuries were considered non life-threatening.

West Gardner, Maine -- A 54-year-old man out ice fishing was shot on Sunday when a 21-year-old man was firing a gun in nearby woods and a bullet ricocheted off a tree and struck the fisherman in the head. The victim walked off the ice and was treated at a nearby hospital. No word yet on whether or not charges would be filed against the shooter.

Savannah, Ga. -- A 23-year old man checking to make sure his gun was not loaded shot himself in the finger when he accidentally pulled the trigger about 3 p.m. Monday. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. The gun had been stolen and the man was charged with receiving stolen property.

Houston, Tex. -- Two people were shot at an apartment complex about 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses saw three men running from the scene shortly after the shots were fired. No word on the victims’ conditions.

Bloomfield Township, Mich. -- When two men forced their way into a home and demanded money about 9:30 p.m. Monday, the homeowner led them to a bedroom where he grabbed a gun and, after a struggle, one of the intruders was shot and later arrested. Police are looking for the second suspect.

Charlotte, N.C. -- A 19-year-old girl was shot while riding in a car about 3 a.m. today. She was reported to have possible life-threatening injuries.

Chicago, Ill. -- An 18-year-old man standing outside about 8:45 p.m. yesterday was shot in the leg when someone in a car opened fire. No word on the victim’s condition.

Jacksonville, Fla. -- A man standing on a sidewalk was shot in the leg early this morning. His injuries were considered non-life threatening.

Temecula, Calif. -- A 59-year-old man allegedly pointed a gun at a girl, a minor, when she knocked on his door selling cookies on Sunday. The girl’s father, after witnessing the incident, called police and the man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Dayton, Ohio -- A 77-year-old man pleaded not guilty to federal charges of selling guns without a license after agents seized 257 weapons -- including an unregistered machine gun and sawed-off shotgun.

Snow Hill, N.C. -- An infant girl was accidentally shot and killed at a home by her 28-year-old father when the rifle he was holding as he sat on a couch inadvertently discharged about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- A 47-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his 41-year-old wife and his 73-year-old mother-in-law before using the gun to kill himself at a home on Thursday morning. The couple leave behind two minor children who were not hurt in the shooting.

Highlands Ranch, Colo. -- A woman and a teenage boy were found fatally shot last night following a standoff at a home and police are investigating the incident as a family-related murder-suicide.

Gwinnett County, Ga. -- About 10 p.m. Thursday, police found two bodies in a wooded area of a park and determined that a 48-year-old woman shot and killed her 24-year-old autistic son before using the gun to kill herself. The two were reported missing Thursday evening by family members.

Cabell County, W.V. -- Last Saturday, a 62-year-old man with a rifle opened fire from the bedroom window of his house, killing two brothers, ages 61 and 60, as the two were about 120 feet away and looking at an outbuilding on their newly-purchased property that once belonged to the gunman’s family. The property was on the market for more than three years. The gunman, who did not fire a warning shot, apparently wrongly believed the outbuilding was not part of the property that was sold. Police found 37 long guns and 17 handguns in the shooter’s home.

Royse City, Tex. -- A 39 year-old man shot his 33-year-old wife five times, wounding her, before using the gun to kill himself on the street outside their home about 9 a.m. yesterday. The couple separated in July and the woman filed for divorce in November. They were scheduled to sign divorce papers on Monday. The woman was listed in critical condition.

Umpqua, Ore. -- Police called to a residence about 5 p.m. Monday found that a 60-year-old man had shot and killed his 59-year-old wife before using the gun to kill himself. The two reportedly had serious medical issues.

Glen Burnie, Md. -- Two men were found fatally shot in an apartment about 5 p.m. Monday and police suspect it was a murder-suicide. Both men were residents of the apartment.

Fountain, Colo. -- A 25-year-old woman has died after police found her unconscious in her bedroom last Friday with a gunshot wound to her abdomen and police believe she accidentally shot herself. Her young child was at home at the time.

Morgantown, W.V. -- A 57-year-old man shot and killed himself while in the lower level of a home early last Saturday morning and the fatal bullet traveled through the ceiling and continued on through the floor of a second level bedroom and through a bed where it struck his sleeping 80-year-old father -- a state legislator -- in the leg. The father was expected to recover from his injuries.

Harvey, La. -- A woman was found fatally shot at the front door of a home about 4 a.m. today. Police think she was running from someone and was at the door seeking refuge.

Metairie, La. -- An unidentified male was shot while on a street yesterday evening. No word on his condition.

St. Mary, W.V. -- When a 36-year-old man was preparing to clean his handgun about 4 p.m. Wednesday, the weapon inadvertently discharged and the flying bullet went through the wall of his home and then through the wall of a neighbor’s home where it struck a 15-year-old girl in the head as she watched television in her living room. The victim was in critical condition.

Columbus, Ohio -- A 10-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the head by his 11-year-old brother in the hallway of a home about 1:30 a.m. Monday. The brothers found the gun in an alley. The victim was in critical condition.

Courtland County, Mich. -- A 13-year-old boy accidentally shot himself at a home about 7:25 p.m. Wednesday. He was reported as responsive when emergency crews arrived.

Glenwood, Iowa -- A 43-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the leg last Friday while waiting in the pickup area of an elementary school. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. Although the man has a valid gun permit, he was charged with carrying weapons on school grounds because local laws state that only enforcement personnel and military personnel are allowed to carry a firearm on school property. He was listed in good condition at a local hospital.

Boynton Beach, Fla. -- About 9:45 a.m. yesterday, a man on his way home from a firearms safety class accidentally shot himself in the leg after he pulled over his pick-up truck to examine a newly purchased handgun. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. Police took possession of the gun but there was no word on whether or not he was charged. He was expected to be okay.

Fairbanks, Alaska -- After cleaning a handgun about 2:30 a.m. Monday, a 30-year-old man was putting it back into a safe at his apartment when the weapon slipped out of his hand and, as he tried to catch it, the trigger was accidentally engaged and he shot himself in the leg. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. Police did not cite him for negligent discharge of a firearm because it was deemed accidental and the bullet did not go into any other apartment walls.

Palm Bay, Fla. -- Two men were beating another man at a college campus Thursday afternoon when the man being attacked got to his vehicle where he grabbed a gun and shot one of the attackers in the chest. The man shot was reported as critically wounded

Memphis, Tenn. -- Police report that a young female, described as either a child or a teenager, was shot by an unknown suspect while on a street about 7 p.m. yesterday. Her condition was listed as non-critical.

Chicago, Ill. -- Two males of unknown age were shot about 1:30 a.m. today; one was struck in the chest and the other was struck in the leg. The victim with the chest wound was described as seriously hurt.

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Two people were shot and wounded about 3:15 a.m. today. Both were in critical condition but expected to survive.

Oakley, Calif. -- An 11-year-old boy died after he shot himself at a home Wednesday night. Police initially thought it was an accident, but they now suspect is was a suicide.

Columbia, Md. -- About 11 a.m. Saturday, a 19-year-old man carrying a shotgun walked into a skateboard store at a shopping mall and killed two employees -- a 25-year-old man and a 21 year-old woman -- before using the weapon to kill himself outside the store. The woman leaves a 2-year-old son.

Oviedo, Fla. -- A 44-year-old woman shot and killed her 17-year-old daughter before using the gun to shoot and wound herself early Monday. The woman was in stable condition.

Cleveland, Ohio -- A 58-year-old woman shot and killed her 61-year-old husband in a car in a hospital parking-garage before walking into the emergency room and using the gun to shoot herself about 4:40 p.m. Thursday. She died early Friday.

Henderson, Nev. -- On Saturday, a 45-year-old man shot his 39-year-old wife in the chest, killing her, before he committed suicide by overdosing on drugs.

Lynchburg, Va. -- About 9:30 a.m. Monday, police found two people dead at a home and determined that a man shot and killed a woman before using the gun to kill himself. The two had dated on and off for several years.

Limestone, N.Y. -- A 50-year-old man and his 42-year-old girlfriend were shot and killed in an ambush by the woman’s 38-year-old estranged husband who then used the gun to shoot himself in the head in an attempted suicide shortly after noon Wednesday. The shooter was reported to be critically injured.

McKeesport Penn. -- A 25-year-old woman, the mother of five children, was fatally shot about 11 p.m. Monday as she walked to a store with a young man to get groceries. Police believe the man, who ran away, was the intended target of the shooter.

St. Louis, Mo. -- A 21-year-old man was fatally shot while walking on a street about 1:30 p.m. yesterday when a sport utility vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire.

Montgomery, Ala. -- A 32-year-old woman was found fatally shot in a vehicle about 5 a.m. Sunday.

Raleigh, N.C. -- About 6 p.m. Monday, as about two-dozen neighborhood teens were playing basketball at a church playground, a man with a gun opened fire striking four males, ages 19, 17, 13 and 12. The 12-year-old was struck in the head and was in critical condition. The other victims were treated at a hospital and released.

Manatee, Fla. -- About 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, when a 22-year-old son and his 46-year-old father were arguing, the son picked up a handgun causing the incident to escalate into a scuffle in which the father was accidentally shot. No one has been charged. No word on the father’s condition.

Como, Miss. -- A young man out hunting with his brother was accidentally shot while trying to get into a deer-stand today. The victim was in stable condition and scheduled to have surgery.

Crestview, Fla. -- An 18-year-old man hanging out with two juveniles was shot in the leg Friday night when one of the juveniles began handling a pistol and the weapon accidentally discharged.

Little Rock, Ark. -- A male teenager was shot in the face about 7:45 p.m. Saturday when a friend was playing with a gun and the weapon accidentally discharged. The victim was listed in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Melbourne, Fla. -- A pickup truck driven by a man crashed into a restaurant last Tuesday evening and he was found to have a gunshot wound to his head. No word on his condition.

Chicago, Ill. -- A 36-year-old woman was shot in the foot and suffered a graze wound to her head and a 25-year-old man was shot in the head when the woman was picking up the man in her vehicle in an alley and someone approached and began shooting about 11:50 a.m. today. The woman was listed as stabilized; the man was in critical condition.

Jacksonville, Fla. -- A woman was shot at least twice while in her apartment about 3:30 a.m. today. Her injuries were considered non life-threatening.

Verdigris, Okla. -- When a 2-year-old boy found a gun and pulled the trigger Friday morning, the weapon recoiled and he suffered a bump to the head. Police are not yet sure how he got the gun. No charges were expected.

Tampa, Fla. -- When a 67-year-old man carrying a handgun in his back pocket was being treated for a medical issue at a hospital emergency room about 1:20 a.m. Friday, the weapon accidentally fired after he removed the magazine and was trying to clear the chamber. The flying bullet went through a chair and into the floor. No one else was struck. The man has a concealed weapons permit and no charges were expected.

Johns Creek, Ga. -- Police have arrested a 31-year-old man accused of shooting into a woman home Thursday evening and nearly striking her two children. The woman was the man’s former professor and he reportedly had a long-term infatuation with her.

Decatur, Ala. -- A 17-year-old boy has died after he was accidentally shot in the head by his step-mother at their home about 12:15 a.m. Monday. The woman said the handgun had mechanical issues and it fired without her pulling the trigger.

Paris, Tex. -- A 24-year-old man and his 21-year-old wife were found fatally shot at their home about 11:30 a.m. Saturday and police said evidence suggests it might have been a murder-suicide. After the woman’s mother and father tried repeatedly to reach her by telephone, they went to the couple’s home and her father discovered the bodies.

North Augusta, S.C. -- A 52-year-old man and his 21-year-old son were found fatally shot at their home about 9:30 a.m. Sunday and police suspect the father killed the son before turning the gun on himself following a family dispute.

McKinney, Tex. -- A man shot and killed himself after he shot and killed his estranged wife in her vehicle in the parking lot of a day-care center Thursday evening. She had just picked up their two children and they were in the car when the shooting occurred. The couple were going through a divorce.

West Palm Beach, Fla. -- When a 49-year-old woman and her 38-year-old boyfriend met with a 69-year-old man to discuss payment for work the older man had done at the couple’s home, the older man shot and killed the younger man and shot and wounded the woman before using the gun to kill himself on Thursday. The older man wanted more money for the work done and the couple refused. No word on the woman’s condition.

Tyler County, Tex. -- A 35-year-old man and his 31-year-old wife were fatally shot about 12:30 p.m. Saturday as they were leaving a church after a supervised visitation with the man’s 4-year-old daughter. The child and a mediator were still inside the church and heard about five shots. The couple had been married for just over a year and had five children between them but none together.

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- A man accidentally shot and killed himself while putting his shotgun in his car so the weapon would be safely out of reach of his visiting grandchildren.

Carmichael, Calif. -- A 34-year-old man was shot and killed in the courtyard of an apartment complex about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Danville, Ill. -- A 10-year-old boy playing with a gun in an apartment accidentally shot a 5-year-old boy in the upper body about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The victim was in critical condition.

Fresno, Calif. -- A father was working on his shotgun at his home when the gun accidentally discharged and several pellets struck his 8-year-old son about 2 p.m. Friday. The man thought the gun was empty. His wife and other kids were inside the home at the time, but none of them were struck. No word on whether or not charges would be filed. The boy was expected to recover.

Chester, Penn. -- A male college student was shot and wounded in the parking lot outside a university athletic center about 8:45 p.m. Monday. Police said it was not a random act of violence. The shooter was still at large. The victim was listed in critical but stable condition

West Lafayette, Ind. -- Someone was shot in the electrical engineering building at a university campus this morning. One person is in custody. The school’s 30,00 students have been warned to shelter in place until further notice.

Connersville, Ind. -- An off-duty police chief suffered a flesh wound to his thigh when he accidentally shot himself while at a gun store on Saturday. He was putting a handgun into an unfamiliar holster and the weapon discharged when the trigger caught on clothing. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not charges would be filed.

Ormond Beach, Fla. -- A 22-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the face while attempting to fix his hunting rifle about 2 a.m. Thursday. He did not know the gun was loaded. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not charges would be filed. He was listed in stable condition.

St. Petersburg, Fla. -- A 15-year-old boy accidentally shot a 16-year-old boy in the foot while showing off a handgun at a city park Thursday afternoon. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not charges would be filed.

Rosedale, Md. -- A 17-year-old boy hanging out in the basement of a home with a group of teens was shot in the neck when one of them was handling a gun and it accidentally discharged. The victim’s injuries were considered non life-threatening. No one else was hit by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not charges would be filed.

Jamestown Township, Mich. -- When a man and his wife were out hunting Saturday, he accidentally shot the woman while firing at a rabbit. She was in stable condition.

Carson City, Nev. -- An 88-year-old man walked into his wife’s hospital room on Sunday and shot her in the chest. He as been charged with attempted murder. The woman’s injuries were considered life-threatening.

Orlando, Fla. -- About 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, when a 34-year-old man and his wife driving on an interstate highway were threatened by another driver brandishing a gun, the man accidentally shot himself in the leg while pulling his gun from under the seat of his car. His injuries were considered non life-threatening.

Lawton, Okla. -- Two men were fooling around with a gun in an apartment Sunday morning when the weapon accidentally discharged and the flying bullet went through a wall and into an adjoining apartment where it grazed a sleeping 21-year-old woman on her upper lip.

Oak Grove, Ore. -- About 11:30 a.m. Friday, when a 42-year-old man riding a bus reached into a carrying case containing a handgun, the weapon accidentally discharged and struck the bus floor. None of the 20 to 25 people on the bus were injured. The man was arrested.

Spanish Fork, Utah -- A 34-year-old police officer shot and killed his 32-year-old wife, his 7-year-old son, his 5-year-old daughter, and his 55-year-old mother-in-law before using the gun to kill himself yesterday. The couple reportedly had experienced marital problems for the past several months including a brief period of separation.

Irmo, S.C. -- A 38-year-old man shot and killed his 28-year-old wife, his 3-year-old son, and his 1-year-old daughter before using the gun to kill himself at their home Wednesday. A handgun was found near the father. Each family member had a gunshot wound to the head.

Syracuse, Utah -- A 32-year-old woman shot and killed her two daughters, ages 13 and 7, before using the gun to kill herself about 7 p.m. Tuesday. The woman had broken up with her fiancé the day before.

Detroit, Mich. -- A 4-year-girl accidentally shot and killed a 4-year-old boy, her cousin, while playing with a rifle she found inside their grandparent’s home yesterday afternoon.

New Bedford, Mass. -- A man and a woman, both 22-years-old, were found fatally shot in an apartment late Wednesday afternoon and a relative said the man shot the woman before using the gun to kill himself. Both victims had gunshot wounds to the head. They were reportedly in a relationship.

Morning View, Ky. -- A 28-year-old man shot and killed his 26-year-old estranged girlfriend before using the gun to kill himself Tuesday evening. The woman, a college student, leaves behind two young children.

Symrna, Tenn. -- A 32-year-old man shot and killed a 28-year-old woman, his brother’s girlfriend, at an apartment before using the gun to kill himself. Police responding to a 911 call arrived about 7:20 p.m. yesterday to find the front door kicked open and a 2-year-old child of the woman walking around unharmed. The bodies were found in a locked upstairs bedroom. Police believe the shootings stemmed from a domestic violence call at the home on Tuesday. The child was placed into protective custody.

Denham Springs, La. -- A 38-year-old man shot and killed his estranged 35-year-old wife before using the gun to kill himself Wednesday night. Police said there was an active restraining order against the husband related to domestic abuse. The couple left two young children.

Crafton, Penn. -- A 46-year-old man shot and killed his 40-year-old estranged wife before using the gun to kill himself early Wednesday. The couple had been married for 10 years but were separated for the past six months. They leave three young daughters behind.

Elkhart, Tex. -- A 43-year-old man shot and killed his 42-year-old ex-wife before using the gun to shoot and wound himself trying to take his own life at a home Wednesday morning. No word on the shooter’s condition.

New Bedford, Mass. -- A 23-year-old man was found fatally shot on a street about 1 a.m. Thursday.

Houston County, Ga. -- A 30-year-old man was found dead from a single shot to the head outside a home around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. The case was being investigated as a homicide.

Eaton, Ind. -- A 50-year-old man was found fatally shot Saturday night after he went to a property to evict a tenant. Police have a possible suspect in custody.

Montgomery, Ala. -- A 7-year-old boy was shot and wounded after he became caught in a crossfire when at least two men exchanged gunfire on a street about 4 p.m. yesterday. A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with the shooting. The victim was reported as “recovering well.”

Avondale, Ariz. -- When a man was cleaning a rifle in his garage about 2:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon, the weapon accidentally discharged and the bullet went through two walls of the house and grazed his 11-year-old daughter in the leg. The house is next to a park playground. It was not yet known whether or not the man would be charged. The girl’s injuries were described as minor.

Beach Park, Ill. -- A 19-year-old man at an underage drinking party at his home was showing off a handgun when it accidentally discharged and the bullet struck a girl in the abdomen just before midnight Tuesday. The man was arrested. The victim was listed in stable condition.

Memphis, Tenn. -- A 15-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the head while going to school in a car with his mother about 6:45 a.m. today. He was reported in non-critical condition.

Searcy, Ark. -- A 24-year-old man has been arrested after he shot his 65-year-old grandmother when the two got into a struggle about 8 a.m. Monday. The woman’s injuries were consider life-threatening.

Baker City, Ore. -- Police dispatched to a home about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday found that a 23-year-old man had accidentally shot himself in his left leg. No one else was struck by the flying bullet. No word on whether or not charges would be filed. He was listed in fair condition.

Konawa, Okla. -- When a 27-year-old woman argued with her grandfather about the custody of her two children while outside a gym during a high school basketball game, she pulled a handgun and threatened him before accidentally firing into the ground about 7 p.m. Saturday. The woman was arrested.

Brimfield, Ohio -- Two police officers serving as school resource officers at a high school have been disciplined after one of their guns accidentally fired when they were cleaning their weapons in an isolated cinder-blocked room of the school while students were in class last month. No one was struck by the flying bullet.

Hillsboro Beach, Fla. -- On January 6, when a woman and her daughter vacationing in Florida unzipped a bag left behind in their rental car by a previous user, they found inside it an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle.
