Fracking in the US has produced a surplus of natural gas
that must be liquified in order to export it to Japan and
Europe where it can be sold for 4-5x the price. TNK and TK
are positioning to be one of the carriers and getting some
new ships built to do the job. They just formed a subsidiary
(TIL) to get rid of some of their old ships as it helps their
books to do it that way. TNK just resumed paying dividends
again. It used to pay about 17% if I remember correctly, 2
years ago when I first bought it. When they stopped, I sold
at a small profit, but got back in when they announced they
would resume. Good solid company run by no-nonsense
Norwegians.
