CPT to dispose of factory land and buildings in northern Taiwan

Sammi Huang, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Monday 23 December 2013]

Taiwan-based TFT-LCD panel Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) will sell part of land and buildings of its factory in Ba-De, northern Taiwan, at a total price of NT$2.814 billion (US$94.7 million) with estimated capital gain of NT$86 million, according to the company.

The deal consists of land of 6.14 hectares (15.16 acres) and buildings of 29,275 square meters (315,114 square feet) in total floor area, CPT indicated. The land to be sold takes up 40.16% of the whole site of Ba-De factory in terms of land area, CPT noted.

The Ba-De factory, a 4G production line with a monthly capacity of 70,000 glass substrates, is currently CPT's operational headquarters, CPT said. The sale will not affect production at Ba-De factory, CPT noted.

Due to the sale, CPT will relocate operational headquarters to its Lung-Tan factory in northern Taiwan, the company indicated. Lung-Tan factory consists of a 6G production line with a monthly capacity of 100,000 glass substrates and two 4.5G lines with a combined monthly capacity of 180,000 glass substrates, with production focusing on smartphone, tablet and car-use panels, CPT pointed out. Lung-Tan factory will be CPT's R&D and marketing center in addition.

In addition to the two factories, CPT has Yang-Mei factory also in northern Taiwan, the company said. Yang-Mei factory houses a 6G filter production line and a 4.5G one with monthly capacities of 90,000 filters and 180,000 units respectively, CPT pointed out.
