ARTICLE ABOUT SUNDAY SERVICE / SANKEYS
from Get Out Magazine November 12th issue

The New York City nightclub industry was transformed this past weekend with the introduction of a legendary UK clubbing institution. Sankeys, founded in Manchester with a presence in Ibiza, finally arrived to the United States with its first stateside outpost in the Big Apple. The club opened its doors on Halloween, one of the biggest party nights of the year in the city, and threw extravagant parties for club goers on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, leaving fans in awe and excited for what the club has in store for the future.

After the successful opening weekend, we are excited to announce Sankeys Sunday Service, a weekly party open to all but dedicated to the Fashion community, who has enthusiastically supported the opening of Sankeys, and lovers of the underground music scene. As a DJ, promoter and now club owner, I want to be sure to throw one of the best parties the community has ever seen in New York City. Sunday Service will feature Sankeys resident DJs such as Up and Coming Techno Producer Jean Pierre & Friends in the Cellar and resident DJ's Eddie Elias & Escape in the Basement (Main Floor) along with other DJ's such as Honey Dijon and Nita all whom are big favorites among the local gay and fashion community.

Beyond Sankeys amazing music, Sunday Service will be about providing our fans with an overall experience, including unique professional performers and innovative performance art, a who's who in the industry involved such as Todd Selman, Marco Ovando, Kayvon Zand, Patrick Crough, Roze Black, Lee Chappell, Ebonee Excell, Anthony Lamont, Vi Vacious, Muffinhead, Yasmine Petty, Mother Juan Aviance, Darrel Thorne, Delicia Glam, David Alexander, Digna Shei , Yusef Xtravaganza, Jessica Foxx, Angelica Lace and many others that are TOP SECRET to name as of yet. The gate keepers of Sunday Service will be Xander, Patrick Day and Quintin. We expect Sunday Service to turn into the best party the gay community in New York City has seen in a long time "Thou shalt be fierce".

John Ed is the creative director for Sankeys Sunday Service and wants to be sure that this is about a New York vibe both fun and unique party and not strictly just about the DJ. New York city lost its creative juices when bottle service and focus on only DJ's took over club land. John Ed, who founded Party Productions NYC, has been in this business for over 20 years and was once the entertainment director for legendary Soundfactory and other of New York City’s biggest straight and gay nightclub venues.

Sankeys was originally established in Manchester in 1994. By 2000, club visionary David Vincent was in control of the club, collaborating a massive overhaul and officially re-launching Sankeys into the millennium with the opening of its second location in Ibiza, the dance capitol of the world. Sankeys quickly developed a loyal fan base and became the in-vogue epicenter of the electronic music underground.

The Sankeys brand is now celebrated for being at the forefront of the cutting edge music scene, known for showcasing up-and-coming artists, while providing the most innovative and high quality music in an intimate setting.

In April 2013, Vincent decided to shut down Sankeys Manchester to focus all of his energy on the Sankeys Ibiza season. Sankeys Ibiza ran a successful seven night party with residences from Hypercolour, Enzp Siragusa’s Fuse, Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird and Audiofly’s Flying Circus, as well as Solomun’s Diynamic Neon Nights and Steve Lawler’s VIVa Warriors.

With Sankeys’ arrival to New York City, it will provide a setting for breakthrough artists, many of whom led the charge of fresh, irrepressible musical energy during this year’s Ibiza season, and will feature leading names from around the world. Establishing a family of collaborators, label showcases, underground promoters and DJ collectives has created a truly global feel to Sankeys, and traveling to New York is a long held dream for its founder.

The new venue is comprised of two rooms; the legendary futuristically-themed Basement and the European-influenced low ceiling cellar will provide great scope for programming each dynamic space. SankeysNYC boasts a brand-new Void incubus sound system, designed and installed by Anthem SSL, the official sound and lighting installer for all Sankeys locations worldwide, and will feature the world’s first hydraulic LED Grid Matrix system with more surprises housed within the clubs’ industrial walls.

The hours of operation for Sunday Service are from 8:00PM to 4:00AM every Sunday starting on December 1st , 2013 and are 21+ to enter. Free Admission until Midnight and $10 after unless you are one of the chosen ones. Sankeys is located at 29 West 36th Street between 5-6 Avenue.
