Bishop Jenky Commands His Flock To Vote, And Vote Republican

Saturday, November 3, 2012

Imagine that, Cardinal Burke and Bishop Jenky taking a stroll. Why am I not surprised.

I don't believe I've written anything about Bishop Jenky of Peoria. I have read quite a bit about him and he struck me as being another Bishop Martino of Scranton, or Morlino of Madison. Men who had garnered mid level dioceses who had their eyes on bigger prizes and decided to follow the Burke route to Rome and red beanies---shout and wave a lot so that Rome will notice their 'zeal' for 'teaching the hard truths'. The easiest way to get noticed in this country is to get all raging political and mimic Rush Limbaugh in thought, word, and deed. Jenky may be the most Limbaugh-like of all of them, and not just in physical shape, but in verbal affront.

The following is an article by Nicholas Cafardi excerpted from National Catholic Reporter"

Churches should be a sacred space, free from partisan politics

That one is long and prompted by DDs bring back of their being involved in politics, earlier today.

Most politicians in Australia tip-toe about Bishops and Cardinals too, because of the influence they have on a relatively captive audience and so considerable influence on many .. i remember a fracas about a letter something like Jenky's some time ago, think it may have been withdrawn as being too political .. not sure and will check it out .. just skimmed and not all of the one above ..

F6, i know we have kinda two ways of approaching the Pope for all the reasons we have covered, the approaches aren't entirely diverse either, as we know .. all of us would like to see Francis extra strong action against pedophiles and enablers of them .. not speaking for others of course, just that one is a lay down misere ..

LOL .. speaking for myself simply, wash and rinse, once more .. i choose to enjoy that of Francis which i am able to .. just because, (i couldn't at all with Bush) and you choose to take the other approach .. feels fair that one .. of course no big deal, as all, i think have really conveyed ..

I got this one thru a "Pope Francis' position on Bishop's engagement in politics" search .. though i remember he was not/is not? a fan of liberation theology .. and also .. though he is conservative on traditional church ritual and official practice he has suggested some Christians are too gung ho on gays and abortions and other social issues .. so logically he ought to be against Jenky's political activism, seems to me .. from Booman Tribune ..

Pope Francis Moves Towards Engagement

Will the conservative American Bishops follow the Bishop of Rome in his teachings? It seems to me Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York .. http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2012/8/13/124617/135 .. has a belly ache. Republicans of the Catholic faith Paul Ryan .. http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2012/8/14/22818/5449 .. and Rick Santorum will need a new priest for confession. Perhaps Russian Orthodox? It appears the latest statements by Pope Francis sound as heresy to US bishops and conservative Republicans. How will this new voice from Rome impact future US presidential elections? I too must admit, my first assessment .. http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2013/3/15/95736/6868 .. was plain wrong.

Pope Francis: Church can't 'interfere' with gays
http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2013/09/19/pope-francis-church-cant-interfere-with-gays/

(CNN) - Pope Francis said the church has the right to express its opinions but not to "interfere spiritually" in the lives of gays and lesbians, expanding on explosive comments he made in July about not judging homosexuals. In a wide-ranging interview .. http://ncronline.org/blogs/ncr-today/pope-rejects-church-small-minded-rules-jesuit-interview , the pope also said that women must play a key role in church decisions and brushed off critics who say he should be more vocal about fighting abortion and gay marriage.

Moreover, if the church fails to find a "new balance" between its spiritual and political missions, the pope warned, its moral foundation will "fall like a house of cards."

The interview, released by Jesuit magazines in several different languages and 16 countries, offers perhaps the most expansive and in-depth view of Francis' vision for the Roman Catholic Church. The pope's comments don't break with Catholic doctrine or policy, but instead show a shift in approach, moving from censure to engagement.

Address of Pope Francis to the Community of Writers of "La Civiltà Cattolica" June 14, 2013

The rift between the Gospel and culture is without a doubt a drama (cf. Evangelii Nuntiandi, n. 20). You are called to make your contribution to healing this split which also passes through the heart of each one of you and of your readers. Such a ministry is characteristic of the mission of the Society of Jesus. Accompany with your thoughts and your in-depth examination the cultural and social processes and all who are going through difficult transitions, even taking conflicts into account. Your proper place is at the frontier. This is the place of Jesuits. Today too what Paul VI said about the Society of Jesus, taken up by Benedict XVI, applies in a particular way to you:

"Wherever in the Church, even in the most difficult and extreme fields, at the crossroads of ideologies, in the social trenches, there has been and there is confrontation between the burning exigencies of man and the perennial message of the Gospel, here also there have been, and there are, Jesuits."
