Well, i was sure wrong about the shutdown only lasting a day or two. I underestimated the stupidity of the reichwing of the republicans, and that is not a simple thing to do.
Obama standing up to the essentially unrelated tantrums has elevated my opinion of his recent actions, even the fumbles on syria.
Note: the National Forests are not closed, only the National Parks are affected because they charge for access. access to the national forests is there for all americans to enjoy free of charge. the only thing affected on the national forests by the shutdown are some campgrounds with pay amenities, and a few places where firewood and mushroom gathering permits are required this time of year, those activities do not restrict access for other users. Law enforcement and initial attack firemen are on duty, working for free, to be reimbursed later hopefully.
