Dick Cheney and The One Shot Antelope Hunt

Dick Cheney's hunt ended without a bang as the Remington team won.

"The Remington team where the only team that was successful with all three of their hunters," said Terry Martin, President of the One Shot Hunt Club. "Had they not done that, the Wyoming team would have won because with two successes their time was the shortest and Wyoming would have been champions again.

But wait a second.... whats that? On the scoreboard that shows either an "X" next to the hunters name if they got their buck of an "O" if they didn't, shows a hand written "?" next to Vice President Dick Cheney's name.

"The Vice President is an excellent shot," said the captain of the Wyoming team Governor Matt Mead. "He (Vice President Dick Cheney) had a gun malfunction. But I think he is so excited and enjoyed this so much. He'll be back next year."

"I don't take it personally," said the former V.P. to the crowed of hunters at the victory banquet. "I'm sure there was a small problem with the manufacturer." But I will be back next year and I have enjoyed it, it's been fantastic. It's great to spend so much time with some fine folks"

Even though the Vice President didn't get his goat, he helped raise money by auctioning off a first addition copy of his book "In My Time" which went for $26,00 for the non-profit Water For Wildlife which helps animals suffering from drought conditions.

"Drought lowers the population of the animals," said Terry Martin a lifelong Wyoming resident. "From what I understand from the Wyoming Game and Fish, the antelope population is down 20% from last year."

While the Remington team was honored by the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and where given traditional Native American headdresses, the losers had to get up on stage during the banquet and give an excuse to why their team didn't come out on top.

Wounded Warrior team captain Jeff 'Doc' Sinchack jokingly said that there is no excuse but a reason. "It all starts with lot #R270W2, that was the !@#% box of Remington ammunition that was put into my hands." The packed crowed of hunters burst with laughter, Including the Remington team members. "It shouldn't surprise anyone that Dick Cheney's gun had a major malfunction today, he had Remington ammunition. But the good news is, he's gun didn't work and nobody got hurt.

Dick Cheney declined to a formal interview with K2 news, but when asked about Liz Cheney running for the senate, he told this reporter that he is very proud of his daughter.
