Abbott's 4 key campaign drones were ..

1. Scrap the carbon emissions trading scheme (CTS) within one year: the debate on whether or not it is properly called a tax as Abbott's mob has/does call it is just that, a debate (see below) .. note, it is one thing Julia said she should have explained to the public better

-----
"I erred by not contesting the label “tax” for the fixed price period of the emissions trading scheme I introduced. I feared the media would end up playing constant silly word games with me, trying to get me to say the word “tax”. I wanted to be on the substance of the policy, not playing “gotcha”. But I made the wrong choice and, politically, it hurt me terribly."

Abbott does not have Senate numbers until July '14 to repeal it .. the likely scenario is that he will introduce legislation to the Senate once and it will be rejected .. then a 2nd time .. he would then have the option to ask the Governor General for a double dissolution which i think he? (someone did) mentioned as a possibility (threat) before the election .. anyway, imo no way he will go for a dd .. he almost certainly will have it rejected twice in the Senate and use the bs 'the rejection of our mandate' line to beat up Labor and the Greens until he gets 3 Senate independents in who, on what we believe so far, will back him on that one.

2. To stop the boats: .. lol, considered beside your secure the border debate .. the numbers of refugees .. the whole debate here is kinda laughable .. anyway, Indonesia is not happy with Abbott's Sovereign Border plan ..

Tony Abbott's asylum seeker policies 'offensive', says senior Indonesian politician
http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/tony-abbotts-asylum-seeker-policies-offensive-says-senior-indonesian-politician-20130919-2u082.html

also Julie Bishop (the one who i hope well be better than i think she will be) .. this from Murdoch's The Australian .. lol ..

"We're not asking for Indonesia's permission, we're asking for their understanding," Ms Bishop said. "What we have in place is a series of policies that we intend to implement by legislation and operationally."

I heard one (sorry, missed his name) this morning suggesting refugees will just sink the boats, then Australian lives could be at risk saving those left in the water; also having a General (3 star, i think) in charge of the policy militarizes a civilian 'problem'; and the title Sovereign Border suggests it is our border's sovereignty at risk whereas it's actually the refugees sovereignty which is at risk .. then there is the buying of Indonesian boats to reduce the boats available to people smugglers .. sounds iffy/crazy/silly .. lastly on that for now .. from Julia Gillard (not Julie Bishop) ..

"In reviewing all this, Labor needs to be clear-eyed about what failed and what worked. The new approach of resettling refugees in a country other than Australia is working. It had been canvassed internally for some time and Kevin did well to so rapidly reach agreement with Papua New Guinea. Having instituted this arrangement, Labor should be publicly clear about its effectiveness otherwise the Coalition will claim credit for the fact fewer boats are now arriving."

3. Get the budget on track for a believable surplus: as i said that was/is as a GOP furphy
.. in the final costings for their own plan, cynically just a couple of days before the election ..

4. to build roads .. yeah .. ok .. we'll see how the costs go on that one ..
